    Summary

Nineteen Ninety Now is finally here and a hip-hop renaissance is about to begin! The art form is brought full-circle through this groundbreaking collaboration between underground giant Celph Titled and production legend Buckwild (D.I.T.C.)! Showing that the lessons from the past can be combined with the innovations of the present, these two heavyweight artists have joined forces to create a neo-classic. By having uninhibited access to Buckwild's original mid-90's production, Celph Titled was able to select and record to over 16 unreleased D.I.T.C. bangers; bringing his charismatic flow and lyrical prowess to each one.

Comment: This album is fire!! U got a talented dope emcee like celph and a legendary producer like buckwild, u can't go wrong wit that duo. People that "hate" on it probly like that mainstream radio shit. This is 4 da real hip hop headz ONLY!! "don't worry if I'm burning your album, cause if I'm burning your album, I'm in da backyard burning a album...oh yeah, smokey da bear would have to choke on a flair, am I suppose to be scared? That's like vin diesel combing his hair." Ha Ha celph titled is funny at times, but n*gga does have mad skillz!!!

Comment: Celph gets under the haters skin like a MF. He is a very powerful artist and just reading these comments is a testament to that. He's gotta love it... hate and all. As long as he stays a topic of argument/discussion, he stays relevant. I think his haters keep his longevity thriving actually. He does have a shitload of loyal cult-like fans though. I say the dude is a beast and very original.

Comment: LOL at homie coming on here to say how the album is so bad. Hahaha funniest shit I heard all year. Celph destroys the mic on every song and the production on this album could NOT be better.. I think Celph tends to rally up kids who tried or are trying to be MC's but never make any noise and they get mad that Celph effortlessly rips shit and has legions and LEGIONS of fans. Narcotik dude probably heard 'Wack Juice' and took mad offense to it...Hahahaha

Comment: Celphtitled is really ill. Unique style, voice, flow...funny character. Highly entertaining but not for the insecure people who take their hip hop too serious and only want to hear black drug dealer crime rap. Celph has a weird cult-like following so its kinda funny when I see someone hating cuz then I think of the 80 thousand fanboys who jock everything he drops. Love him or hate him, his album is a banger all the way rough. Well executed and classic buckwild production....can't get much better than this.

Comment: celph titled is fucking trash. corniest emcee of all time. sweet voice. not. how the fuck did he get hold of these classic buckwild bangers? buck needs to check himself, for giving these beats to a corn ball like celph motha fuckin titled. give az these beats, and the album is a classic. give celph titled these beats, and it's a classic to boys who are weening off ther acne cream. can't nod your head to celphs flow, he's the opposite of natural. forced, trash. id rather hear fat joe rock these beats, honestly. too bad, love the beats.

Comment: Hey Bigman, I bet you wanted this to be a bunch of classical symphony "hardcore" beats with Celph Titled yelling on top of them. LOL, Celph ain't a lame man... He's never gonna do the "typical" shit you expect. And this project is MUCH MORE than "90s crates of beats with Celph just rapping over them"... This album is a masterpiece and a concept album. They put a lot of work into this...and your opinion is in the crazzzzzy minority because this album is STILL in the top sellers list on this site and it came out 7 months ago. Suck it...

Comment: Oh shit!!! That's why it sounds so old....because the beats are apparently selected from the 90s crates of Buckwild and Celph just raps over them. No wonder it doesn't work well together. I never read the description before...my brother bought it for me for Xmas...wish he hadn't. Sorry if you read this bro.

Comment: I thought these beats were extremely wack. I hope Celph never works with Buckwild again. Beats sound like a 90's Naughty by Nature album. If you like simplistic East Coast beats (no bass) and dope rhyming this is for you. If you're looking for dope conceptual tracks I would skip it. What did this guy's beats due to Celph? My god...

Comment: Classic. Lyrics wont blow u way, but they complement the beats. Should not be looked only as an album that reminds you of the 90s, but a new era classic. A reminder of how a good album is done. Most LPs now a day sound like mixtapes.

Comment: Damn that's wild to me Derrick my dude when you say that the D follows trends...I'm not from the D so I wouldn't know but I can't even hear or see that in hip-hop music coming from Detroit as far as trends go. The D to me definitely has it's own sound, a dope one at that! PHAT KAT, SLUM VILLAGE, ELZHI, DILLA, ILLA J, BLACK MILK, GUILTY SIMPSON, NAMETAG, APOLLO BROWN, FRANK-N-DANK, LAWLESS ELEMENT and so on. I'm defintely diggin' shit out the D homeboi. Good lookin' on the info about 7 and 8 mile too man! Whether you from the south, north, east, west, midwest dope music and beats is just that and I can relate to that no matter where you from. Puttin' hip-hop on the map!!! Good lookin' my dude!

