Item Summary
Kool G Rap is arguably the most influential rapper in the history of hip hop. Artists of the caliber of Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Bun B, Pharoahe Monche and Big Pun have all cited Kool G Rap as being a major musical influence. G Rap was also a member of Marley Marl's legendary Juice Crew whose members include Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, and Roxanne Shante. His career began with fellow Queens, NY native DJ and producer DJ Polo Polo. Together they released their highly influential debut album "Road to the Riches" on the legendary Cold Chillin' Records. Two subsequent and also influential Kool G Rap & DJ Polo albums were released, titled "Wanted Dead or Alive" and "Live and Let Die." G Rap's first solo release "4,5,6" was released via Cold Chillin' in 1994 to critical acclaim. His second solo effort was also released via Cold Chillin', "Roots of Evil." His third album was recorded under the auspices of Rawkus Records but was actually released via Koch Records to critical acclaim. Kool G Rap is now set to release his fifth solo album, "Riches, Royalty, Respect" via Fat Beats Records. "Riches, Royalty, Respect" has G Rap doing what he does best, namely narrating gritty street tales using his multi-syllabic rhyme style.

Comment: Lyrically, we're talking about the best to ever do it. Some of the beats were so-so. His flow is still sick as fuck. I don't understand why people would even question that. He's sounded different on every album he's ever put out. His true fans know that.

Comment: i don't see how so many people here can hate. G has one of, if not the best voices in hip hop. on top of that, the dude can take simple word play, and still make it picture perfect. genius on deck. the mix is not bad either. it didn't have my head hanging to the side... all you engineers know what I mean. it's not the cleanest album, but who really cares. G does it for his fans. he knows a a lot of drake/wayne followers don't fuck with him, but I wouldn't doubt if one or both of them has this album. guaranteed to be your favorite top 10 - 20. had to revamp last post. I didn't proof read it.

Comment: Then I ll give it 4 cause I d give a 3.5 as well - very solid album, some really serious bangers, some forgettable tracks. And the mix seems off, his voice is too loud for the music. But G Rap still delivers.

Comment: Solid album. I would give it 3.5 but I can't so I will round down to 3 because G Rap has changed up his delivery over the years and I miss his old style. This newer slowed down rhyme style is definitely weaker in my opinion. The music is good on this album but not GREAT. It is worth checking out but I am not sure it is worth buying unless you are a hardcore G Rap fan which I am!

Comment: Hollow themes, hollow production. Can't believe he's turning 43 this year and keeps making this one- dimensional nonsense. Only this time without any passion left in his voice making it more monotonous than ever before. A legend? Yes! But he has to stop making music hoping some of his loyal "fans" will buy it just because it's G Rap. Peace out to Heather Walker haha.

Comment: this album is nothing compared to roots of evil, or better yet any other g rap album. roots of evil was a grap at its max and if he were to raise the bar any higher there would be no bar.....so so simple all he had to do was lace an original g rap flow on a bunch of raw ass beats and it would instantly rock the world like a pun x10 but now your boy asks "have you heard the g rap album" and you say "ya its alright" and thats about it

Comment: Def a top 3 album this year. If you hatin on this, U DON'T KNOW REAL HIP HOP!!! Dude will never been like he was in his heyday but considering Giancana was a disappointment beats wise, this release is a much better effort, and who mentioned about Primo not being on here??! Since when was he droppin albums with Primo beats?... never!!! the beats here are more laid back and melodic allowing G Rap to go back to doing what he does best, narrative hip hop, even using some of the trademark multi-syllable flow he was known for. This is a very good album, specially for a golden age era artist still droppin music in 2011!!! I got this in 2nd spot behind the new Count Bass D & Insight album... Neek & Large Pro in 3rd and the CunninLynguists album in 4th!

Comment: @ wer!!!! Are you clinically insane?? Im not sure what you were listening to?? Take a look at the average rating and read some of the comments dude! This LP is incredible, and any real G Rap will tell you that we have been waiting for this for quite a while! Some of his past releases have been sub par due to do poor production lines, but his rhymes have always and will always be on point. Im going to have to declare you an idiot and kindly ask you to leave Hip-Hop and stop listening immediately!! You are the cause and the problem!!! Fack!!! I wanna kill you I think... Comment: This album is the best hip hop release of '11 so far, trust! Dude ain't got the multi syllable flow he was known for in the 90's but lyrically he still kills this album, and the beats are bangin from beginning to end. Giancana was a mistake (beat wise) this is a much better release. I'd put this 1st with 2nd goin to Neek & Large Pro and 3rd to CunninLynguists... so far!

Comment: I agree with lars 100% People need to get off rakim's nuts. G raps records were way too gritty to get the same amount of airplay. This man (rakim) had ONE classic album. Shit, I can name ten rappers that did better than that. Wait, everyone worships ra, so let me hop on the bandwagon. I'd hate to be myself.

Comment: @456 headcrack... Rakim will forever remain a legend but have you heard him rap on his last album?! He only came correct on a few tracks, the rest of the album was a disgrace. Rakim hasn't aged as well as Kool G Rap who keeps dropping classic tracks on the regular and also remains relevant and visible in the underground. You can get 16 bars from Kool G for $500, that's a bargain considering his status and repertoire. I agree that there will never be another emcee as groundbreaking as Rakim but neither will there be another one like G Rap whose style has also been unique and groundbreaking in his own way.

Comment: Ok..lets battle Rakim and G Rap. I will send my first verse: My recital will form a musical brainstorm Powerful sound waves where ear drums are torn The performer recites, competitors ignite Audiences tonight I came to incite Fascinating results, a defeat will be difficult Equivalent to a thousand volts To my brief rap speech you attach like a leech Examine when I'm jamming and when I preach Before I'm completed, you will all be deleted You said I sucked, instead I succeeded Fan fascinator, I supply data According to the groove, I'm a real smooth operator I activate a musical device Dialogues are concise, no need to splice My system contains musical rap rain Instrumentals inserted inside your brain All levels rate low with a medium tempo I give a dramatical cameo show And now you know DJ Polo These party people are ready to go See it's a demo

Comment: The statement that G Rap is better than Rakim is obserd! The only problem with Ra is his production on his last few projects! Other than that he is the God, and will always be the GOAT! Period! Dont misunderstand me, G Rap is one of the best to do it, but there will never be another RAKIM!, Ra was so ahead of his time, he's music still to this day is played in clubs, the radio, etc.
