Comment: BROWNBALL, the fact that you questioned if it was a Kid Cudi verse proves that you haven't listened to a single word of the song. YES, that is authentic Kid Cudi, from the 2nd verse of "Soundtrack 2 My Life". I have no reason to lie in any of this. You said that "when West is one of your producers, it only gets worse." LOL Really? Was that by chance a stab at Kanye West? The same Kanye who, despite the BIASED criticism of his auto-tuned 808's & Heartbreaks album, is still one of the top producers AND lyricists of Hip-Hop today? Nah nah, I don't think you meant him... Back to the original topic, being "silver-spooned" as a child is VERY MUCH relevant to this discussion. Let's say, hypothetically, your name was Clarence, and you lived happily with two parents, and let's say Clarence's parents had a real good marriage. LOL It would be obvious that you can't relate to such REAL LIFE issues as feelin so alone as a child in this cold, cold world. If that is the case, I understand. Also, you said basically that Hip-Hop is either "this" or it's "that". This opinion is not completely misguided, except for the fact that true Hip-Hop should reflect BOTH "this" and "that". I think my boy Michael Eric Dyson said it best when he said Hip-Hop is "good and bad, uplifting and depressing, edifying and stifling. All of these features should be represented in our art and should find resonant voicing in the diverse tongues of black cultural expressions." (and yes, that is a Dyson quote) I am aware Hip-Hop is bigger than just music, but I also know that Kid Cudi represents it well through this album. I'm NOT frontin that he's the hottest lyricist, I'm sayin this album is a pure, from-the-heart representation of Hip-Hop.

Comment: Mmmm... I see (head nodding hand on chin pondering your words). The fact of the matter is that all that you just wrote (should it be a Cudi quote) sucks. Basically… just sucks. The dude is elementary at best. Silver spoons are highly doubtful in my neck of the woods, however irrelevant that remains. This is not the music of life. I am still not impressed. Fusions do not amaze. It is THIS (again) or it is simply THAT. Which is it? Which it is - is all BAD. The dude is ALL bad and when West is one of your producers, it only gets worse. If you have been around to EXPERIENCE HipHop I mean honestly be the reason it unfolded and not just hear it or listen to it, but if you ARE HipHop… if people relate you to the phrase, if people relate you to its origin and essence, if you would get off the call lines trying to win tickets to shows sponsored by the radio station… X-mas Jingle Jams and all that bullsh… then you would know that this… even this very thing is NOT that… what I spoke of… at all. Period.

Comment: Ah, but that's where your wrong BROWN BALL. That living water of real Hip-Hop runneth over in the cup of Kid Cudi. REAL LIFE reflection through lyric and song laid over CRAZY out-of-this-world beats, hence the name of the album. If you were silver-spooned as a child and don't relate to it, then I guess you just won't get it. It's cool, I understand. As for me, and the wild shit I've seen in my lifetime, I'ma keep this whole album in rotation because it's soulful and so true. Let's start with the track "Soundtrack 2 My Life"... "I'm super-paranoid, like a sixth sense / Since my father died, I ain't been right since / And I tried to piece the puzzle of the universe / Split a 8th of 'shrooms just so I could see the universe / I try and think about myself as a sacrifice / Just to show the kids they ain't the only ones who's up at night / The moon will illuminate my room, and soon I'm consumed by my doom / Once upon a time nobody gave a fuck / It's all said and done, and my cocks been sucked / So now I'm in the cut, alcohol in the womb / My heart's an open sore that I hope heals soon / I live in a cocoon, opposite of Cancun / Where it is never sunny, the dark side of the moon / So it's more than right, I try to shed some light on it man / Not many people on this planet understand..."

Comment: One shouldn't have to "do" things to original compositions to make them better. The original should stand on its own and the remix used to be the hyperized version NOT that made the club bump but that made your neck break for the insane headnotic appeal it possessed. Where is THAT here? Chopping and Screwing it only makes it a murdered debutante. I douse this cat's flame with the living water of real HipHop. Let it be a decree.

Comment: Kid Cudi has been backed by plenty of heavy hitters too, just like Drake. Peep the words by Common at the end of the first track. It's reflected through his style and through the album. "Enter Galatic" may not be the best selection on the album. It's more of a up-tempo 80's-style dance track. Personally, I love the melody, but if you don't feel it, you don't feel it. Now "Mr. Solo Dolo" is a track that makes this album hot by itself.