EVEN GHETTO BOYS, D.O.C, SILK TYMES LEATHER,CONVICTS HELL EVEN KRIS KROSS, EVEN THOUGH I LIKE THE DA YOUNGSTAS ILLEGAL, AN CHI ALI WAY MORE THAN THEM. BUT YOU RIGHT. THE PROBLEM IS TO ME YOU ONLY GET THAT ONE REPRENSATION OF THE SOTUTH UNLESS YOU ARE A REAL HEAD LIKE ME AN YOURSELF. THE MASSES ONLY GET THE BUBBLE GUM BULLSHIT,WHILE THE DOPE STUFF GETS UNNOTICE I FEEL THAT TO ME IS A DAM SHAME. I'M FROM EAST DETROIT 7 MILE TO BE EXACT.(IF YOU SAW 8 MILE GO ONE MILE DOWN THEN YOU A RE COMPLETLY IN THE CITY, 8 MILE DIVIDES THE CITY FROM SUBBERBS,OR THE WHITES FROM THE BLACKS)ANY WAY HERE WE TEND TO FOLLOW TRENDS AND OVERLOOK THE REAL STUFF. MOST PEOPLE HERE DON'T LISTEN TO EVERYTHING,ONLY WHAT'S TOLD TO THEM THAT'S HOT. WE ARE NOT IN NO WAY UNIFIED SO HERE WE PICK SIDES. SOME GO WITH THE WEST, SOME THE EAST, SOME THE SOUTH, AN A FEW ALL.TO ME IF I FEEL IT'S DOPE AND FROM THE HEART IT GET'S MY SUPPORT. Comment: I'm from Georgia (ATL) to be exact. The funny thing is Derrick you right about some of the music back home or in other parts of the south being wack as fuck, not all but most of that new shit I can't feel man. However, in defense to the south I can say this, if you ever listened to the song called "COUNTRY COUSINS" by Talib Kweli and UGK you'll get where I'm coming from. Bun-B said it best when he said "IN THE SOUTH WE LISTENED TO IT ALL" and he was from Texas. Back in the late 80's and before 93' (post Outkast and Dungeon Family) in the south (particulary G.A.) we listened to damn near everything from Miami Booty Bass, Scarface and them boi's in Texas, to West Coast music, and East music (Philly, Jersey, and N.Y. mostly). So you'd hear shit from everywhere on the radio U.G.K, LORDS OF THE UNDERGROUND, DA BUSH BABEES, MIC GERONIMO, LADY OF RAGE, LUKE AND 2 LIVE CREW, EPMD, TRIBE, MAIN SOURCE, ICE CUBE, and so on. It wasn't until '93 (yeah we had Raheem the Dream) but not until Outkast came that we in G.A. had a real sound. Back then southern hip-hop was dope as fuck! Outkast, Backbone, Goodie Mob, and the Witch Doctor just to name a few. I laugh about that whole ATL "snap ya fingers shit" cause I hate that shit too. Most people from upstate in N.Y be dissin' the A and bringin' it up on that whole southern movement shit but they be doin' shows down there, buyin' homes and livin' down there, and all of a sudden ATL is one of my favorite places. I can honestly that most of the shit I dig now is not even from N.Y. or G.A. I always liked shit that dope and different and right now Chicago and the D (Detroit) are dropping some dope and deep shit. But I'll tell you exactly what happened that caused a riff...the machine known as the "INDUSTRY" loves controversy so when the people in different areas of the south (MIAMI, ATL, MISSISSIPPI, TEXAS, N.C) stated doin' their thing own thing all of a sudden N.Y. hip-hop was wack (as people and magazine's like to say). I don't even see how that shit was even possible cause good music was still coming out of N.Y. but N.Y. aint the whole East Coast...you got Maryland, Philly, Jersey, and so on. The good thing is that now hip-hop in particular aint just East Coast and West. You got good music in the D, CHI-TOWN, V.A., LAS VEGAS, N.C. (Justus League) and so on just to name a few. Kids now in this generation don't know about a WEST COAST and EAST COAST beef or sound (lol, most of that shit they dig sucks now) but they like what they like so I can't fault 'em for that. Were still the one's hyping that shit up. What makes the south different from N.Y hip-hop is in the south were more unified...you could be damn near from bum fuck Egypt and still get the same love in Texas and so on. I don't see that alot in N.Y. hip-hop. But I aint no scholar or preacher...I'm just tellin' you what I've witnessed. J.U.-ICE

