    Summary

After trailblazing around the globe numerous times with Gang Starr as a core member of the Gang Starr Foundation, Big Shug, who has appeared on Gang Starr's classics such as 1994's Hard To Earn "F.A.L.A.," 1998's Moment Of Truth "The Militia" and 2003's Gold-certified The Ownerz "Capture" (Militia Pt.3), follows up his last street savvy endeavor, I.M. 4-EVA (2012), with his new project, Triple OGZus, which will be released on 3/17/15.

While MoSS, Reel Drama and Kidd Called Quest contribute production, staying true to the Gang Starr Foundation formula, Big Shug recreates his indelible bond with DJ Premier on the albums two singles and videos, "Off Rip," which also features Termanology and Singapore Kane, and "I Bleed For This". Preemo produces three tracks in total on Triple Ogzus and as Shug states, the bond the two have fostered over the years only continues to grow "Premier is my brother, and with all the technology, and changing faces, we are still the same. We are on the same page when we make songs, we still bug out. We represent the Gang Starr legacy. And we are serious about that!"

Big Shug explains "Triple OGzus represents me as a street veteran, underground icon and original gangster who is always wise to the game. I love the fans and will always represent authentic hip-hop music with my soul."

Comment: Finally gave this a full listen. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Big Shug definitely deserves triple OG status. The album comes in hard with "I Am Somebody". Dope, in your face Premo joint. There is a nice variety of production on this one, shout to Kid Called Quest. Shug doesn't need to break new grounds or change his style up, his voice and mic presence are what makes him a beast, and hard grown-ass rhymes. Some people aren't into the Shuggie Diamond singing on some tracks, but I can't lie, I'm feeling it. Listen to "Days Go By", tell me that's not hot! Great release from a Boston OG. Gang Starr Foundation for life!

Comment: @ Mad 1: Actually, yes, that was Big Shug in the movie Clear History. IMDB has him credited and it's everywhere on Google, and says so in the movie credits at the end. And if you open your eyes you can clearly see that it's him. He was also in "The Heat" starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

Comment: Dope album! Shug brings it, no doubt; good features and a very consistent album. All three Preemo beats are amazing (big surprise...); but what I really liked and was surprised about were the beats by Kidd Called Quest; he definitely brought it, was nice to hear. A real underground album and I couldn't have really asked for more - other than a Guru feature, of course. 4/5, cop it!

Comment: BIG SHUG really pulled out the heavy artillery on this album. No puny copycat simile, fake drug lord raps here, only the real hard core for those who love and lived that life, and those who take pride in having integrity. This is no phony but a real OG who lived through it. Some of these suburban kids can not relate to REAL hip hop, they think it's some circus sh*t. The old, rich, white corporate boys try and make it a circus but you still have the real dudes like: Big Shug, Lone Ninja, Apakalypse & Lord Gamma, all of who operate above the corporate rules. If you want the real (Straight, No Chaser); then here it is. Every song is tight. I already have the digital copy, came here to buy a physical copy and noticed clowns giving low scores. "Make Moves, Get Money" has been on repeat the entire first day of this album's release, although I did give the entire album a thorough listen and every song is indeed drum tight.

Comment: I agree, the singing should stop. It's still better than Kendrick Lamar though. Hopefully next album Suge will go back to the raw hip hop and have more Premier and Alchemist beats! Sh*t even a 9th Wonder or Pete Rock beat would be dope with him. And why isn't Edo G on this album?

Comment: Why he has to sing so much - I don't remember a single track by Shug when it was cool or even tolerable - this wack ass singing pretty much ruins it. Someone should him to stop that.

Comment: Bought this album because it was blended by the Producers, but sorry, this guy can't rap.

Comment: "Off Rip" is hot, could have done w/out the verse from my boy Term. Too much energy, doesn't go.

Comment: Why does DJ Premier give two incredible beats to such a heavily overrated emcee like Big Shug? Dude can't even sing properly. I don't care if he is part of the Gangstarr Foundation. Dude is weak as an MC, and don't even start about his singing. Waste of good beats, if you ask me. Only his first album, "Who's Hard," was really good, and that was mostly because of the beats provided by Premier and the Alchemist. Cop at own risk.

Comment: I just listened to the snippets and I don't think I'm coping this. It sounds lame, not the other releases his heart ain't in it. Sad!

Comment: That wasn't Shug in "Clear History." You're talking about the security guard watching the door at the concert? I thought so too, but somebody on my twitter said it was his boy that played that part, so that's how I know.

Comment: I can't wait for this. Premo on the boards, well like 6 tracks but come on. M-Dot, Term, Singapore Kane, and Reks, Boston's finest at work on this one plus the NY flavor Premo!
