Damiyr said it correct that this album is for mature listeners, if your under a certain age you will simply not appreciate the album as a whole. The production has improved greatly over the last few years judging from his last few projects that I coudnt get with. Smooth soulful funky beats, what else can you ask for. The peanutbutter joint is one that could of been left on the cutting room floor, but the other r&b cuts actually sound dope. Hopefully this is the start of good things to come. |

I was expecting to hear some RAW lyrics over 9th's production but instead it's a bunch of singing which wasn't bad at all just disappointed was expecting a album with RAW EMCEES. There was like 4 tracks that are banging thou. If I could go back I would have not purchased the album and just purchased the 4 tracks I liked from ITunes. OWell |

Ive known about 9th wonder even before the listening dropped and he quickly became one of my favorite producers, for awhile I might of even called him my favorite. However that was in the mid 2000's. Although he has been quite quiet these past few years, just the few mixtapes here and there and some rare production on low key projects, I still try to check for him. Going from past production albums where it was hard for me to pick out a beat I didnt like to recently that I found it difficult to pick out even just one beat that I did like. Fast forward to "the wonder years" and you know what, I was very surprised and satisfied to actually enjoy this album staright through. Although there are tracks I enjoy more than others, I cant say that I dislike even one track. I feel the soul and heart that has been missing in his previous compositions over the last few years. So I dont really know what some have a problem with, your getting the old 9th with a new spin, what else can you ask from a growing producer. Hope this is just the beginning of more great things to come..welcome back! |

The tracks on this album has a cool vibe, it may not have the same crazy energy that was off Dream Merchant 2, or other production that 9th has done - still this album is a decent installment.
But what I wanna know is for all you dissing dude, and saying he should give up(Gorff), where is your album? Any production? You was feeling dude's music early 2000, but now he should quit right? It sucks that 9th might not have that same heat that he had earlier on, and if ya not feeling the latest work, that's cool, but don't be trying to hand a dude a pink slip - cause you know you'd be the 1st one popping off about his new shit if its banging. |

Usually when you see an album with this broad of variety of guest appearances it never lives up to the names. This album blows that shit out of of the water. Go back and listen. There's more notable highlights on here than I have time to mention but...the West Coast jam "Enjoy" with Warren G, Murs and Kendrick was dope as hell man. Von Pea & Tanya Morgan is still one of the most slept on crews in the game. Skyzoo killed his track. That fuckin jam with Masta Killa is nice as fuck. "Piranhas"-dope. Raekwon and Big Remo killed "No Pretending". Rae said "swim through money like I'm Jewish". Bottom line is...what were you expecting with this album? It sounds like 9th's shit with an all star line up. If you don't like this album, how can say you like 9th? Shit don't make sense. |

First of all I know more about good music and hip hop than u do. I have been a fan of 9th since 2002 before u even heard of him, I have some unreleased tracks of him that u will never ever hear , I have all his stuff with LB from the first album the listening to minstrel show, including mixtapes like gangsta grills, separate but equal…..and many more. I have met 9th and I have had his first dream merchant cd years before u even heard of it. I have all his collabs eps with buckshot, murs, kaze, jean grea, skyzoo, thyrday, spectac, pete rock, ac im, sv… and all his unreleased work and remixes and am sure u probably just have the ones posted one blogs to download. I have all his stuff with other Justus league’s members such as chaudon, median, Comanche, jozeemo, joe scudda, legacy…and many many more bro. I am still a fan of 9th wonder with his new crew iwwmgroup. 9th did a good job on all 3 actual proof’s eps as well as big remo’s , halo’s, rapsody’s, sean boog’s…etc. I digged all of them man. so I know what am talking abt when I say this ep is weak. I am just not feeling it, like 9th opus ( his weakest album). don’t get me wrong there r good tracks in this album such as no pretending, piranahs, loyalty.., but most of the tracks on here are boring , simple and basic as hell. Could have been sooo much better tho. That’s why am disappointed, so yo daddy instead of insulting people cose of their opinion , stop riding 9th wonder dick, get out of ur moma’s house and find a job to take care of your multiple children.

If you aint 27 and older you may or may not vibe to this shit...I threw that age range in cause most of us in that age bracket aint listening to that fuck shit or can't dig that kiddie or skinny jeans shit. Not to say you can't be younger and dig this shit either but I think this album appeals to a more older audience. Most of the n*ggas he got featured are in their 30's, minus Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, and Blu (who's dope as fuck by the way). I speak about innovation and elevation in his production. He has beats that are worthy of being defined as "classic" but none of them are on this album and that´s the exact problem. If you take so many years to come out with the project, it is only normal to have sky high expectations. I´ve grown up on that Little Brother sound as well. How come is it that you make each track on "The Minstrel Show" really sound classic and then fail to bring the creativity that you possess to your own solo album? I just thought that "The Wonder Years" will be an elevation compared to the "Dream Merchant" series but it isn´t. It´s merely another volume to the Dream Merchant series...Change? Think again. Rather, listen again. |

Thats bullshit, whenever a rapper or producer try different shit it fails every time like Wu tang, Jeru the damaja etc! I never want 9th to change his production ever! |

Listening to the snippets right now, it´s really the same 9th we already heard in 2005. Outside of a few tracks ("A Star U R" & "One Night"), there is no innovation whatsoever. You know how you expect your favorite producer to do something completely different from what you are used to hear from him, yet, with his trademark touch still incombined...This just doesn´t sound like it. |