Comment: THANK GOD THIS ALBUM CAME OUT.ALONG WITH NAS'S HIP HOP IS DEAD, I'VE BEEN SAYING HIP HOP IS DEAD AND WE NEED A ALBUM THAT REFELECTS THE 90'S SOUND BECAUSE EVERDENTLY THE FORWARD PROGRESSION AFTER 96 DID NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING FOR THE MUSIC. KEYBOARD BEATS, BULLSHIT R&B HOOKS, WACK LYRICS,I HATE TO SAY IT,THE IGNORANT SOUTHERN MOVEMENT, AND RADIO POP SLASH STREET GUN RHETORIC HELP GET THIS MUSIC LIKE THIS.THERE ARE MORE BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WRITE ALL THAT. THE FIRST SIGN OF HOPE TO ME WAS THE ALBUM BY THE U.N.(U N OR U OUT)BACK IN 04.THEN WE GET MARCO POLO&TORAE'S DOULBLE BARREL IN 09 THEN THIS ALBUM. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW HIP HOP SHOULD SOUND I AGREE WITH EVERY WORD THAT JENERAL J.U.-ICE SAID. I FROM GENERATION X SO I GREW UP DURING THE 80'S AND 90'S.WE ARE SICK AND GOT DAMMED TIRED OF HOW THIS MUSIC SOUNDS WE COME FROM THAT ERA WHERE YOU'RE GOOD OR ESLE.MUSIC HAD MEANING, GRAFF ART LOOK LIKE PICASO PORTRAITS, B-BOYY'S PUT IT DONE LIKE THERE LIFE DEPENDENED ON IT, BEAT BOXER'S SOUND LIKE REAL LIVE DRUMMERS, AND DJ'S CUT YOU A NEW ASSHOLE NOT THIS CD, SERATO, OR LITTLE PHRASE CUTS SHIT GOING ON NOW. SO THIS ALBUM MIGHT NOT BE A FORWARD PROGRESSION, BUT IT IS FINALLY A FORWARD STEP TO HELP MOVE INTO A BETTER FUTURE INSTEAD OF JUST COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PRESENT.

Comment: wow, k2 and urwakeupcall pretty much bagged this album with no significant reason behind it...good one. k2, what is a great album to you? im curious? and urwakeupcall, how long did it take you to come up with that b.s you thought up of? you must be really indifferent if you really took your time to be descriptive about a effin frathouse cypher. you kidding me? celph has been spitting like this for years. what did you expect for real? he paints pictures with metaphors and crazy ass punchlines over dope beats. how much money do you think celph and his crew have to payoff off Buck in the first place. I personally think buck saw talent and created a great album with Celph. you make it sound like buckwild took loads of cash to do an album with the likes of lil wayne or some shit lol. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but, 1, 2, or even 3 stars for this particular album is ridiculous. yo, Jeneral, set these clowns straight because I cant do it no more!!

Comment: Lol, shit aint a fact but I guess anybody that was born after 95' is just a radio head...shouldn't be totally true though cause my 3 year son likes my old hip-hop records and instrumentals than the stuff out now. If I rock Special Ed, Main Source, ATCQ, N.W.A, Ultramagnetic, Jungle Brothers, Group Home, The Clan, Nas, Souls of Mischief, King Tee, The Concious Daughters,EPMD, Kam, or Da Bush Babees just to name a few (do ya history 87'-96', classic years) mafuckas look at me like I'm crazy in the whip but they be noddin' their heads to that shit like "damn what he rockin'"? Of course you can't relive the times, lol they don't even do Saturday morning cartoons with a bowl of cereal anymore. But music regardless of the times can be appreciated. I'ma fanatic for dope samples and beats so I don't care if something came from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and so on. Why would you blast something just because it sounds like something from the 90's? Mafuckas 4got about the skill and effort in songs and music, whether that shit is opera, country, rock and roll, soul, r&b, latin, jazz, reggae, and hip-hop and I think most (not all) but most people just rush shit out to earn a buck to sound like the next man, with no talent, effort, or skill at all. I think if anybody that's a millenium baby can't understand why most people appreciate this album it's because to me hip-hop music in the late 80's and 90's had a lot more creativity, realness, and rawness to it...I'm definitely fortunate to have lived through the 80's and 90's for real! You can tell when a song is ass and when something hits you in your soul, makes you feel a certain way, or reminds you of something, and that's when you know what good music and a good album is, period!

