Product Details

Cormega is back with his Fifth studio album and follows 2009's Born And Raised. "Mega Philosophy" is entirely produced by Large Professor. This album is positively inspiring, conscious and incredibly deep. Large Professor's tracks hit hard with his authentic "Boom Bap" sound creating an audio landscape for Cormega's lyrical wisdom. The album features Black Rob, Nature, AZ, Redman, Styles P, Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan and more.

The release of Mega Philosophy will be preceded by a series of singles including the recently released Limited edition "Honorable" 7" ft. Raekwon (THIN069). "Industry," the first official single was made available digitally May 20th. In the years in-between releasing this new album Mega's viewpoint has been further honed by being involved in efforts for political and social change. Some of these events include being active in the protest of Trayvon Martin's murder, going to Haiti to help with the earthquake relief efforts and a life-changing trip to Africa for Uganda Empowers. As Mega states with this new album, "Hip-Hop used to be journalistic; people spoke on what they saw and what they felt. So much has happened in the last few years, but a lot of artists aren't talking about anything. I'm fighting for our culture." This summer you can also expect music videos and touring.

Comment: I love seeing how Mega has grown and matured through the years. A lot of these other reviews captured it perfect by stating it's "grown-up" hip hop and how a lot of it is inspiring due to the positive content. Cormega has never been a "lyrical acrobat" per se but he's always carried depth and meaning in his lyrics as well as always staying true to himself. Glad he has strayed away from talking about how tuff he is or how he's slanging on the block [looking at you Mobb Deep]. Solid and consistent; shout out to Mega for real.

Comment: This has got to be my favorite Cormega album ever. It's grown-up rap with positive messages and reflections. Anywhere Large Professor goes I go, and he did a fantastic job here.

Comment: This is my opinion only, so anybody else who thinks differently please don't feel offended but great albums like this are rare to come by, but to me it's album of the year. I can put it on for my nephew and he can actually gain some positive wisdom from listening to it. Who cares about swag or snap music. Muchas gracias Mega, for giving us such a great album.

Comment: Back in the late 90's, I would argue with my buddies about Cormega being better then NAS. Like dude underneath said he just keeps growing as an artist. Nowadays, he is more positive and trying to give back.

Comment: F*ckin sick album, nothing less as aspected. Cormega proves once more he's still one of the best, from flow to lyrics. Combined with the kind of resurrected Large Pro, the result is a more than solid and revolutionary minded, "f*ck what hip hop has become" album that the hip hop culture needs so much more of. A f*cking sick album everybody who knows and loves hip hop need to buy and support.

Comment: Dope album start to finish, but 32 minutes short ain't cool. Tracks with Rae and Black Rob are ridiculous bangers but barely break 2 minutes, you gotta be kidding me.

Comment: A couple of nice Large Pro beats here but as a whole it doesn't seem like Extra P gave Cormega his best selections.

Comment: Cormega is an artist who is ageing like fine wine as each release has been better than the previous. As for the legendary Large Pro behind the boards... need I say more?
