Comment: Itís funny that I was given a current RJD2 track to review. For starters, Iíve always been somewhat indifferent to his music. Didnít really dislike it, but at the same time I wasnít all, ďSeriously guys, dude is like the second coming of Christ, honestly itís like DJ Shadow plus El-P all rolled into oneĒ about him either. Secondly, the truth is RJD2 has veered in a complete different direction from his earlier, more beat based work. And heís trying to hand as a vocalist this time around as well. But different is not necessarily a bad thing. Itís often a wonderful thing. To be honest, Iím sure all the RJD2 die hards are all blogging about how he sold out or is one some Common Electric Circus shit. Perhaps I would have been too if Big Daddy Kane had dropped a bluegrass music in 1990. And to be honest. Who cares? Let the dude do what he wants. If you donít like it, go out and make your own album the way you want. And you know itís going to be one of those albums that in like ten years all the kids hating it are gonna switch up and be like, ďMan, RJís The Third Hand album was just soooooo ahead of itís time. Nobody was ready to appreciate it. Dude was just thinking outside the box. Such a classic.Ē And maybe it is. I donít know. Time will tell I suppose. But the truth is thereís no way I would be asked to review this or that any hip hop site would be selling it if RJD2 hadnít released his two previous efforts. It simply is not a hip hop record. And if you go out and buy it expecting it to be, you will be disappointed. Itís like taking a sip out of a glass of milk when youíre expecting orange juice. Might be the greatest milk ever from some supercow from Mars, but youíre gonna hate it because you werenít expecting it and were by no means prepared to digest it. Anyhow as far as singer-songwriter tracks that sell on a hip hop site, I kind of like it. I honestly donít even know how to define itís genre. Perhaps it defies definition. Perhaps this is what RJ wanted. You ainít gonna box me in. Canít pigeonhole the D2. If Chris Tucker can stop doing Friday movies so he doesnít get typecast as the weedhead, then RJD2 can stop doing hip hop albums (in the pure sense) so that he doesnít get typecast as a progressive hip hop producer. You go RJ. Do you thing. And on top of all this, I kind of like his voice. And if you donít share my opinion, well then not to worry. Fortunately for you, RJD2 is hailed as a production genius so they will forever release his stuff as strictly instrumentals as well. You know what, by the instrumental, record your own vocals, see if you can outshine him and then and only then can you hate.

Summary: I Really Don't Know About This One
Comment: One of the better RJD2 beats, the singer is a lil weak but it fits the song. I'm not sure if I actally like it or not at around 2:00 in the song I start to like it more. The piano makes the song fer sure.