I miss them shit's too, the music and times and everything. But obviously it was Celph and Buck's intention to make an album like this and the shit is dope! It's called "CREATIVITY" and that's what sny genre of music should be based on. Some of us FISHER PRICE kids that grew up in the late 70's, lived thru the 80's and 90's know that shit. The rest of you lab rats (lol) need to chill for real...shit aint that serious. Y u dudes so uptight about my man's album? U either like the shit or you don't and I'm diggin' the hell out of it! Comment: Possibly the most overrated album of the decade is more like it. Celph-Titled raps like hes in a frathouse cypher with a keg of coors light in the back, or maybe in the parking lot of a sportsbar, after eating a rack of babyback pork ribs slamming pitchers of bud light. Buckwild must have got paid well to even associate his name with this clown.

Comment: Insight, what's the point of being so uptight about it? Of course the 90's are gone and nobody can "experience" it if they weren't there. But there's nothing wrong with an artist who lived the 90's to show appreciation for its time and celebrate it with music. And since not everybody got to experience the 90's, there's nothing wrong with soaking it up now. Just cause you didn't live during the Vietnam war doesn't mean that Marvin Gaye "What's Goin On" doesn't mean something to you or make you feel a certain way. Music isn't a private club that only a small group of lucky people are able to experience. Stop being such a crab about it. And as far as Celph goes, you obviously didn't pay attention to his lyrics because his punchline game is almost untouchable nowadays and his flow is always switching up. It's like some people LOVE to claim he's a one-trick pony but they don't listen to him when he's introspective, or he's telling his story, or he's doing a concept... This album has all of that. So it's not all punchlines. Bottom line is this - There aren't ANY hip hop albums coming out that exemplify this sound and this concept. I think Celph & Buck did an incredible job and to deny their talent or just write it off as being 'OK' is just stupid. It's like... What is good enough for you? What else do you want someone to do when making a hip hop album? Every detail of this project is painstaking, from the scratches to the sound quality. Lighten up...and just because something is being hyped, there's no reason to feel overly inclined to drudge up something negative about it just for spite. Make a better album of better quality than this, an album that's more successful and an album that gets talked about more. I believe you'd have a difficult time with that one. There's a reason this album is the source of so much talk, arguments and activity and it's not because it sucks or its mediocre. Let's be real here. And someone tell Lord Finesse to get back on his pen game and do a D.I.T.C. project or new solo. It's been too long!

Comment: I've been listening to hip hop since '81. So I also know exactly what I am talking about. I used to be a b-boy back then. I don't think celph titled is wack, it just his flow after a while gets on my nerves. Some might like his flow but it does nothing for me. I am not really that impressed. And as far as a punchline MC, chino xl is much tighter anyway. Also, if you didn't listen to hip hop in the 90's you really don't have that much to say. Its not just the music, its also the events, the culture, and experiences that occurred during that time that relate to the music. Its like listening to Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" now but never lived during the Vietnam war. The music is tight but the song had more meaning for those living during that time. Most of y'all might appreciate 90's hip hop, but unless you actually experienced it during that time, you really don't have shit to say.

Comment: Do not listen to this dude below, he has no clue what he's talking about. The album has plenty of topic songs and non-punchline antics to satisfy a nitpicking listener. He's just trying to throw salt on the project cause it's getting so much praise. Celph did a fine job and keeps his flow switching up, some songs are hype and angry, some are laidback and others are more straightforward conversation. He is the punchline master, so of course he dishes out what his core fans want from him. His writing is superb and very well rounded. This album was a great concept and the 90's theme worked well with Buckwild providing a perfect backdrop along with Mista Sinista's cuts. This was a welcomed treat in my eyes. Great project for what it is. No need to get caught up in the overhype, but also no need to get caught up in kids throwing salt on it either. Guaranteed that you'll enjoy it if you're a fan of real hip hop in any capacity.

Comment: I just recently bought the album purely on hype. To me the album is not that tight. The beats overall are tight but Celph Titled's flow is somewhat annoying. Its too many punchlines. I know this is his style but even so. The only reason why this album is so successful is because hip hop stop progressing a long time ago. To me, the album doesn't some like he is paying homage to the 90's. It sound exactly what is: An MC rhyming over 90's beats. If I wanted to listen to an mid - 90's type album, I would just listen to a mid -90's album. You can't recreate 90's, you can only re-live it.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a rapper more clever/witty, with better punchlines than Celph Titled. THIS DUDE HAS MASTERED THE ART OF MIXING VIOLENCE WITH HUMOR, the shit is fuckin beautiful. Comment: @ Skelly... obviously you don't get it, this is exactly what the album is doing paying homage to the golden age of hip hop ie the '90s. If you think hip hop is now progressive you are sadly mistaken homie. I'll take 90's hip hop all day over most of this shyt out now. I don't hate on current cats like Drake, Wayne, J Cole cause they make good music but even they not capturing that 90's gritty not overproduced feel.

