Comment: @tru skool - I agree with you I think people over hype this album alot just because it's boom bap and not your typical popular hip hop trash. It's an ok album, nothing more. "Teach Me" is a good warning where his style could fall to from here.

Comment: this sound ok but like Kendrick Lamar this kid is overrated, I got a feeling that over time he'll be going commercial!

Comment: That last bonus track could have stayed on the cutting room floor, but other than that, this is dope front to back. Homage to that 90's style without d*ck riding any particular artists or sounding dated.

Comment: This is a great album. This kid is just killing it, I hope he still keeps making dope hip hop music like this.

Comment: This album is hot and the videos are great! The sound for some reason is comparable to the Nick Wiz LP that he dropped a year or 2 ago. Dope beats and dope rhymes essentially using the 90's era style and you have instant bangers all over the place. Basically taking over like The Outdoorsmen did when they first dropped but then they fell the f*ck off, well Action did anyway. But, I guess you get money, that's what matters. Hopefully JB doesn't end up like them.

Comment: Yikes, people throw the word "classic" around way too much these days. Don't get me wrong, JB's debut album is damn good. I am glad this album lacks a “major" or “hot at the moment" feature or production credit. It seems the guest list was carefully selected. He also stuck it out with most of his usual production collaborators. Of course, as a 30+ hip hop head, I enjoy the old school feel to it. The only thing I hope is that Joey can grow with each album and not solely be just a “throwback" or “nostalgic" rapper. This album is a great start.

Comment: There are so many dope tracks on this album. For example, "Belly of The Beast," “Paper Trail$," “Save The Children," “No.99" and “Run up on Ya." Even the “Greenbax Interlude" beat is incredible. This album reminds me of LeBron James in his rookie year, there was so much hype and he more than lived up to it. It's the same thing for Joey. Congrats, you got your first classic on your hands. Keep up the classic work.

Comment: People are way too quick to claim a 5 star album over pure hype. I wanted to love this album but can't say I do. The whole album gets nowhere past 3.8 stars. Joey wants to take it back to the 90's? Then where are the classic 90's style, head nodding, change your blood pressure beats with the drums that straight knock? There's nothing like that on here or even close, it's more like beats that click and pop. It's not that 90's feel at all on the production. Take a trip back to ‘93 or ‘95 and see what a Premo beat really sounds like. This Premo beat on here sounds like something that should have collected dust. Really, the production ruins this album. Tracks like "Belly Of The Beast" are so flat and boring that it almost motivated me to knit a sweater waiting for it to end. Some good production could possibly motivate Joey into a real classic someday. People who still can make real hip hop beats still exist, use them next time and make some real 90's boom bap. Damu The Fudgemunk, Lewis Parker, Lord Finesse, Kankick, Thes One, Buckwild, ILL Treats, to name a few.

Comment: This is a tight album, I give it a 4.5. It has a lot of flavor. Among many others, I get a Tribe/Das Efx feel from it from time to time. You can just leave it on repeat, cop it!

Comment: This album is dope. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars was because there are 3 tracks that I'm not feeling. "Hazeus View" and “Paper Trail$" are banging and my favorites as well.

Comment: I have to agree with you, Lpac. Being a fan of DnB, those 2 tracks don't belong on the album. Consistency is key.

Comment: This most definitely lived up to the hype and was well worth the wait. "Escape 120" and “Teach Me" don't really fit on the album and should have been released as singles but the album is straight fire and I'm sure nothing will top this in 2015.

Comment: I'm on my third listen through and it keeps getting better. There's a nod to the past yet a modern twist on an old recipe. This is the best I've heard from this next generation, bars/flow with a new/old style that's on point. He's got that east coast Jamaican flow that's just dope. Production is tight with those nice jazzy/classy boom bap loops. This is one of the best albums in the last while in my opinion. Ok haters, do your worst.

Comment: It's cool, I wanted it to be better than it is. It needs better beats. I'm not too much of a Static Selektah fan, plus it can be hard to keep an album consistent with so many producers.

Comment: It's amazing to even see someone like this be popular nowadays all while making straight hip hop music without the gimmicks. I didn't even know it was even possible to get recognized by the mainstream without being bubble gum rap now days.

Comment: I'm loving Joey Bada$$, I had this on pre-order and I'm glad I did. This album is completely dope, I just listened to the snippets and can't wait until the CD is delivered. I highly recommend if you're a real hip hop head, don't front.

Comment: I'm already bumping to three of those, you never disappoint. Joey gave me the feeling like I had dinner with hip hop himself. Not too many features as usual. Dope producers lined up there.

Comment: Pushed back from Sep. 20 until Dec. 9! This is so disappointing, I've been looking forward to this. Love Joey Badass I hope he smashes the world with this release. I'm playing my part spreading the word Joey is the truth and what NY hip hop sounds like, he is refreshing, he doesn't give hope to someone who grew up on Wu-Tang and Nas, no, no hope needed because Joey is what it is. He is dope.

Comment: I mess with Joey Badass... at least one of these Hoppers pay homage to the real art of lyricism and boom bap beats. As far as young cats go he's got my respect because most of these young cats make garbage for the radio money instead of building a cult following. I think when Nas said Hip-Hop is dead he meant that it was just or became R&B (Rap & Bullsh*t). Keep up the good work Joey B.
