Veteran Demigodz frontman and Army of the Pharaohs core member, Apathy, releases his 4th official full length solo effort. "Connecticut Casual" is an album that reveals a hidden side of New England, unfamiliar to most. From the opulent lifestyle of the Kennedy family, to the economically destitute neighborhoods of Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Mansions and projects. Tennis courts and bodegas. Summers spent on the shores of the Atlantic. Mysterious meetings in Masonic lodges. Homicides that go unsolved due to inadequate law enforcement budgets in poor areas, to literally getting away with murder by being well connected to East Coast royalty. The album is full of conceptual songs that range from underwater nautical tales, Freemasonry, Jack Ruby conspiracies and "Beefin' Over Bitches". Songs like "Curse Of The Kennedys" & "Martha Moxley" analytically highlight the darker side of America's royal family. "The Grass Ain't Greener" & "Money Makes The World Go Round", address the battle for our souls, against the almighty dollar bill. Production is handled mostly by Apathy with the addition of Da Beatminerz, The Doppelgangaz, Teddy Roxpin & Smoke The World. Original cover art by Chris B. Murray.

Comment: This album is great. You need to listen to it a few times then it's stuck in your head. The 'Martha Moxley' track is the weakest beat on the album (unless you're a George Michael fan); but he makes up for it with the lyrics. Just slightly different enough to keep you interested and not played out as it's not as hardcore as Honkey Kong. May possibly not go over as well with a person not familiar with how preppie the Connecticut upper class can be. Awesome that he was able to keep the concept throughout the album.

Comment: It's a 3.5 for me. The beats and some hooks really let it down for me. Apathy is incredible, but sometimes he wastes his talent. Apollo Brown needs to cook him up some fire for his next LP!

Comment: Love all you "hardcore doodz" who only want to hear Apathy spit battle raps over gRiMeey bAnGeRz all day. LOL... Truth is, Ap is one of the most versatile writers and producers. He has so much more to say beyond how he rips mics or f*cks hoes. If all you want him to be is the "It's the Bootleg, Muthaf*ckas" Apathy in 2014, he probably wouldn't have a career now. Look at all those guys that came in the game with that style: Punch & Words, Rise, Porn Theater Ushers, Copywrite, Pumpkinhead... Look at their careers today and look at Ap's. So many "UGHH" fans have the most outdated and warped sense of what music should be. This album is a concept album and conveys so many different styles, both lyrically and production-wise. He's talking about things that have NEVER been talked about in rap songs. Kennedy family? Anti-illuminati Freemason? The murder of Martha Moxley? The life of a god damn pirate? LOL... There's a reason this guy is incredible and still standing strong in the murky climate of "indie rap" music careers and it's probably because he's EVOLVED and BROADENED his creative output. You guys can have all those BaDDLe WrApZ N iLL MeTaPh0RZ like it's 2000. I'll take this sh*t over that any f*ckin day.

Comment: Apathy has so much skill and spits like a dragon but I just don't understand why every album he puts out has to have questionable beats? For example, the song "underground Chick".....He sounds so much better over grimy type beats. He's definately a better rapper than producer for sure.

Comment: Just finished listening to this album twice and it's definitely a dope album from start to finish. It's a great concept album about where Apathy is from. And by listening to this album makes me wanna go visit Connecticut. After I heard Martha Moxley I immediately googled her name. That's how you know that is a great track. Jack Ruby is my favorite on here. Also, I like how he was saying about somebody stole the yacht and jumped out and left it in the sea. People are crazy saying this album isn't good. I keep saying this over and over that this site is full of teenie boppers that don't know sh*t about music. This album is in my top 10 albums for 2014. Salute Apathy for putting this album together for us.

