Summary

Fresh off a successful Kickstarter campaign, veteran Boston-based hip-hop artist Edo. G returns with his 11th studio album, After All These Years. The new album features Chuck D, Camp Lo, Guilty Simpson, Specialteamz, jazz great Walter Beasley and more, with production by Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, Marco Polo, Vanderslice, and Explizit One.

After All These Years is a testament to Edo's longevity and consistency in the rap game. The album represents the classic boom-bap that he has built on since his 1991 debut, Life of a Kid in the Ghetto. One of the album's choicest cuts is "2 Turntables And A Mic," produced by Pete Rock: clearly reminiscent of the raw '90s sound first pioneered by both men more than two decades ago. "Fight," featuring Chuck D, is a hard-edged track produced by Vanderslice, with wisdom-soaked lyrics listeners would expect from two veterans. "Da Beef Goes On," featuring the Boston power trio Specialteamz (Jaysaun, Slaine and Edo), touches an emotional chord on domestic violence and the affect it has on families and children.

Edo.G explains, "After All These Years is a combination of what I've learned over the last 23 years in hip-hop, and in life. For me, it has been – and will hopefully continue to be – a springboard to greater things. This record marks what I would call my 'third career' in hip-hop. The first was ED O.G & Da Bulldogs; the second was as a solo artist in the late '90s; and now with my partner Jamieson Grillo and the launch of our new label, 5th & Union."

The album, which hits September 9, will be available on three formats: Limited "Orange Crush" colored 2-LP, with a gold-foiled, numbered jacket (Limited to 500); Digipak CD; and a limited orange-colored cassette.

Comment: This one is banging! Some seriously dope tracks on here. The production is very on point, with a good variety. Standouts are obviously the joints from Pete Rock, Marco, and 9th. The track "16s" with Guilty Simpson is one of my favorites too. Ignore complaints about slow flows - did you ever listen to EDO for his fast delivery? No, because his mic presence, voice, and lyrics are on point. Almost 30 years in the game, 11 studio albums. Respect to a legend.

Comment: I will give this a 3.5 stars, I want to buy this but EOD.G is just too much of a slow flower and sometimes tries a bit too hard, I like dudes, like Planet Asia, Hus Kingpin, Paz, Murdoc, Illa Ghee, Apathy, O.C., Elucid, etc. If you cop this it will be a good purchase but I will have to miss out on this as it's just not my taste… but it's a good buy.

Comment: Welcome back EDO. It's kind of nice to see such a consistent veteran continue to contribute positively to our hip hop culture. I am also looking forward to this from the snippets as this promises to be better than his last release (The only EDO.G album I wasn't really feeling with several dodgy beats and tracks, but this sounds dope so far!

Comment: Lovin EDO, he has stood the test of time. I can't wait for this album. My favorite album he has done was with Pete Rock – 'My Own Worst Enemy'. The snippets are sounding sick. A couple of songs didn't list the producers. I'm hoping Confidence produced some of them - that would be sick. This is my most anticipated album besides Saigon.
