Product Details

La Coka Nostra is a breath of fresh air in these days of contrived airbrushed rap music. La Coka Nostra isn't trying to gloss shit up in the least. They like it ugly and gritty the way rap music should always be.

La Coka Nostra pulls together five of the most intense emcees the hip-hop world has ever produced to counteract the contrived airbrushed gloss that currently covers hip-hop's exterior. Composed of members Ill Bill, Slaine, Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal, La Coka Nostra ain't rapping for the Hollywood set even if you see them on the mean streets in the city of angels.

La Coka Nostra's debut "A Brand You Can Trust" has surfaced through Suburban Noize Records and is shipping now on UGHH and features collaborations between the group and Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Bun B, Psycho Realm, Q-Unique, Immortal Technique and the Alchemist. "A Brand You Can Trust" is a sonic pistol whipping that the hip-hop genre was been needing for quite some time.

Comment: Ill Bill is the reason to cop this album, he has good delivery and style, as for Slaine. well, he sounds a lil too much like a 'wannabe eminem' and gets boring quickly. The album is average, good beats but Everlast & Danny Boy are 2 40-something year-old white dudes who can't let go of their youth and it shows throughout this record. Hearing them talking about how gangster they are is laughable!

Comment: I swear most of you are retards. First off, its not the 90's anymore, its 2009-2010, you want the old dj muggs or large pro sound go get one of their old records. Any intelligent music listener knows music evolves with time. The type of people stuck in a time period are a waste. The beats are really banging, everlast is just average, but come on bill and slaine just are on another level and totally destroy it lyrically

Comment: This album has been pushed back many times and the hype surrounding it just seemed to increase. With Ill Bill's great solo album "the hour of reprisal" released and great singles sutch as "I'm an american" and "Bang Bang" there was no doubt that this was an album I was looking forward to a lot. Non Phixion and Ill Bill was the entire reason I began liking hiphop and I still listen to The Future is now over and over again. I was expecting some of the same shit on this album, but it would only disappoint. As many have said before Everlast seems to do better singing then rapping at times, and his singing ain't exactly primo if you get what I'm saying. Other then that no other tracks then the ones I listed above seem to have quality enough to actually catch my attention. It's all the same and it has been done before, enough said. I'm giving this a three. I would have given it a two if Ill Bill wasn't on this track, but he lacks new content.

Comment: Slaine needs to get the recognition his deserves. Dude is the best Mc in Boston next to Ed OG, Big Shug, and Termanology. Slaine is talented and one funny ass dude. I seen Slaine and Bill punk 3 dudes after the Harpers Ferry show. Ill Bill said and I quote " Just remember Homey Ill Bill saved your life tonite." La Coka is that real dope Hip-Hop With groups like this Hip Hop may still have a pulse.

And it's not racist to say this, (as if I had to justify myself...), even if it hurts your asses.

Comment: I can't believe all the hate and disbelief going on here..... Are you crazy. A normal person who likes hardcore real Hip-Hop LOVES this album. I had some doubts about it the past years, but no more. The album is crazy, plus it's diverse, so people who say that there is nothing new are awfully wrong ! This IS classic hip hop influence by 90's, but there IS new stuff to it. I'm sorry for all the poor bastards here who have so irrational opinions about this album. Shame on you for trying to shit on such an effort in the name of real Hip-Hop. DOn't be retarded : if they were trying to be commercial, they wouldn't say so much politically incorrect thingz ! That's not the easy way to get on the radio. Use your brains ! And if you don't like it, just recognize and respect the effort.

Comment: There's something that seems non-genuine about this whole thing. I stopped liking listening to angry white guys who think they're all hard a while ago. This stuff makes me think of a bunch of old stuff I've heard like 9 years ago. But I guess that's "real hip-hop," according to the people on this site who claim to be the experts on what it is. If I want to hear some "real hip-hop" from like 10 years ago I'd rather listen to old lootpack or something than this .. just my taste I guess

Comment: Dope production. Dope Lyrics. Dope Guest Spots. Just an entirely dope feel to the whole joint, anyone hating on this is out of their mind. Slaine and Bill murder every track and Everlast is actually very tolerable and even has a few dope verses. Seriously, this album lived up to the hype and then some.

Comment: If you are into mainstream music buy this: Ill bill: meglalomaniac dude, meet him in real life and witness his ass-fake image he have. Just in for the money. Everlast: How old is he 50? Get a rest grandpa, sleazy and dumb pop-voice. Big Left: Couldnt care less... Danny boy:Lanky dude who think he is gangsta with his cheap clothes, haha. Slaine: Boring LCN is just created to make money just look at the tracklist, many songs did they drop long time ago.

Comment: Believe the hype. The album IS dope overall !!! To "La Parte Superior" : yeah, nothing will ever top "WWWB"... But still I think the same as "Foss", below : it still slams more than I expected. I'm happy with it. And I think there IS also new creativity. The "rock" tracks are nicely done. My fav track is GUN I YOUR MOUTH !!!!!

Comment: cant get into this comercial hype 4 real, it aint nothing special, its jus solid but still average, I guess its the white thing again, I mean, bill holds it down, but everlast hooks are fuckin retarded, and the topic scheme is played-out, they all did it before, specially slaine and the cult leader. whatever. keep them nutz on ya chin!

Comment: With this long wait... better not disapoint !!! I'm fiending for this like no other album, still I feel like LCN has not yet dropped stuff on the level that one would expect from such great artists... Not a fan of "Do it" and "Once upon a time", for instance... Still I'll support them anyway. "I'm an American" is dope !!
