Comment: Kimya Dawson is an enemy of hip-hop. She doesn't appreciate her fans unless they look like an indy rocker. At the uncluded show last night in Denver at the Marquis Theater I had the un-fortuante oppertunity to meet her. I am there to support Aesop Rock, I have been a fan of his work for a while now. Upon meeting Kimya standing at her merch spot, I asked her if she would sing a copy of her new cd for me. A reasonable request. She said she was waiting for a friend and would sign the cd after the show. I said ok and thanked her, told her I was excited to see the show. After the show about 20 remained lingering at the venue. Ace didn't come out (bummer), but Kimya did. She signed for a couple of indy looking kids then started talking with a friend. I waited for her to finish her conversation with that person and asked her after she finished if she would sign my cd. She said no, i'm leaving now. Does a hip hop head not deserve the time of day? Did the 5 people she signed for expend all of her energy? All I know is I am a hip hop'er with an open mind and ear. I was willing to support an independent artist that wasn't really my style because I like music. All I got was the shitty taste of a moldy peach. Kimya you are a looser.
