Summary: Socially Conscious Lyrics
Comment: It is good to hear some people rhyming about things other than ice, ho's, and Beamers. The beat is hot, one of those that you can chill and blaze one up to.
Name: Al Tha Butcher (Posted: 1/16/2003 5:12:00 AM)
Summary: Mellow Herbal Groove
Comment: Dudley Perkins aka Declaime is right on with this smoked out track. He's not the greatest lyricist ever, but he is definitely havin fun on this joint.
Declaime's nonchalant flow is kind of soothing. I'm unfamiliar with the producer, but I'm feelin the beat. If you want mind blowing lyrics look somewhere else. But if you want a nice track to blow some trees to.. this joint is perfect.

Summary: Aural Pleasure
Comment: For those who don't know, Dudley Perkins is an MC from Oxnard CA. His usual name is Declaime and you might know him from his extensive work with Madlib. This is pretty typical for Declaime. His flow is not complicated, but he has a fun loving charisma about him. I don't know the producer, but this track is ill. A good tune to flip on for late night herb sessions.

Comment: This is actually Declaime and the track is off an excellent 12 inch with this and another mix of "Fault," plus another track which is also worth checking out. There is one other song available by Declaime under the name of Dudley Perkins: “Flowers."

Comment: I have to be honest with y'all, I ain't never heard of these cats. Shocking ain't it!? But damn, I'm kinda feelin' this. An ill jazzy slow beat is complemented nicely by crisp sliding scratches while an agitated reggae guitar is a definite hit-maker. The lyrics ain't really sayin' much, it's more like a spiffed-out 2 AM freestyle session, but the general feel of the record shows real potential. Now I ain't trying to come off like pretentious or nuttin' but Kid and Dudley definitely got something right here. Watch this space…

Summary: I's Not My Fault But It Is Your Fault
Comment: Horrendous rhyme scheme mash this track to the floor. Count how many times it's not your fault is repeated throughout, it exceeds the amount of violence in a Martin Scorcese flick . Production is on a Jay Dee blueprint gone terribly wrong, very monotonous and slow but who wants to make an uplifting beat to these lyrics? Press skip on the CD player. 2/10
