Comment: Do you think Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff still talk? And if they got into a dispute over the publishing rights to “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and it came to fisticuffs, who do you think would win? I suppose it wouldn’t much matter as Carlton (Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s snobby brother) would whoop both their asses and take the rights to whatever he damn well pleased. I always felt bad for Carlton’s character. He went from being the smooth as hell Alfonso from Silver Spoons to the nerdy uptight buppy on Fresh Prince. Remember when the rumor started that Alfonso broke his neck while breakdancing? This was around the same time my fifty year old gym teacher was attempting to teach us how to do the continuous backspin in my elementary gym school class. Suburban parents were in an uproar about this new dance that was simply “too black” for their children. So people started all these stupid ass rumors about kids getting paralyzed and killed from b-boying. There were articles in the newspaper on how dangerous it was. I even had a Mad Magazine issue where the back folded out to reveal and emergency room full of breakdancers. Bananas. Anyhow, needless to say I eventually found out the Alfonso rumors were trash when he showed up as the annoying Carlton on Fresh Prince. Ironically, his laughed at outfits would now make him the man at any northeaster college or university where the tuition is upwards of forty large a year. Sorry, I haven’t reviewed a damn thing yet. This Jazzy Jeff produced track features neo-soul (I love these little labels that allow us to box in and pigeonhole our favorite artists) star Raheem DeVaughn. Jazz once again flexes his skills behind the boards as he serves up a soulful, latenight with your lady sonic backdrop, allowing DeVaughn to croon the night away.

Summary: A Great Collab By The Two, And An Awesome Choice Of Sample From Bobby Caldwell.
Comment: I was riding down the street after work and I decided to turn the radio on 102.5 here in Atlanta,GA. It was then that Micheal Basden played the hit by DJ Jazzy Jeff, the first thing that caught my ear was the sample of Bobby Caldwell's hit "what you won't do for love". You know, the ending part of the song with the beautiful combination of the mello french horn melody, cresendoing strings, and bass riding the song; That's of my favorite sections of the song. Then you have Raheem singing the lyrics "my soul ain't for sale". Enough said right there. I think it's a great message to those that are aspiring artist to hear from another artist because there are so many out on the scene without the love for music. Meaning, even if it means to jump through flaming hoops with gasoline underware on just to make money, their going to do it. Nah, not these two. Raheem as well as many other underground artist are coming up and sticking to what's true for them; Self. Keep up the great work Brothers!
