After reuniting in the recent years of the New Jersey hip hop trio Artifacts (formed by Tame One, El da Sensei and DJ Kaos), the group strikes back with their 1994 debut album. The classic album 'Between a Rock and a Hard Place' is coming back to retail via the label Below System. The reissue contains 2 bonus remixes 'Dynamite Soul II [Lip Service Remix]' featuring Mad Skillz and 'It's Gettin' Hot [Remix]'. With production by T-Ray, Buckwild, Redman and the remixes produced by K-Def and EZ Elpee, the mixture of clever wordplay, energetic delivery and beats that knock and bring out the best of the two mc's.

Comment: In my opinion it's on point. They included the bonus cuts that flow well with the rest of the album, instead of overloading it with a bunch of filler.

Comment: Diaz, you sound the age of the people your complaining about with that comment. Just because your some hipster who's afraid of change doesn't mean the younger cats shouldn't get a chance to enjoy this, or that the older folks shouldn't get a chance to re-enjoy a classic. You're just an old cranky conservative is what I'm getting at.

Comment: One of the good things about these re-issues is that they're remastered. The sound quality for all my CD's from the 80's and 90's is outdated.

Comment: Still got my original version on tape and decided to up grade to the cd back around 99. Their second album was kinda nice also! To the bul that said they need to re-release that Real Live album I agree! I keep checking Amazon but the price stays around $35 or so. Still too rich for my blood.

Comment: I don't understand how "WHO I AM" wasn't featured on this reissue, knowing it was the B-Side to "Dynamite II" single, smh.

Comment: Great release, if you're young and missed out the first time, pick it up. I actually still have the cassette single of Dynamite Soul. I found it in the sleeve for the e=MC2 single. For those looking for the Real Live album, hit me up, I'll upload for download. peace.

Comment: I didn't even know there was a Dynamite Soul single much less a B-Side. I would love to hear it if it sounds as good as this classic album. Wonder why it wasn't included in this reissue. It would have made an excellent bonus track. I don't get record labels sometimes. I guess they figured not enough people purchased the single to even have heard the B-Side to it. Like I was mad when The Creator Remix wasn't on Pete Rock and CL Smooth's Mecca and the Soul Brother reissue. Excellent reissue. Well done except fot that song not being on it. Glad I still have my 12-inch because it's the B-Side to T.R.O.Y. single. Owe well. Guess I'll be hunting for the Dynamite Soul vinyl single so I can get that song. It's nothing new. I'm used to digging and searching. You can't count on record labels to reissue all the songs you liked. It pays to hold on to your old records and tapes. Hope you've still got yours. Peace! Not many people purchased the singles from this album and the Pete Rock and CL Smooth albums because they were so good. Once word got out that the albums were so hot, people didn't bother buying the singles anymore unless they were DJ's. Plus the singles to both these albums were put out after the albums were released. Word of mouth got around that the albums were hot so there was no need to get the single unless it had a remix that was popular. Back then people were very selective about what albums the bought because it wasn't like today where you can preview the whole album and only buy the songs you liked. Back then you had to make sure you were gonna get your money's worth and people didn't have money to be buying garbage albums with one or two good songs.

Comment: Saw these cats at the instore on Friday, I'm familiar with Tame from the EC side, leak bros and when rappers attack, so his shit with artifacts is pretty new to me, definitely feeling it. Never really realized how much he'd done that I was unaware of, thought I was on top of my game lol
