Not since the days of Nasty Nas has an unsigned artist developed such a following and anticipation for a debut album, not since Pharoahe Monch has an MC taken so much pride on lyrics and not since MF DOOM has an MC been so original without trying.

Enter Queens, NY MC Homeboy Sandman and his official debut album "The Good Sun". This album is the culmination of several independently released projects and years of ripping stages all over the country alongside some of Hip Hop's biggest names (The Roots, Souls Of Mischief, Talib Kweli).

The album, his 1st on indie powerhouse High Water Music, boast some of his most personal material to date plus some of the best producers at the moment. Tracks like "The Carpenter" showcase Homeboy Sandman on full emcee mode. With his spit rapid flow Sandman shows that you can have fun while demolishing a track. "Being Haved" produced by DJ Spinna shows Sandman in story telling mode as he narrates a fun story of an everyday kid growing up. "Yeah But I Can Rhyme Though" produced by Ski Beatz is a third person narrative questioning Sandman about his career.

Also along for the ride and behind the boards are Ski Beatz (Jay-Z, Camp Lo), DJ Spinna (Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Michael Jackson), Psycho Les (Beatnuts, Mos Def) and underground heroes 2 Hungry Bros plus new comers Core Rhythm and KO Beatz. On the mic, the album boasts appearances by Fresh Daily, John Robinson and Daniel Joseph.

Comment: Don't see how you could possibly hate this album. Not liking it I could see, but "worst fucking shit ever" and "this shit is full retard." What the hell are you people listening to? We cannot be hearing the same album. This is a very solid album from a great emcee.

Comment: Your style of typing is "full retard". This album is dope. This man is a true emcee-crazy flow, original voice/personality, interesting word play, captivating concepts-and he is actually fun to listen to. These haters are simple minded wannabe hip hop heads. This shit right here, this the REAL shit. He hooked me with his effortless flow, and kept me in with insight.

Comment: Some throw aways..but as an entire album its a dope listen straight inspiring..once you catch onto homeboys patterns the album opens up for you..well put together album so Big Ups to everyone at High Water who helped on this..And lastly Jon Robinson steals the show with his verse on "The things they carried"..If Homeboy surrounds himself with music like this he's going to see some longevity in this game..peace

Go cop Sonic Smash and listen to that joint, and the whole album for that matter! Im pretty sure High Water Music is DJ Spinna's label, so you know this shit is gonna be quality hip hop!!! Comment: Sandman is a dope MC, but as an album it's a 7/10. It's not cohesive at all, no theme, no blending, no real aim. Some of the production here is god-awful and the posse cuts are really boring. It amateur hour from a young recording artist. There are some real gems here on the album: "Not Pop" "Yeah, But I Can Rhyme Though", "The Carpenter" and "Angels With Dirty Faces" are huge standouts from an otherwise lackluster collection of songs.

Comment: Sandman is the most original MC I have heard in a long time, If you like this check out his older albums: "Actual Factual Pterodactyl" & "Nourishment (second helpings)"...I like both of those better than this but this is still higly flammable...5 Stars for originality...