Celph has some of the illest lines, quotes, wordplay, compounds and sense of humor that I've ever heard. Plus he even showed his depth and did some real topics on here. You must listen to some emo soft shit if you think these kind of lyrics are not very great. Celph is the best at doing this style of hip hop, period. I can't name a rapper more clever. And the beats....well they are out of this world on this album. Best CD I bought in the last 4 years. If you're not impressed by this album chances are you listen to faggot shit. End of story.

Comment: Hey "Miley Cyrus", this album is deffinitely a must hear.. One of the few albums I have boughten in 2010, 100% worth it. If you have listened to AOTP, Demigodz ect. and have found yourself diggin the Celph versus you should like this.. Although this is a much more laid back style of rapping instead of his normal "rip you to shreds" style.. go and take a listen to the song Step Correctly on Youtube.. if you like it, buy the album, its more of that, on top of it.. Album sounds so much better than any torrents out there or direct files.

Ignore any negative comments, for some reason Celph seems to bring out a lot of haters. Maybe cause his true fans are so militant about him, the haters get tired of seeing him propped. He deserves every last prop he gets though, the man is a genius...too many heads sleeping. Can't wait to get this on vinyl as well.

With all due respect,, not hating but this mc does not deserve these beats, samples. What a waste of beats. I'll be checking for the instrumental album. Anything that will keep me from listening to Celph Titled.

I give props to anyone who speaks his mind and does not follow the norm and Lars is that dude! Keep doing your thing homie! BTW...this album overrated! It is a 1994 wannabe album. This album does not push the envelope, it merely is a carbon copy of and old used up format from the 90's. We need the music to be progressive not regressive!

Yo this album is exactly the blueprint (ok maybe that's a bit much) but it's an example most MC's, DJ's/ Producers need to follow now man. This is that old boom bap, raw, gritty, soulful hip-hop shit for real. What's more is that it's 2010 and Celph Titled and Buckwild hit mafuckas with some current and updated topics, rhymes, etc. over old school beats...how dope is that my n*ggas? I wish mafuckas would make dope beats and rhymes like this now man! Good lookin' to 1990NOW!!!!

The shape of life most primitive has more merit to exist a lot of "pseudo-consciousness" packaged sauce "politically correct." Comment: this is seriously some comical shit going on right now thats what this is. I am done politicking with you on this matter. illmatic is classic, thats it, period!! nothing to do with sony, sheep or the damn media. it has to do with the quality of the music that was put out on that particular album that puts it in its class. Nas did his thing and so did the producers on it. What did you expect the beats were going to sound like then in 94 dude? they had that old gritty/raw sound to it and Nas flow was flawless. Lil wayne wasnt rhyming, nas was. But either way dude, I am done talking about this cuz it goes no where. bigups takini, like what you wanna like. 90% of us think its classic not because of the media but because we recognize a great album. get off the cappachino its affecting your brain. peace

Pants to the knees, Bad grammer, 4 kids by different moms, terrible beats, Stolen Steeze (jim Jones ), no originality, Illuminati cat... Drake sucks and his music is for 15 yr old girls.... This album is no worse than 4.5 mics and The Diamond Distict album last yr was a classic all day long....

Comment: Takini is a clown. For real son, u should just sit back on this one and stop making yourself sound like a smart dumb n*gga. Illmatic was classic before Nas even played anything for any of these magazines/media bullshit you're mentioning period. All that payola industry bullshit aint applicable to a product with that much quality, that shit would of took off with no co sign from nobody. That shit is hot, Like PUN said First it was Nasty Nas, and then he turned the apple into Macintosh.

How the eff can anyone deny that? I would agree with you if columbia records paid the source magazine that say lil waynes album was 5 mics and really isnt because lil wayne isnt on the level as the illmatic album. I will go as far to say that I believe more than half of the booty ass rappers in the source magazine especially now dont deserve what mics are giving because the source will give them high ratings if the money is right. its called advertisment. different with illmatic though because that album is actually music to use your term. but im done wasting my time talking to you because it gets no where and you wanna keep running your mouth like your thong is too far up your ass or something. im not going to even say your wrong because its based off of opinion and your entitled to that but damn man, I think I speak for everyone else when I say that your cornier than my shit after thanksgiving dinner. not even mad, just feel bad takini. peace homie

