Summary

SANTA MONICA, CA - April 25, 2011 - The Bad Meets Evil teaming in the late '90s of underground Detroit MC's Eminem and Royce da 5'9" became a rap legend of unfulfilled promise. Now, a decade after they last recorded together, Eminem and Royce da 5'9" have revived their Bad Meets Evil project, today officially announcing that an EP on Shady/Interscope Records will be released June 14th.

"Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio," said Eminem. "At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are."

Added Royce, "I'm excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now. We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we're working on the 'Monster' that will be the Slaughterhouse album. #TeamShady."

The two first met in 1997 at a concert in Detroit and soon formed Bad Meets Evil (Royce as Bad and Eminem as Evil). But they released just a few recordings, including the song "Bad Meets Evil" on Eminem's major label debut, The Slim Shady LP and a heralded independent Bad Meets Evil 12" featuring the now underground classic, "Scary Movies." The pair went their separate ways in their solo careers only to be separated by a reluctant feud, thus making it the last time they would be heard together for several years. Sadness over the tragic shooting death of mutual friend Proof in 2006 led to mended fences with Eminem's group D12, which prompted an eventual reconciliation between the two rappers. Eminem and Royce were finally once again on speaking terms after Royce was featured on D12's 2008 mixtape Return Of The Dozen and later went on tour with the group.

Since then, Royce has continued his acclaimed solo career (all three of his officially released albums, most recently 2009's Street Hop, have cracked the Top 40 R&B/Hip-hop chart). With rap stalwarts Joe Budden, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz, he has also formed Slaughterhouse, recently signed to Eminem's Shady Records. In addition, Slaughterhouse contributed a bonus track to the digital deluxe edition of Eminem's blockbuster 2010 Recovery album.

The bulk of the EP's production was helmed by longtime collaborator and D12 member, Mr. Porter (a/k/a Kon Artis) and also features contributions from Mobb Deep's Havoc, DJ Khalil and Bangladesh among others.

Comment: Lyrically, these 2 are on top of their game. The way Eminem and Royce trade verses back and forth is something to be heard. And Royce is one of the few who can actually keep up with Em. If you want straight lyrical stuff then this album is it. The first two songs are amazing, they give it their all there. Eminem's verse on "FastLane" is one of the best he's ever done. So why the 2 stars? Because the production, for the most part, is straight garbage. With the exception of the first track, produced by Havoc. If you're gonna spit non-stop battle rhymes the beats better be good but most of them here are terrible. And once you listen to this once, you have no desire to listen to it again except for the first 2 songs.

Comment: this shits terrible man......Detroit Wisemen 4 eva!....only reason this album gets 2 stars is because of production from havoc and sid roams....even tho eminem sounds more horrible than ever over them......his voice makes me cringe, and royce is mediocre sounding on this

Comment: I own nothing released after the Eminem Show. But you have to give respect where respect is due. Sure the beats are more commercial than most of us here can stomach BUT... how are you gonna diss these two insane lyricists on this EP?! The chemistry is insane plus they feed off each other like no one since Tek & Steele on "Dah Shinin" for an entire album. They went all out on this one, and they succeeded in walking the thin line between commercial and hardcore on this one.

Comment: Mediocre, Em and Royce are dope, and damn I hope Joey and Bravo, produces and entire album soon, that reunion beat is dope as hell, but that said, I can't remember ever, and I mean ever, hearing a dope mr. porter beat, and I have heard plenty of his shit, why couldn't you use a couple more of Havoc/Sid Roams or Alchemist beats instead..

Comment: This is a fantastic album from Bad Meets Evil. Hopefully they can release an LP with beats from DJ Premier, Dr Dre and Pete Rock (he said he wanted to work with Eminem). Overall, this is a great album. Anyone hating this album is just a dickrider that thinks he's cool because hes underground. This album may not be as good as Heavy Metal Kings or In Gods We Trust, Crush Microphones To Dust but it's still solid. I don't mind the production, but this could have had more of a '90s boom-bap feel. I don't like some of the choruses, but other than that, fantastic album. 5 stars from me.

Comment: Whew (cracks knuckles)... uhhhhh... Em SUCKS!!! He is a decent enough lyricist if you are into Mother Goose, which I am not. He is the nursery rhyme KING!!! All HAIL... (to the sound of all 2 to 5 year olds dropping sippy cups attempting not to piss their pamper's pull-ups while they await dopeness from this cartoon character). GARBAGE. No no no... I inSIST. He IS trash. He is not hotter than anyone else on the radio either... They are all equal as far as garbage goes. If someone puts trash directly in your hand... would you then shove said trash in your ear??? Simple logic. The answer is NO... resoundingly. However, some can almost feel the rotten tomatoes sliding down their faces... they'll stick out their tongues to taste it. They KNOW its savor is horrible but they eat it anyway. Cats like that grew up on my block to be idiots. So it is with all dick riding radio lovers. Hope I didn't touch on a painful subject. 1 star is an insult by the way. Let it be so. Stop crying.

Comment: considering the last couple of albums that em dropped, he actually came correct on this album lyrically. Beats arent that bad either. Royce always has his shit on lockdown so I gave this album a shot and copped it. I still think they both should mess with a whole premo album
