After dropping back to back classics with "Sidewalk Science" (2011) and "Concrete Soul" (2012), Brick City veteran and Ill Adrenaline Records co-founder Beneficence unleashes his 6th solo LP "Basement Chemistry". Armed with the true sounds of the golden era Benef drops rejuvenated flows and shares mics with hip-hop's elite lyricists. The lineup includes Inspectah Deck (of Wu-Tang Clan), Masta Ace, MC Eiht, El Da Sensei, AG (of D.I.T.C), Dres (of Black Sheep), The Legion, Chubb Rock, MindsOne, and Estee Nack (of Tragic Allies). Once again the close Artifacts affiliate traps the listener into slick, thought provoking rhymes backed by hard hitting yet soulful production from DJ Spinna, Da Beatminerz, 12 Finger Dan, Confidence, L'Orange, Presto, KON Sci, Jazz Spastiks, and many more. 19-tracks strong, the dusty and raw sounding full length displays a perfect blend of street jewels like the Inspectah Deck laced "Digital Warfare" and the Masta Ace inspiring anthem "When The Sun Comes". The P Original produced banger "EZ As 1-2" opens the album brilliantly showing Benef's relaxed but witty cadence. "Basement Chemistry" travels down many avenues including the battle rap driven joint "Against The Grain" and storytelling saga "Maui Vacation". The album's formula stays true to the game with obscure samples, intricate cuts, and official boom bap sound.

Comment: I was disappointed in this album! It seem beneficence lacked hunger in his rhymes and the production was to soft like he was trying to attract commercial audience! The way the album was even mixed was not goodd certain songs Sound like demos.the titled and cover were even simple.something to check out but nothing special

Comment: Finally something melodious for your eardrums!!! real mature boom bap sounds all the way. would have been nice to have a kev brown or 5th Sequence beat but its very obvious that Beneficence has good taste for melodious boombap. we really need more of these albums cos unfortunately "wackiness, childishness and the plastic life" has become the norm in hip-hop nowadays. Big up MindsOne, Supastition, Kev Brown, Moka Only and everyone who's keeping real hip-hop alive!

Comment: I have already rated Basement Chemistry 5 stars. After listening the album for a couple of days I want to rate it 6 stars. Unfortunately I don't have this option. Don't get me wrong, this is not the album if the century or something like that, but is definitely one of the best albums if the last 5 years. The beats are so diverse and soulful and the old school cats are spittin' flames. Even though the styles are totally different, Basement Chemistry, offered me the same feeling Afu-Ra's first album gave me back in the days. This is a 2016 album and it sounds so good. Congrats to Beneficence and the producers for the music! This is how rap should sound, innovative, soulful, intelligent and different.

Comment: Much luv and respect to Beneficence for being as dope as ever and for never selling out for over 2 decades in Hip Hop. As an MC, the serious skills are clearly evident and he has used a slew of decent producers too. This LP doesn't disappoint in any way and is arguably as good as his previous effort 'Concrete Soul' which was simply a beautiful piece of dope art on the ears! Def a 5 star effort once again and thanx to Bene for helping to maintain my faith in real hip hop!

Comment: Five stars. This is real grown man rap. Straight from Brick City, the co-owner of Ill Adrenaline Records chalks up another classic LP. I had been waiting for a long time for this to drop and it delivers on all accounts. Intelligent street raps over soulful production. The variety of talented veteran rappers that join Beneficence and the wide selection of dope beatmakers make for a most satisfying listen! Support real hip hop and cop this!

Comment: Just hearing 'The Shaolin Shadowboxer' in the beginning of 'Digital Warfare' had me hyped like 'Bring the Ruckus' was about to come on. Been f*cking with Benif since 'Suckas Brevity' and the 'Thin Line/ Low Profile Man' 12". Good to see his last few albums getting the credit they deserve. The Sidewalk Science album with Diamond D production was classic, just like this will be. Good features and awesome lineup of producers.

Comment: I can't wait for this to drop, Benif is a killer on the mic, just listen to 'Digital Warfare', c'mon, Concrete Soul was bangin as well. Stop hatin' on real emcee's. Plus Inspectah Deck is royalty in the underground, and even mainstream…

Comment: You trippin'? "Over more creditable producers", LOL! Better reset your eardrums or you're wastin' your time on an artist you don't dig. Beneficence and Ill Adrenaline are representing quality & talent nine years already!

Comment: This is what I'm talking about. Brother man has skills, plus an ear for music. Even the title and cover is simple but effective because we all chilled in a basement somewhere with some peeps and beats banging. The line-up is stacked as f*ck. 2016 will be a good year indeed!
