Item Summary
Blu is the leader of West Coast Hip Hop. Since the days of Pharcyde, Freestyle Fellowship, and Jurassic 5, there have been few wordsmiths that have grasped the attention of listeners worldwide. Introduced to NWA and Public Enemy by his father, Blu later was captivated by the likes of Black Star, The Roots, and Common, creating a unique balance that is displayed in Blu's personality and music.

Blu's first full length LP, "Below the Heavens" pairs Blu with producer Exile on the Sound in Color imprint. His first single, "Narrow Path" has rocked stages across the world, as fans begin to feel the impact of Blu's music. His delivery flows flawlessly, while the content reflects the joy and pain of working class youth everywhere. Since the release of "Narrow Path," Blu has performed alongside Slum Village, X-Clan, Platinum Pied Pipers, Lyrics Born, DJ Houseshoes, and many others, while participating in 3 high-profile nationwide tours alongside musical family members: Ta'Raach, Aloe Blacc, and Exile.

The buzz has fans salivating for new music. Worldwide, people are looking to put hope into the ‘next' emcee that will give them the same feeling when they first heard Black Thought, Common, or Slum Village. Blu fulfills this need, but maintains something that is entirely new, while not recycled.

For years, Blu's debut album Below the Heavens was only available on CD and a low-quality European bootleg LP. Packaged in hand-numbered gatefold jackets and strictly limited, this is the first official vinyl release of this album. The legend behind Below the Heavens grows even bigger as Blu's career ascends into the heavens for his major label release on Warner.

Comment: The hate here is ridiculous. Have an opinion but if your facts are all wrong then you're obviously hating just for the sake of hating. Do your research. This album is 5 years old so saying things like; 'everything has to be gay friendly nowaday... fuckin makes me wanna puke' is just stupid and irrelevant.

Comment: What a bunch of haters. Not all hip hop has to be hard. This album may not be for everyone but its original and creative. Not the same regurgitated "hard" lyrics that all these clowns think has to be on an album for it to be good. Dudes did something REAL and did it well. didn't just make up a whole bunch of shit cause it sells records.

Comment: One of the greatest albums of all time. All these 3 star or less reviews make me wonder if people really listened to it. Blu speaks about legit problems the entire way through over ill Exile beats. Out of 15 tracks there's only 1 I might skip. But even that one is horrible.

Comment: this re-release was done by the label, essentially behind blu and exile's back. the bootleg copies were actually made by blu, blu and exile had a falling out with the label so blu and exile aren't making anything off this

Comment: Its ok..very well put together but theres just nothing special about it. I agree with cheerleadkilla, its too safe. It's college kid with an easy life music. None of the conflict and humanity that hip-hop was born from. I occasionally dig the ethereal production but its abused here. Some do it well but this just bores the sh*t out of me. Definite talent but no soul. 2.5 stars for me...

Comment: @Bas&2nice-I agree with both of you. Around my way we call it "safe n*gga hip hop." That's what the hipsters want to hear.If it's "pleasant" enough to play in a coffee shop, fan boys call it a classic.

Comment: Why the fuck is this out of print again? As fast as the re-issue sold out, you'd think someone would have a little business sense and use a couple brain cells and keep this album in print, as obviously, it'll keep selling. I sure as fuck ain't paying those stupid jacked up second hand prices, but I'd cop this disc if I could buy it from a record store at normal album price.

Blu changed my outlook on life and is one of the few rappers in the game right now who projects his raw emotions, feelings and thoughts on a track. He is a true artist along with Exile whos production is masterful on this album.

Comment: ABSOLUTELY DOPE!!!! This is what hip-hop music is all about!!! Raw, truthful, and soulful. I usually don't give a 5 star rating cause that would mean an album has to be consistent an on point like a mafucka! Blu and Exile definitely get the 5 star for this "CLASSIC". The "Narrow Path" speaks to me like Peter Parker's spider sense. Dope shit my dudes!!!! Dope indeed! J.U.-ICE

Comment: This album is where hip hop needs to start heading. Some of the lyrics of this album made me smile at times or get that crazy chill from a line that was so deep it was shocking. Blue is a very talented rapper. Exile is an amazing producer. His ear for music is just jaw dropping. I love this duo. They are the hottest thing I believe so far in a LOOONGGGG TIME.

Comment: Some of the beats outshine others, but overall the album has a consistent flow. Worth picking up - classic and soulful - sounds like it was released in the late 90's when greats like Mos Def, Talib and Common dropped some of their best. Brings you back to that time - production on "Show me the good life" is bananas.

Comment: This album was mad slept on last yr... Blu got busy on all the tracks & let catz know who he is... The productions was cool but could have been better at times... Simply Amazin is the hardest track & blu shitz on it... Blu is a throw back to the early 90's when Mc's use to get busy over track....This album is a hard act to follow & Blu is one of the best Underground Mc's...

Comment: Simply one of the most beautiful hip hop CDs I have ever listened to. This is soul in a jewel case. No bullshit, no filler, Blue & exile are perfect examples of the direction in which Hip Hop needs to head. People are starving for REAL music that they can relate too. Cop this without a second thought.

Comment: 3.5 stars overall. Above average lyrics from Blu, and nice soulful production from Exile. The only negative is that the production sounds the same and it's a little on the soft side. I need to see more versatility behind the boards from exile, BUT it's definitely better than his solo album.
