Summary

Legendary Bronx-bred hip-hop duo Camp Lo burst onto the scene in 1997, when their classic debut album Uptown Saturday Night (and it's anthemic single "Luchini") introduced fans to the Lo's intricate flows and cutting-edge slang editorials. Nearly two decades later, Camp Lo emcees Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba are back with Ragtime Hightimes, a brand new album produced by longtime collaborator Ski Beatz. Although he's worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Mos Def, Curren$y, Mac Miller, Freddie Gibbs, and many more, Ski has always shared a special creative connection with Camp Lo. "Ski is the 3rd member of the Lo," explains Suede. "Ain't no end to it..only new beginnings."

Ragtime Hightimes finds Camp Lo and Ski Beatz pushing past boundaries while staying true to their creative vision. "This piece is different 'cause we were in a different space," says Suede. "It's always gonna be us, just different versions of ourselves. We're exploring different dimensions in visual sound texture." While much of their classic material was sample-based, the group is now experimenting with live instrumentation more than ever before. "The originality remains," adds Cheeba. "There are differences in sound, mostly due to the live instruments." Overall, the result is a singular piece of "time traveling art" that is sure to resonate for years to come. "This album just feels good," explains Suede. "It's our favorite way to feel."

Comment: Lyrically is great, but the beats are weak. However, Camp Lo still the same like they did in the 90s, just pick it if you like their chiba cbiba style :)

Comment: It's like they just popped out of 1996 & dropped a new album. THIS is a great example of what hip hop was to me until new artists at the time like Em, DMX & Ruff Ryders came and f'd everything up. Flashy yet urban to the core!

Comment: Can't wait for this! Ski Beats said he was going to produce the entire album. His beats are notable "Dead Presidents" for Jay-Z and most of Camp Lo's classics. This is going to be a banger.