Comment: I think you have been eating too many french fries homie because I only do this ish from one machine. If the IP address changes here and there than ok I cant change that. Why would I lie, the only way the "score" would change is if people rate this lower because it cant go higher because people like you rate a great quality cd as 1 star when others who know shit rate it 4 or 5 but I dont even care what you think. Do you even know what you are talking about? "source"? dude, 90% of the people that "know" hiphop now or then knows that illmatic was a classic and the lyrics were a head of its time. the top producers in the game past and present produced that album and those were the sounds of that era. why are you so naive and difficult? rza beats back then and I stress back then were dope but now he fell off like humpty dumpty. your basically comparing the rza to large professor, dj premier, les and pete rock. are you effin kidding me? now, no back then yes. btw, when the source magazine made that album 5 mics, that magazine was relevant, now its not. I personally like the elemental magazine but whatever takini, your probably the only person on the planet that doesnt like illmatic. This album is 5 stars period!! Lars, here we go again lol,i like our convos homie. Your comparing his sales to Celph instead of talent like I was saying. lil wayne can not hold Celph titleds nuts period when it comes to the mic. of course his sales are better but who gives a rats ass? lil wayne is promoted differently towards the masses of a.)little kids or "new jacks" who dont know better or b.) simple minded idiots who listen to the continous bs on the radio. and if you say "black album" is a classic then so is "stillmatic" and I think "ironman" was better than "supreme clientele". Either way I am not here to fight, I just voice my opinion and enjoy the hiphop debates on here. If your here just to start ish (takini)or angry because you need a hug, then go battle people on W.O.W and end it. bigups lars and the Jeneral. J-aura where you at

Comment: what up Jeneral!! yeah I understand what your spitting especially back in that era of hiphop when music even on the radio was relevant, now its a shit show. obviously, the underground scene is filled with cats with something to prove so they will do what it takes for their album and lyrics to bang for the most part. But we are talking about the word "classic". I am saying that this album is classic or going to be classic in years to come because of the content of this album and what Celph/Buck brought to the table. Maybe its a classic in our eyes (i.e indie people)because this is what we have been waiting for with the raw sounds, lyrics, metaphors, dope guest spots and one producer being consistent on the album. if your talking about "classic" back in the past music then yeah: illmatic, hard to earn, liquid swords, or even doe or die are classic material cerified albums to me. I wasnt even trying to spark something with this takini dude but when he says that illmatic is not a classic and return of the 36 chambers is, then I am going to question it thats all perid. but like I said before, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but damn, illmatic not a classic?? someone please bring some sense to this convo

I am all over this website casting reviews for different albums for a while now. my ip address is the same and been reviewing from the same pc the whole time giving the same review lol. no matter how many times I give 5 stars for this album from now on it will never equal to a 5 star rating because your dumb ass gave it a 1 star rating. I am not boosting any rating unless I think it deserves it clown. btw, ODB (rip):return was not a classic in my eyes because "liquid swords" or even "Only Built for Cuban links" was better, not to mention Celph is a better lyricist than ODB and if you put that about illmatic then someone needs to do homework or see a phyciatrist, but you know everything so big ups Takini. Oh and another thing, I was not bagging on you about your opinions I was questioning it and tried to give you the benefit of the doubt to explain yourself. this didnt have to be blown up into something derrogatory homie. peace

Comment: Yeah D-Stroi, Pete Rock and Premier were here in Japan a couple of months ago when Manhattan Records was promoting they shit in Shibuya / Harajuku right after my man Guru had passed away. As far as the moniker "CLASSIC" goes let's be honest...most CLASSICS" were from 90-95, maybe 96' with Outkast's ATLiens. And I aint heard nothin' in the new millenium worth mentioning as "CLASSIC". Yeah you got Slum Village's Fantastic Vol. 2. But when you talkin' about mainstream hip-hop and underground hip-hop that's where shit really gets interesting, cause what defines a "CLASSIC"? The underground aint gon' get as much airplay for a video as a mainstream artist, but a mainstream dude's album will be granted as a "CLASSIC" and the mafucka doin' his thang in the underGRIND's music might be more dope, raw, and even more creative. I dig the conversation's on this website whether dumb or dope cause it's interesting to know what music makes people feel! Peace to hip-hop culture, the music, and the people who live, breathe, and eat this shit man!

Takini, I asked you what a classic album to you is and you cant even answer the question. if illmatic is not a classic, then what is? and lars my man, please do not join the names of lil wayne and celph titled together. Celph is in a whole different category. I bet you not one lil wayne album even compares to the fire that Celph brought on this nineteen ninety now joint. Please tell me how lil wayne and Celph are deserving in the same sentence lars? btw, track 14 is bananas. Jerz, I dont think hes that average especially from all of the prior demigodz releases he did, though his metaphors are funny and well put together, a lot of them do make you think for a minute and then your like, damn!! lol. Comment: far all this talk, none of you boners have even mentioned Mista Sinista's cuts on this record, which GLUES the whole thing together. This album knocks front to back, although I never felt that Buck was able to stylistically deviate from his mentor, Lord Finesse. With that said, this album has nostalgia written all over it. I've always enjoyed Celph's style, but this is the first time I can say that I can listen to an entire album of his...investing in Buck's beats and Joey Sinista's cuts was a smart art and bizness move.

