If you have the vinyl (no CD release of this. Nice!) Homeboy gives a detailed description of himself and each song on the album, so I won't do that here. A perfect introduction of himself for his first Stones Throw release.
Boy Sand made a concept EP, six songs covering subjects that have never been covered in hip hop before.
The opener is "Miracle", A song that describes his writing process. Next, "Mine All Mine" is his materialistic song, not about Cars, Money and hoes like the music mainstream radio plays, but about his socks with holes in them, his scratched vinyl and his bicycle. "Canned Goods" is easily my favorite cut. The name says it all, a song about canned goods, food drives, and how they might relate to the earthquake in Haiti and the Occupy movement.
For Old School Homeboy Sandman fans, they'll be happy to hear the Hum is back, also the occasional curse word, which is a good thing and a bad thing (The album "The Good Sun" had no curse words).
The only reason I do not give this release a 5 star rating is because it's actually too deep and too experimental. Sometimes his off kilter flow takes some time to get used to, same with some of the spacey production. This is not something you'd blast in your car. Sandman's lyrics are something you'll want to sit back and closely listen to, maybe even study. He quit law school to become an Emcee, if that is any indication how cerebral his lyrics can be. If you're into lyrics, and conscious music, get this, listen closely and you'll be greatly rewarded. He's going to be around for a long time | Name: Ceesoundsallday (Posted: 4/9/2012 11:48:00 AM; Partial IP: 05.134.131) Location: KillaKali Comment: Dope Hip Hop It Took Me A While To Get To Sand Man Some Many Good Artist Out There Dont Stop Diggin People.Im glad I Caught Up...Stone Throw Is The Lable To Be At. | Name: Quest (UGHH Staff) (Posted: 4/5/2012 10:27:00 AM; Partial IP: .69.176.50) Location: Boston, MA Comment: God damn I love Homeboy Sandman! I need a late pass, because this is the first of Homeboy Sandman I actually took the time to listen to. I heard it on the new joints radio channel. | Name: Reese (Posted: 2/7/2012 2:12:00 PM; Partial IP: .45.242.98) Location: Niagara Falls NY Comment: I had a feelin this cat was true.