Comment: Drake has a swagger in his rhymes that I like. That cockiness reminds me of Jay Z circa 1999. He knows how to put a good song together. Apparently I am not alone in thinking this guy has skills as he has been co-signed by many heavy hitters in the industry today..old and new school!

Comment: I knew you was gonna say that LARS. What is it about you and Drake? I need for him to get some originality, first of all. He sounds JUST like Lil' Wayne without the gangsta appeal. (i.e. Weezy minus "gangsta swag" = "some fag soundin shit"). Kid Cudi's album leaves Drake in the dust...

Comment: Here's some fire for the doubters though... Check out Kid Cudi's "Hyyerr" Chopped & Screwed version on YouTube (not the one by Mike G though, one of the other ones). Also while you're there, check out the Kid Cudi & Asher Roth Freestyle, hosted by DJ Enuff. I don't really care for Asher Roth, but this is a fresh lil cipher by the both of them. LOL It reminds me of me and my n*ggas back home in NC just kickin' it and havin' fun wit it. But after that, come DIRECTLY back to the UGHH site!!! Comment: Okay, let me define "Best New Artist" - a hip hop MC who has recently released his first official STUDIO album. Of course I've heard of Skyzoo before - on The 3 Day High, his other mixtapes, his many collabos (i like that shit wit him and Kidz in the Hall, "Let Your Hair Down"). Shit... I remember when Skyzoo got slayed by Jin on that 106 & Park battle LOL. At least he turned out to be the better MC in the long run... Long story short - "Best New Artist" nominations from me... Kid Cudi, Skyzoo, Wale, I would say Saigon but he's takin forever to drop The Greatest Story Never Told. Am I leaving anybody out? Let me know... And DO NOT say Drake...

Comment: I'm sorry SIOR DA MC if you do not like the album, but I will defend this album to the fullest and please do not place Kid Cudi in the category of "nursery school" rapper with the likes of Soulja Boy, or the guy who wrote that "You're A Jerk" shit, or any other fuck ass rapper who fakin on the stage. The fact that your LOCATION reads "Who de hell cares..." tells a lot of about yourself since true MC's take pride in and represent where they are from... but that's a different topic... and I love Apathy's Wanna Struggle, which rides smooth from start to finish... but that's a different topic... Kid Cudi's album is NOT "just for the radio". It has some hot commercial tracks - "Day N Nite" and "Make Her Say" - but like I said before, he's a new MAINSTREAM artist. But his album as a whole is NOT commercial-minded. Yes. His lyrics have some sub-par punchlines, that has already been established. But this cat has a unique story and has a message and meaning behind his music. His approach to telling it is just different, that's why I compare it to Foreign Exchange, Andre 3000's The Love Below, and now I will even put it next to the feeling of Q-Tip's Kamaal The Abstract. P.S. In no way shape or form am I saying that Kid Cudi is as lyrical as Q-Tip, or 3000, or Phonte. Please read between the lines...

Comment: Very emotional...dare I say it,conceptually strong...and the production was very textured in my opinion...spacey far out type shit...the lyrics where the worst part of this album..he needs to get on his pen game...but his hooks are very captivating...wouldnt call it landmark...but mos def a challenging listen and overall: progressively artistic.

Comment: I promise you LARS, and everyone else who say they hate the album, it's not high-lyrical, but it's the concepts and subject matter that make this a hot album. That, and the freakish OutKast-like beats. Relisten to "My World" and "Sky Might Fall", it's pure inspiration to anyone on their grind, legally or illegally (...yeah I got from Lupe, say something LOL). I think overall too, to be a NEW MAINSTREAM ARTIST, he has his head in the right direction. He ain't on wax spittin about some bullshit rims, bitches, or money that he ain't got. As far as lyrics go, he has the potential to grow with time. Like it or not, the fact that he is able to express and reflect his true self on a track makes him HIP HOP (i.e. hip = the knowledge, hop = the movement, hip + hop = intelligent movement)

Comment: Okay. Yes. Kid Cudi's album is NOT the most lyrical album in the world, but you can't shit on it just because of that. Straight from the beginning on "Soundtrack 2 My Life", he's pouring his heart out about the death of his father and being neglected by his siblings. The track "Hyyerr", I swear is Bone Thugs-N-Harmony reincarnated. "Mr. Solo Dolo" is one that grew on me. Bump that shit while you light an L, and you will be coasting. Plus, mainstream-wise, "Day N Nite" and "Make Her Say" hit hard in the club. If you hate this album, then you must hate Phonte's Foreign Exchange efforts or Andre 3000's The Love Below.