Comment: Don't know what to say about how comments on this site turned into arguments between commenters, remember guys nobody wants to hear what you think about what other people think, if most people think the album is good let them comment how they please, uk don't come in here and think you comment matters more then others stupid opinion, although you're right about giving 5 stars to everything that walks, I think the rating system needs to change, let us give 3.2 4.9, that will give people a more personel rating, that way a nobody freaking complains about other people. Anyways to my review... album is very tasty, Apathy delivers, I will agree there are some weird tracks but I'm sure they will grow on me. I don't want to buy it yet because Ap is coming to Toronto and I would rather buy it then, maybe get it signed, but if your a fan of Apathy, it's really good, if not then you better do your homework on this guy, he's an amazing artist. If I could, I would give this album 3.6 instead of this ordinary 3, but it's not a banger, not 4, 4.5, or even close to 5.

Comment: Always been a casual fan of Apathy, but this album blew my mind. Has a much more mellow feel than what I would have expected, and I aint complaining about that. Almost got that L'orange feel on the production. Type of sh*t you just lay back and nod your head to. 'Dont Give Up the Ship' is like marijuana for my ears. This sounds like a Mello Music Group production album with Apathy featuring. I'm blown the f*ck away.

Comment: Solid album, feeling 9 out of the12 songs, don't sound like he is too happy to be "back in New England" on track two tho. I wonder how much he paid for the Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins samples. Listen to Jack Ruby then listen to "We Can Take This Outside" by Busta Rhymes. Overall, good quality music.

Comment: This is a great summer album. Amazing lyricism and a smooth vibe. Not everything needs to sound "hardcore" people. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every track on this project. A lot of people have said negative things about "The Grass Ain't Greener" but I'm obsessed. I dig the Kid Cudi-esk hook and the awesome message combined with Ap's stellar delivery.

Comment: This album will probably not be appreciated by all but I have to say that after the first spin I loved it and have loved it more with more listens. The feel of this album between the lyrics, skits... even the track titles. It has this murder mystery / scandal / dark ass criminal vibe to it. Listening to it is like watching a documentary on a murder on the bio channel (If that even makes sense). The Under The Bridge sample bothered me at first cause it sounded corny. Its also the first track so I was immediately worried but I was able to get over it pretty quickly. The album itself is just a solid album. Enjoyed it way more than Honkey Kong. Very original. Very enjoyable. 4.5/5 imo.

Comment: Ap is killing it! This album is solid from beginning to end. Maybe 1 or 2 tracks I'm not wild about, but the rest are dope! If anyone grew up in New England, this album paints the perfect picture. Its gritty and concepts are on point. Best work yet Ap, keep it coming!

Comment: This album is smart, really grown up man shit with historical references and everything.. It's clever, AP's bars and flow are better than ever, just incredible.. His production is getting really tight, a few obvious samples but really smooth and classy.. MChC - you hit it bang on dude, this is going to be on heavy rotation, it has a "summer album feel".. DON'T SLEEP, SUPPORT REAL HIP HOP!!! My only complaint, it's a little short, however I'll take quality over quantity any day. Worth the wait.

Comment: LP is incredible! A lot of times concept LPs don't work out but this is straight bangin'! Underground Chick and The Grass Ain't Greener were kinda, meh, they don't really sound like they fit in with the rest of the songs. Hate to nit pick though, LP is a definite must buy. And agreed with the cats below Ap's production keeps getting better. The beat for The Curse of the Kennedys is bonkers! Oh and I assume no Celph Titled features cause he's from FL and this being a concept LP about CT it would not have made sense for this concept LP to have him or any of the DGZ or ATOP cats on it.

Comment: Apathy is pretty much my favorite rapper ever. Besides Celph Titled, haha. Apathy is the f*cking man, is completely underrated/overlooked, and you never have to worry about him dropping weak music. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the production. Not that his beats are ever bad, but I'd prefer someone else besides himself, making his beats. YES, he can and has made bangers, but I was highly disappointed with the production on the Demigodz album. That was like a knife in the heart when I first heard that album. I had WAY too high expectations, comparing it to their debut EP, The Godz Must Be Crazy. That sh*t is straight classic, no question. Eastern Philosophy was RETARDED, and I'm hoping we get something as good as that again, production-wise. Where's Chum at?!
