Summary

Slug (Atmosphere/Rhymesayers) and Murs (Living Legends) are back with Volume 3 of their popular Felt series. This time dedicating their signature light hearted back and forth to Rosie Perez. With production being handled by Aesop Rock (Def Jux), Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez takes on a darker, edgier feel than the two previous releases; Felt 1: A Tribute to Christina Ricci ('02) produced by The Grouch and Felt 2: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet ('05) produced by Ant. Completing the coastal trifecta with three of the most successful independent Hip Hop artists from the West Coast, Mid West and the East...Felt 3 is sure to please the followings of these three monsters of indie Hip Hop. MOOKIE!

Comment: I love all 3 of these boys as emcees. But I just couldn't dig Aesop's beats. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a tight producer (note Apple Seed & Float, were ill); but the beats didn't seem to go to well with Slug's & MURS' style they had maintained in the past two Felts.

Comment: When this first came out I wasn't digging it, but months later I said let me take a listen (the cover keeps my attn), and wow! this album is pure genius, Aesop steps up as one of 5 producers I'd let produce an entire to rap on, I really dig the intertwine of that Def Jux b boy sound and the story line raps, this is 'classic'

Comment: As soon as I heard Aesop was going to be producing this album, I knew it wasn't going to quite fit together as well as 1 & 2. & boy...I was right. Not worth adding to my collection personally. I give them kudos for doin' somethin' diff tho I guess.

Comment: I've gat mad respect fo Slug and Ace rock bt - I only feel acerock on scripts, the beats on this album are plain sad and dissapointing. I'd rather have aesop/slug/murs on this album over a blockhead or Ant production

Comment: very very dissapointing, light years away from the other felt albums, and they can thank the extremely monotone and weak beats, get Ant back in the studio, because Slug and Murs are platinum when supplied with proper beats.

Comment: First off im a fan of all 3 of these dudes but I was skeptical when I heard they were doing felt 3.it is what I thought it would be. If this was Felt 1 I would say okay solid album. But Felt has already laid down a certain sound and style. This isn't Felt. This is an aesope rock album featuring slug and murs. The beats are slower and harder but drown out alot of the lyrics. I'm not complaining about aesops production cuz thats his style but its not something I would say flow with Felt.

Comment: I'M REALLY DISSAPPOINTED. I LOVE MURS AND SLUG, BUT AESOP'S BEATS ARE JUST STRAIGHT UP WEIRD. I KNOW I'M GOING TO GET THOSE "HEY MAN, HE'S PUSHING HIP HOP TO ANOTHER LEVEL" PEOPLE ... BUT NO ... BELIEVE IT OR NOT KIDDIES, THERE ARE RULES TO THIS HIP HOP SHIT .... YOU CAN BE CREATIVE AND "PUSH THE LIMITS" AND ALL THAT BULLSHIT, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, IF THE BEAT DOESN'T KNOCK, AND THE RHYMES ARE CORNY, THEN YOU REALLY HAVEN'T "PUSHED HIP HOP TO ANOTHER LEVEL" YOU JUST TOOK SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE WITH, AND TURNED IT INTO A POOR EXCUSE FOR SAYING "HEY, WE'RE JUST DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT"

Comment: the reason is on point with that emo ish. now a days people are throwing that word around like a rag doll. music is music, you either like it or you dont. I said it once and ill keep saying it, slug is one of the best if not the best story tellers of this era period. he always has a story to tell or substance in his music that I respect and appreciate.

Comment: this emo title is bs! what do you guys consider emo? sad songs, songs about girls, songs about hard times, song about being fucked up on drugs, what? If any of this is emo than this mean jay-z, cormega, nas, method man, ghostface, etc... I bet 99% of your favorite artist has a sad, depressing, whatever you label emo has a track of the same kind. so therefore your favorite artist is just as emo as slug, murs, aesop rock, etc...... seriously you kids are dumb when it comes using the word emo and who it applies to.

Comment: i don't blame the likes of aes and cage for trying their best not to look like some of you guys. you're 'keeping it real' insecurities are as cliched as skinny jeans themselves. And get 9th Wonder to do the beats?! the guy is boring as fuck. Aes > 9th x 10. And my ears are as open as it gets, seriously you guys get boring, which is probly a reflection to the music you're open to.