Comment: At first I wasn't feeling it, but after listening to half of the crap on the radio these days... I was ready for something different. I think the problem is with today's hip hop fans is if something is different or hard to understand, it's considered to be wack or garbage. I think that if evry artist tried something different Hip Hop will once again become the force the industry hated and the fans loved. Back in the Golden Era, every artist had a sound of their own. I think that this is where Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, even MF Doom (who at one time was a major label artist) comes in. It's about creativity and originality. KRS-One wasn't lying about that. I like the album's concept... loose, but different.

Comment: The album is fresh and completely different than the stuff out right now. Few tracks definitely standout with dope production on them. I give him credit for doing a concpt album and trying out crazy sounds and melodys idk but its still hip hop to me and is better than 90 percent of the junk out there

Comment: I'm not feeling this album at all & it should not be considered a classic, there are maybe 30 classic hip hop albums...I found the album to be boring and It didn't keep my interested... I give him props for being original but that doesn't mean your album is good.....See Koolmotor by the Five Deez, that is a more polished version of what he was trying to do in my opinion..

Comment: So if South Dakota never produces a big name sports star, then they have no right to criticize a guy like Reggie Bush and call him a "bust"? Or if Montana never has a person from their state become president, they have no right to criticize Obama? That's a stipud theory....(i hate to clue you in, but the world dose not work that way:inside or outside the USA).

Comment: I actually like Kid Cudi's stuff he put out before the album. He has wack moments but I respect his new angle at hip hop. This album is not for me....I can see people loving it or hating it. I hate it.

Comment: The album has its ups and downs. There is way too much singing. I like Kid Cudi "Live" and his underground shit was good, but the album is a little weak. I can't see myself buying the album, way too commercial for me. There were a few tracks I could bump but only a few.

Comment: LARS...the album is not wack...and it's kudi's first...so you are basically saying he is whack...and you say music is universal? if it is why are you hating on it? and lars once your country gets a big hip hop artist I will take your opinion

Comment: I did not say Kid Cudi was wack..I said the album is wack. Can you not read english? The Swedish jokes are so lame at this point...music is universal. Only Americans have a right to judge music? That's a joke! Get a passport and get out of the country once in a while....

Comment: I would rather listen to Drake. Drake is co-signed by many of hip hop's elder statesmen. Cudi's album is just too slow for my tastes. I litterly fall asleep before reaching midway. I give Cudi an A for effort but sorry, I cannot feel this album (i can see some people loving it). I really think this is one of those you either gonna love it or hate it. I hate it. Better luck next time.

Comment: why is it wack????argue... Cudi by far has the most versatile style in hip hop EEVVVEEERR.....he is spitting real shit, that most cats would be too embarrased to talk about, not that thats a good thing. 90% of his beats are knocking..just cuz he's different you wanna say its wack? fine..maybe you would rather listen to rich canadian Drake with his fake new orleans accent, and his bitten style from jay, kanye, and weezey....so I mean if thats ya thing do it..i ain't knocking u...

Comment: This garbage is not worth an argument to me. Let it Rot In Pieces. Kid Cudi has no track record until now and he is officially dead to me. He could have stayed in his mother's basement in Cleveland for all I care.

Comment: This shit is the best album iv'e heard since Lupe's "the cool". Kid Cudi may not be the best rapper but he knows music theory, and has a superb ear for melody and harmony. He's versatile and every song he switches up his flow patterns. he has something to say and inspires others to master their destiny. And he's different and a breath of fresh air to hip-hop. I don't want to get into an argument about Cudi and not real hip hop like lars...First thing sucka....is Cudi rappin on this album? Yes. u dumb mafucka..outcome. hip hop...

Comment: Despite what others have been saying about this album, Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon is a classic. Going out of the boundaries of hiphop and creating something entirely new, Kid Cudi basically has his created his own genre. You gotta give it a try.

Comment: I got this album over a week ago and I had high hopes. Unfortunately, this sh*t is WAAAAACCCCKKKKKK! I mean, the album is not really hip hop, which is cool, however....the music he made here (whatever genre you want to call it) is simply terrible!! The album is slllowww...I mean SADE slllloowwww....I flucking fell asleep the first 3 times I tried listening to it. The best songs are the singles. The rest is hot garbage. This dude is officially a Sucka MC. I mean 20 years ago, if this dude would have taken stage, a guy like LL Cool J would have given him a wedgie while trowing him off the stage. I am so glad I did not pay for this crap..it is about to get deleted from my hard drive and ipod!
