    Summary

The brilliant new release from the Iconic MC who amazingly continues to raise the bar to phenomenal new heights that have never been seen before in Hip Hop. Accompanied by the cutting edge, futuristic, multi-tiered and streetwise musical landscapes of NYC's brightest producer Solar, Guru breathes new life into true lyricism and together Guru and Solar bring forth relevant conceptual songwriting that will have all the Real Heads immediately addicted to this album. Guru 8.0 Lost and Found is a major compliment to Guru's legendary musical legacy and shows that his love for the artform and culture called Hip Hop is thriving greatly. This is a pure Hip Hop record that defines a crucial new direction and paves the way for a creatively intelligent change from the "same old thing". This is the 4th release from Guru and Solar on their 7 Grand label and without a doubt listeners will be totally enthralled and thoroughly impressed by the intense musical chemistry of this dynamic duo. Guru 8.0 Lost and Found, unlike the last two Jazzmatazz releases from 7 Grand, focuses away from outside features and instead allows for Guru and his immediate family to really shine on the mic. Solar comes through to drop gems on a few joints showing that not only is he a top producer, but that he can also "spit fire" with the best. Joining in as well is the mixtape legend Dj Doo and Philly's own K. Born and Highpower. There is also a key guest vocal performance from UK soul man Omar, who skillfully flows over a superb Solar track complimenting Guru's urgent rhyme delivery. All in all Guru 8.0 Lost and Found is a must for any self-proclaimed Hip Hop connoisseur. If Real Hip Hop has been lost, you will now find it alive and well here in this new classic from 7 Grand Records.

Comment: I would give this album 0 if I could.....GURU....why... words cannot express the shock I feel after listening to this..moment of truth...you went the other way...sigh.....R.I.P. "Guru has been releasing albums without premo since 1993 I think this is the 7th one." Shows what you know about nothing, Moment of Truth released in 1998, I remember because it was 4 days after my B-day...and I went out and bought it...that was real..

Comment: I wish I could give it no stars. What a freakin legacy to have wasted foolin around wit this talentless producer. Guru once could do no wrong from Gang Starr Foundation to Jazzmatazz series, I was hooked. This is just sad to listen to. And the people giving this project 5 stars are obviously Solar under different names. lol. It's unanimously bad. Foreal, dude needs to step his game up and stop leaching off of people who've paved their way for decades. Pathetic. And Omar being autotuned just makes me wanna sock someone. I bet Solar is behind that too. I almost guarantee it. I never comment on these sites but this release warranted it. I hope Guru pulls through this sickness long enough to leave the life he started with this bozo behind once and for all. Kick rocks.

Comment: Terrible, terrible, terrible. Solar is destroying this men's career. I suspect his life too. When Jazzmatazz come to Brazil last year, I see Solar yelling at Guru like he was a little boy. Treating him like he owned him. I couldn't believe my eyes. I wonder "where's the respect?". I think Solar is an abusive jackass whose terrible terrible TERRIBLE beats and sub-standard production is ruining this former icon. Guru is a shadow of himself now. It makes me so sad. I spent a lot of time talking with DooWop, Brownman and the keybaord player (can't rmember name). Beautiful men. Solar made me sick to look at. Like evil in his eyes. I hope Guru wakes up and escapes him VERY soon.

Comment: Guru you fell off big time man since you left Primo. Each release since the Gang Starr hiatus has become increasingly painful to the ears. It grieves real cats to know that Primo has denied an official Gang Starr split in various interviews and has reached out to you but you're now frontin with the wack DJ Solar as back up while Primo is still piling out consistently dope material. A sad day for hiphop in deed!!!1

Comment: Sorry, I really appreciate what Guru did for Rap but this record simply doesn't measure up to anything he did in the past. Guru should have listend to Big Shug more closely: It's a shame...you are so out of touch...he gave you hits, but in return you gave him bullshit for the new sound...little fella...you need DJ Premier-not Rap's YOKO ONO! Sorry Guru get off it-it's simply not bearable-stop embarassing yourself- simply a shadow of your former self! Can't hardly believe that you once represented one half of the glory Gang Starr Team! Have you really forgotton what it felt like?

