Comment: Brother Ali drops this new 12" on Midwest's finest Rhymesayers Entertainment. A sign of the times, Brother Ali lets his listeners know he and our nation desire more truth. The intro starts with Brother Ali quietly chanting, "The truth is here, the truth is here…" Gradually increasing the volume of his voice, he segues directly into the chorus of, “I want more, we need more, I want more goddamn it!" It's an effective hook that got me wanting more of, quite frankly, anything that was in the room at the time of listening. The beat is laid down by Ant (the behind the scenes half of Atmosphere) who caters his usual Slug-friendly production to Brother Ali. Brother Ali is dope. He rides the beat lovely while flexing his lyrical skill. As a sidenote, I once saw Brother Ali rock the crowd while opening up for Rakim in Washington, DC. And this wasn't a friendly crowd. They were impatient, drunk, and jonesing for the R. They'd already booed an opening act so relentlessly that the artists actually apologized and cut it short. Anyhow, the point of me rambling on is that Brother Ali must be dope if he hyped the crowd on that particular evening when all anybody wanted to see was the God. Plus if you buy the 12", you get the extra cool cover art of a radical young kid sporting a mohawk. And he looks like he means business.
