Summary

Born in Sidi Hasseen, (a very rough area of the city of Tunis) in Tunisia, is the voice of the people, Balti. As a rapper/ producer/ composer, Balti has been in the African Hip Hop scene since early 2000. Recognized as the "Arabic 2Pac" and godfather of rap music in North Africa, Balti has impacted people of all ages with his symbolic message and knowledge throughout each song. When a fan listens to Balti's music, they hear the rhymes and beat each tell a story throughout every song. Through the success of getting national radio play in Tunisia, as well as international TV appearances on major networks, Balti has now been exposed on an international level throughout Africa and Europe. Getting straight of a tiring one month of touring with 33 shows, Balti made this mixtape, "L'Album Avant L'Albombe" (The Album Before The Bomb) before the anticipated release of his first official album through Raw Poetix Records as a brief introduction to who he is as a rapper and producer. Be on the lookout for his production album debut with very special guests!

Comment: We have been following this debate and we are sad to see the turn it took. We are not trying to take sides or anything like that but we'd like to correct some of the statements made here: - Balti does not use ghost writers, and the main reason the label has signed him is his talent as a song writer and a rapper. His production skills has evolved drastically later on and earned him the respect of many well known producers in the US and France. - Our label promotes dialogue between different sides and opinions and we take pride in our ethnic, religious, and geographic diversity. We believe music can shorten the bridges between civilizations and we consider it our mission to reflect that in our productions. - We respect and take seriously all honest and unbiased criticism and opinions; however we discard any feedback unbiased by hate, prejudice, personal issues, etc. - As mentioned previously, we aim to create and promote responsible and intellectual dialogue between different civilizations. We do not promote hateful exchanges between people from different backgrounds. Express your opinion and allow the other side to do so while being respectful to each other. Thank you very much, we will appreciate tremendously if nobody posts wrong or unproven information; however if anybody does we will respond and correct false statements.

Comment: To Aymen: The new album "Journal" will be out in Tunisia and online in May 2010, and in Europe in July 2010. Balti will be performing in Memphis, Tennesse (US) on May 1st 2010. Summer tour (30 shows) in Tunisia begins June 21st 2010. Hey Aymen, let me know if you need any info about Balti. Also check out the new Tunisian rapper Raw Poetix (Balti's label) has signed: Mr Mustapha. His myspace URL is mrmustaphaofficiel. Also brother, ignore these assholes and hopefully they will disappear and go back to the Nancy & Haifa's forums where they belong.

Comment: To the guy from Lebanon, you really make no sense. Your basically an idiot. I have no doubt you are a spoiled rich kid living in the nicest part in Lebanon. Dont try and act "ghetto" and "hardcore" because it doesnt work. Im sure you know this but, North Africans make 1000 times better hip-hop than arabs in middle east. theirs no competition. 2 Many HABIBIS. Algeria, Morocco & Tunisia by far produce the best hip-hop, which is why the biggest rappers in Germany and France are North African descent and NOT Middle Eastern....theres a reason for that...regarding Blaise from Canada,I see your point of view and I also see Tunisiano's. This topic is a dead end issue, that wont lead to anything...no use in argueing about it whos right and whos wrong. I agree with that. Anyone know when the actual album is coming out?

Comment: Well actually I just arbitrarily chose the rating as a means for expressing my disagreement with people people's bias'. The music itself is average to me, probably a 3 out of 5. I won't listen to good lyrics if I don't enjoy the music, just saying. And I should tell you, it's kind of funny to me that you are speaking out against people taking words out of context when your calling me a "pacifier" is based on a misinterpretation of what I just said. I wasn't speaking about the rapper, I was talking about the people arguing in the thread. But regarding these issues I've found over time that everybody comes in trying to act swift and fresh and educated about it, but they always seem to have conclusions regarding the situation. People will say "I'm not prejudice, I want peace in the middle East.." Then when you dig a little deeper they seem to think there's no problem in saying the holocaust never happened or some other ridiculous shit. Tunisiano dude, save yourself some time, don't both arguing about issues like these, people made up their mind before they ever talked to you, and don't be calling someone a pacifier, it just shows that you're affected by these oppinions. Got to grow a chin and let that shit deflect off of you, just saying. Peace.

Comment: If you don't understand the words, don't critique the artist. I think anybody should agree with that regardless of which side they support. Also there's no side here. Balti is the spokesperson of Tunisian youth not of Palestinians, Lebanese, Jews, or Americans. His music is directed to his people so if you're not, you won't be able to understand even if you are Arabic bc the Tunisian dialect is different and hard to understand for MiddleEastern Arabs. I'm still waiting to see somebody talk about how he described the lost childhood dreams, poverty, misery, wars, mother's love, illegal immigration, unemployment, lack of opportunities, lack of freedom, prejudices, etc.. Unfortunately, all I see is pissed off Arabs because he rapped with an Israeli MC despite the fact that he expressed the popular view of the Arabic street, and pissed off Jews because he condemned the crimes committed against civilians in Palestine. The big fucking problem is nobody understands what the guy is talking about, they just take words out of context and use them to justify their unsubstantiated comments. Finally, I have a question for the Canadian pacifier: on which ground did you base your one star rating? Did you listen to the album, have you understood the lyrics, have you even ever heard of Balti or known where is he from?

Comment: Anybody who picks a side on an issue that complex, is an idiot, no matter how articulate and well spoken they may be. If you pick a side, you have a bias, end of story, stop arguing.

Comment: Now we got the prejudice from the other side. Mihau, Balti is not a terrorist. He raises the injustices to which the Palestinian people are subject. Go ahead and translate everything and you will understand he never attacked jews, he did attack zionists and everybody who has Palestinian and Arab blood on their hands. Also, he doesn't need the support of people like you, he's got the support of his own people and fans. Finally, where the hell did u translate track 5 bc that track is not even about politics you ignorant fuck. Whats wrong with the people here, double check your shit before writing a comment unless you guys don't have shit to do but talk shit fuckin haters. Peace out bitches

Comment: First, Balti is the voice of Tunisians breaking through censorship, fear, and lack of freedom. He is a street poet that has been describing the life of marginalized youth in the Tunisian society. Second, Balti has been an advocate of the Palestinian cause but he is intelligent and articulate enough to distinguish between Judaism and Zionism. Attacking him because of the track with Kosha Dillz is ridiculous and it only implies that Chlingui and the Lebanese dude didn't even pay attention to what he's talking about in that song. Moreover, both of you and any other like you should check out his Ghaza track which according to many Palestinians was playing all over the place in Ghaza and West Bank. Many Palestinian rappers are big fans of Balti. Third, I hate to do this but our friend from Lebanon forced me to, before making a man out of Balti as you said you guys should start with all your fagot male singers popping out of Lebanon singing and crying about love in every freakin song. Fourth, and this is in Arabic for whoever understands: Idha Atatka Madhammati min nekiss fe tilka echahada bi anni al kamel. Peace out
