Group Home is widely considered one of the most important groups to come out of hip-hop's revered "golden age." Recognized as originators in the culture, Group Home (cumulative career scans over 150,000 units), have proven over their 20 + year career that they are a force to be reckoned with. After his 2008 solo album "I.A.DAP," Lil Dap returns with Melachi The Nutcracker to pay tribute to his longtime friend and collaborator, the legendary, and recently deceased Guru (Gang Starr). And with one of the most distinct and unique voices in all of Hip-Hop, Dap and Group Home are poised to pass on their knowledge, experience and passion, from the 80's and 90's into the second decade of the millenium.

Comment: Nicely evokes the 90's heyday in which Group Home came up, but doesn't add anything new to their catalogue. Worth a listen for staunch 90philes but not a must-have. Stand-out track is the eponymous tune G.U.R.U., a heartfelt tribute to their mentor.

Comment: I give this 1 star because of Legacy and thats not even a new track. Any big fan of GH songs like Up against the wall, Superstar, Living Proof and Suspended in Time, please dont listen to this. Youll just be let down.

Comment: ok I have a love hate relationship with this group. I love the passion and the whole gangstarr foundation movement but lil daps rhymes are in fact simple at best and melachi just yells and his verses are what?, 4 bars at most. just like the livin proof album, the beats are what save this album from being booty. only my opinion, but am I wrong? R.I.P guru, and big ups to this album for giving back to gurus son

Comment: This is Group Home best album since Tear for the Ghetto (1999). Also marks the Nutcracker jail release. Ofcourse Premier is absent from this, long ago he said Group Home didn't have respect for what fed them. Anyway "the Legacy" wich was produced by Premo and released in 99 is included. "Be like that" is also from the same album. But even without Premier Group Home delivers real hip-hop, no gimmicks no pop sh*t. RIP GURU. F U C K S O L A R ! ! !

Comment: Dope album. Production was on point and Dap and Nutcracker did a great job so did the guest. The Legacy is old isn't that track on the 2nd group home album? Overall dope album and for a great cause. Portion of the album sales will go to Guru's son. Guru R.I.P. The Gangstarr Foundation FOREVER

Comment: Yo, Premier doesn't have to be on this album, yo. It's a Group Home album. Yeah I know Premier produced their classic debut, but still. IM sure Premo will soon have something put out dedicated to GURU. IF he is allowed to, like yall were sayin about Solar. What a clown..