Comment: I have to disagree Takini....although many albums are called "classics" throughout the year and really they are just "ok" in the grand scheme...this album deserves all of the props it is getting...It would have stood up next to any of the classics released in the past 15 years. Is this album as good as an "Illmatic"? NO it is not...but how many albums can compare to Illmatic?? Just because an album is not as good as some past releases, it does hold a special place in music history and this album has earned it's right to stand next to Lil Wayne and Kanye West..........

Comment: Takini...what? ok, I will play devils advocate, what album is deserving of 5 mics to date, not illmatic?? because for this album, every beat knocks, lyrics are on point. delivery, flow, and metaphors are well laced. albums with one producer in my opinion are usually better and more personal and the guest spots are all on point. What does it take to win you over for a "dope" album? Celph Titled: "my mindstate, is like a bitch on the rag, I dont like you PERIOD!!" that ish is dope man lol

Comment: Seems like the problem with music now (especially mainstream hip-hop) is that the shit is rushed. Back in "THE GOLDEN ERA" 88-94 (even with mainstream artist back then) an artist use to take a year or 2 (sometimes 3) b4 they even dropped some shit cause maybe they felt like the music they put out had to be just that dope, and it usually was cause they took their time for the love of the music instead of trying to chase a fuckin' dollar. Nowadays mafuckas don't care and it seems like ya favorite artist or these new dudes will disaapoint you now with that faggot shit they drop. An album drops in January and the next 1 is ass in September cause they rushed the album trying to follow the times instead of doing the shit that made 'em hot in the first place, or they aint hungry no more or they fall into the industry's trap...no thought or skill behind their craft. Just these new mafuckas running their mouth making words rhyme and half of the time they don't even know what the fuck they sayin'. I could tell that Celph and Buckwild didn't fall into this trap and did what the fuck they wanted to do with this album and the result is a very highly anticipated, promising, and rewarding result to the listeners and fans. This shit is a really dope album in it's own right!!! Peace to Celph and Buck for making this jewel!

Comment: Hey Takini - You're one of those French-Euro faggots that wants every beat to be some kind of "epic" hardcore classical symphony sample with Fruity Loops drum kits like every amateur MySpace and Soundlick producer out there. You're a complete faggot and your kind should be killed by lethal injection. The beats on this album are legendary status and I'm glad Celph went this route rather than do an AOTP-knockoff album with those played-out beats that you love so much. It looks like you're outnumbered anyway in opinion, so it doesn't matter. But I had to let you know you were a faggot that wants to hear cheap fake faggot wanna-be Stoupe beats instead of classic production. Please choke on your next crepe and die with a blueberry lodged in your throat cause you're sweet.

Comment: YO...OH MY GOD...I can't even believe this album. I COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH QUEST. This shit is a CERTIFIED BANGER. To anyone who has forgotten how ILL hip hop production was back in the 90's, here is your goddamn reminder. WOW. You would think these beats would be average, since they were unreleased and never used by DITC or anyone. NOT THE CASE. Just about every beat is INSANE. And Celph Titled, I mean come on, we all know the beast that he is. Hip hop heads MUST COP this album. I mean real talk, I'll be bumpin this album probably for the next 3 months straight. Yo, holy shit, the track "Swashbuckling" with Apathy and Ryu, reminds me of Gangstarr's "Speak Ya Clout" because with each verse the beat changes. THE LAST BEAT THAT GOES ALONG WITH CELPH'S VERSE (after Esoteric's verse) IS FUCKIN THE DEFINITION OF GRIMY. Speakin of grimy, the track "Tingin", are you serious?? DISGUSTING. WOW. I just don't have enough words to say about this album. A fuckin classic. NINETEEN NINETY NOW, a perfect title for this shit. IT'S ABOUT GODDAMN TIME CELPH GETS HIS PROPS. WORD THE FUCK UP, BRING BACK THIS 90'S SOUND!!! I seriously feel like I have woken up, because I haven't felt a hip hop album this much since the late 90's.

Classic hip-hop is timeless... and what we have here is classic beat production for Celph Titled and the bunch to murder. It's a perfect formula... you can't lose when you have the MAIN INGREDIENTS!

