Summary

Fresh off the heels of his Gangrene collaboration with MC/Producer Oh No, The Alchemist steps back into the spotlight announcing his latest project, Russian Roulette, dropping on record label/ production house/idea shop Decon on July 17th. A collection of 30 tracks woven into a tapestry of insanely obscure samples and jaw-dropping verses from the top names of indie-rap's recent resurgence: Danny Brown, Schoolboy Q, Action Bronson, Evidence, Roc Marciano, Mr. MFN. eXquire, Boldy James, and more. The Alchemist creates a cinematic musical experience interwoven through a continuous soundscape demonstrating the vast array of his musical palette.

Comment: Wow! Y'all ninjas didn't like this? Olegs Flight was painful to listen to? Krushed Kremlin didn't sound dope? Turning point was trash? Ok, some joints like "Before the Fight" will make most people think "WTF IS THIS??" but others like "Learned By Listening" just need the right MC that goes against the norm to do the beat justice. Keep doing ya thing Alc. I give you an "A" for being one of the few known producers to step out your comfort zone.

Comment: R.I.P alchemist of old. this whole gangrene russian roulette greenberg shit alchemist is doing needs to stop now! its been over a year and a half since he gave a boom bap beat to an artist. looks like al gave into lyrical scientific and said to hell with eric and g. al stop experimenting with weird sounds your long time fans fuckin hate it. the type, scottie pippen, linguistics, american nightmare is the style you need to stick with not this retarded shit. and was al suddenly banned from using drums with samples? seems like it

Comment: Loved the left field approached on this, back to basics on this one, I can understand some peoples disappointment on this LP, but at the same time this is one where you have to go on alc's journey, this isnt for hard hittin beats, this LP's for alc the artist/producer. smoke one and enjoy the ride, dope work from alc.

Comment: Obviously working with Micheal Jackson has rubbed off on Alchemist. His older work was gangster, but repetitive and usually boring after a few listens. This plays from start to finish and is so damn precise. Sounds like someones using an MPC instead of the bullshit computer software beats most shitty "rap" fans like I'll take samples all day any day over wost of the fucking crap that is considered "underground". If you gave this one star, then you don't deserve to comment on any rap PERIOD and your Mama's a hoe.

Comment: Two tracks out of 30 that are good. That makes a horrible album. I don't care for Danny Brown but that song was one of the highlights. The other was the one with Fashawn. I also liked the rapping on the one with Midaz but the beat kinda took over in a bad way. Overall I think this album is at 3.5 stars just cause he's Alchemist. If you took the time to listen to this you'll realize it's pure garbage.

Comment: cant believe im saying this... but... this is wack. not feeling his new approach, letting samples ride and no hard drums. think oh no is rubbing off on him. few hot beats but no real boom bap. wont rate it cause I dont want to turn anyone away. love gangrene, love almost all alc beats but this aint for me.

Comment: ill definitely check this out cause I love Al's production and some of the featured MCs, but i'm not really a fan of his lyrics or flow. probably why I slept on that gangrene. I rather him just feature a whole bunch of dudes on the tracks and jus shut the fuck up to be honest....