Comment: Guru is wack now. He left Premo and got with his butt buddy..Solar who is TERRIBLE on the production tip. How the fluck do you leave a guy who provided arguably the best produced albums by a hip hop group??? I have seen Guru all over from Valley Stream, NY to London England, and he is a 5'8" BIRD nukka! Dude takes himself way too seriously and has comitted career suicide . Guru, I would even do a rapidshare download of the garbage ish...It's not even worth the 80 mb on my hard drive!

Comment: ok first of all some of you all didn't follow instructions.you're supposed to write more than one word"wack"or one attempted sentence:"why Guru oh why?" ...YOU DRAMA QUEENS...Guru can use the auto tune.period.of course he'll use it differently and uniquely from other artists. that's a given 'cause he's the Guru... you fairweather fans....and you are supposed to say WHY you feel the way that you do.which some people are scared to do because they would have to start talking about what is good about the record and they don't want to get too deep into that right now cause they are living in 1989.it's much safer to live in the past.but no true artist would do that...let's call it like it is,some people's ears on this site are hopelessly brainwashed.they are unable to listen with an open mind to beautiful music, prove me wrong if you can...

Comment: Being the big Premo fan that i've always been, gotta admit I was skeptical about even giving this a sample listen but i'm glad I did because even though that Gangstarr sound is missing guess what? It doesnt even matter. Refreshing is the first word that comes to mind. I'm not trying to go track by track cuz honestly I hate typing but all I gotta say is that top to bottom this is a must have if you love good music like I do. My favorites are "Divine Rule", "Fastlane", "When u least expect", "Best of my years"(any genuine fan of Guru would really appreciate this one)"& After Time"(where the producer Solar gives us 16 bars that took me back to when I first heard the wave of 5 Percenters(Rakim,Brand Nubian,Etc) in the late 80's-early 90's - btw what happen to that type of lyrical content). All in all a very solid release. Hey I wouldnt complain if I heard Premier & Guru were gonna release oe more album but at the same time I aint mad seeing one of my favorite mc's of all time doing something new because like track#10 sometimes you gotta deal with the fact that "Those days are gone".

Comment: It's a real shame because on a few of the beats I could see where Solar was trying to go but then he made some dumbass decisions..like on the ride track....the autotune just brought the whole track down....and the mixing is horrible, it's like they just decided to skip that whole process....if they had spent an extra couple months on this album this could of been pretty hot but unfortunately it's premature and lacking.

Comment: I came into this one open minded, come on it's Guru. He dropped some nice stuff without Premier on his Jazzmataz projects. The tracks with features (When u least expect and 6 cypher) are dope in my opinion. Stop frontin' just sounds old. Oh no another auto tune track which ruins a potentialy dope beat on Own worst enemy. I really tried to like this. But Solar is way too hyped up by Guru. Comparisons to premier or any other superproducer will be made and he just falls way short on most tracks. Overall it sounds like a mixtape you buy of some no name on a corner. Old Diplomats beats, auto tunes, some ill advised experiments. Theres nothing wrong with experiment with new sounds if it's any good. But this isn't. And what's with the covers of Hip-Hop albums? Where's the effort for some dope artwork?

Comment: I do love this compact disc! My friends and I had great party times dancing to this and the music is far more fun than that old Gangstarr group he had before, this style has a much bigger rhythm and bass. I agree with the last album reviewer, some of the words did have some comedy and it shows that Guru knows how to make people laugh and smile and that's a nice quality in a person.

Comment: All you people complaining need to realize we are listening to 2009 Guru. If you want 1990 stuff then break out that old Cd. Don't come on here dissing a great emcee that is still giving us a alternative to the crap they force feed our youth these day. Remember yourself in 1990. Are you the same? Think outside the box and enjoy the work the Guru put into this. If not save your opinion and go listen to some more little wain or something. Peace.

Comment: Guru sold out. I can't believe it. His last solo album was a little disappointing. This one is just terrible from start to finish. The beats suck. They lyrics are garbage. It's time to retire. If Hip Hop isn't dead yet, it's taking its final blows before it dies now. Remember when you crossover you can't come back. You're done. Retire.