Comment: I am a huuuuge Celph Titled fan and this is an honest review. This isn't the certified classic I was hoping for but its still a great album. After years of listening to Celph Titleds crazy punchlines and delivery I was expecting something was more insane on the lyrical side. This is Celph Titled toned back for concept tracks, he even mentions it himself on the album. There are a hundful of his older tracks like Primos 4 course meal and Mad As Fuck that could of come together to make a classic album. He touches on some fan subjects like his beef with Cage and more which is nice. For his first major solo effort this is amazing and I respect Celph for not going awol on it even thought I would of liked him too. I love it and its a must get this year, I just don't feel its a classic. 4 out of 5.

The fact that these beats were made nearly 15 years ago really shows Bucks genius! As for Celph he does what he always does, and obliterates each and every track! Dope beats, Dope rhymes, they make this hip hop shit look easy!!

Comment: By the way, this is one of the best albums I have ever heard. Classic LP. Thank God, I've been waiting for an album like this. He disses Cage again on the track "I Could Write A Rhyme". Celph proved to be the better emcee obviously.

Comment: Now this is what a classic 5 mic album is supposed to sound like... Every beat is dope and the L's are off the chain..... I been a Celph fan since day one and he is the perfect cat to house these tracks......Every guest appearance goes hard and nothing on here was a filler....Maybe Buckwild will finally get his just dues from all of these newjacks cats that weren't able to here him back in the day.... On the Bonus CD 4 course meal features 2 of my fav Buckwild tracks peace to the Bushwackas and the Artifacts for the originals... Damn !!!

Comment: WOW, Celph Titled REALLY impressed me w/ this one. I hadn't followed much of his stuff before, but damn this album has made me a mega-fan. Voice, flow, punchlines, crazy adlibs, personality, multi-syllables, hooks, topics, stories, originality, concept rhymes, double entendres...fuck I can't stop listing the dude's high points. Celph is an incredible MC in 2010......THE PRODUCTION...Well...I have no words to describe how ILL the beats are. Buckwild of DITC is a legend. Don't delay any further and cop this now.

Comment: This is the album of the year, folks - flawless! Every beat is a complete banger and Celph comes with the non-stop punchlines. Add guest appearances from A.G., Apathy, Chino XL, Diamond, Dutchmassive, Esoteric, Grand Puba, Majik Most, O.C., R.A. The Rugged Man, Sadat X, Vinnie Paz, and more and well - how can you not purchase this album?!? I haven't liked an album this much since Blaq Poet dropped 'Tha Blaqprint' - congrats to Celph and Buckwild for making an album that is certainly my pick for album of the year for 2010!

Lets talk about the great QB's from that school to play in the NFL: Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Kellen Clemens. Note to the NFL: Never get a QB from OU unless you want egg on your face. There aren't many Jonathan Stewart's coming out of there either. Aaron Brooks is a good baller but for every one of those...there are about 100 dozen Luke Ridnour's.

I would just love to see what the fuck you look like, because the way you come off is like some 14 year old shithead that just comes on here to start shit, that dosen't even really like or appreciate rap... Especially with those smile face things and the abbreviations, thats little kid shit... I don't think you and over 16...

Comment: Jesse...I have a passport and travel (something you may know nothing about...and day trips to Vancouver don't count...). I know you are surprised that anyone would actually come to Portland but I have been there. I now see why those in Portland have an inferiority complex to Seattle. You are probably a Ducks fan...I like Beavers...ask your mom... ;o)

Comment: Who is Lars and why are you all arguing inside a comment box for Celph's album? SMH... Anyway this album looks to be incredible. I've heard Celph Titled progess so much over the years, he has really become a sharply refined MC and has a little bit of a "OG" status in the scene. From the leaks I've heard, these beats don't seem to be old throwaways AT ALL... This just might be the best album made in years (fingers crossed). If it's classic, I wouldn't be surprised if this catapulted Celph into a much more famous level of notoriety... this just might be the one to do it. I'm definitely copping this and I haven't bought a CD all year. That says alot.

Comment: I have been to Portland before Jesse and I have been to Acropolis. It is a dusty dive bar with food and broads like ur mom. It is off a main highway like roadway near the airport which you can literally stand under the airplanes as they come in and out of the airport. I know my shyt don't test me...I have been all over that fucking city. Downtown looks like it has not been updated in years with stores as old as shyt. I have been to the top of Mt.Hood where they shot that movie the "Shining" in the lodge. I have also been to the Columbia River Gorge where you are walking through waist deep waters. I have scooped up broads at the Beer Fest in the Pearl District. I have also had some good ass doughnuts in that city. Sheeeeet...LARS knows his shyt and ur mom. Don't fuck wit me. I got people's out there who graduated from Beverton high and went on to play football at OSU. Get off my sack Jesse. I own your town all the way from SWEDEN!!! I am also good friends with Terrell Brandon.
