SummaryThe new single from Disques Sinthomme features tracks by The Beat Broker and Lars Behrenroth, along with remixes from Citizen Kane and Smith & Mudd. DS builds on the success of its previous critically-acclaimed releases with an ambitious new 12" featuring the work of some of today's most relevant dance music producers. Side A begins with The Beat Broker's "Cactus Cooler", a chilled piece of Dance Electronica, that combines modulated synth sounds with a latin tinged beat. The track builds from its keyboard inception to a percussive/tone crescendo, evoking a sense of place and time while creating a house party mood. Cosmic and Disco, shaken not stirred. Citizen Kane's "White Night Riot" remix of the track branches off of its central melody, but changes the approach, using live instrumentation (strings and drums).
Kane brings a heated Afro/orchestral swing to the proceedings. A warmer "Cooler" that moves hard for the floor. Side B features Lars Behrenroth's "The Beach", a pulsing track that reflects its title in its structure. Emerging from a gentle atmospheric beginning, the song accrues weight and momentum with each bar; elegant and sublime, it envelops and sways with just the right urgency. Smith & Mudd's remix brings the song into a lush verdant arrangement, guitars and strings adds a folk lyricism, while giving it a mystery that expands the songs tenor, vibrating like a perfect afternoon. Each of the songs on the single has a distinct flavor andapproach and yet all are complimentary, taking modern or "new" Disco to even more adult levels of sophistication and specificity, while maintaining the drive to party and dance.
