    Summary

As a founding member of revered New York hip-hop group Main Source, Large Pro put out a hip-hop classic straight out of the gate. Since then, Extra P's sound has given you Nas's "It Ain't Hard To Tell," Tribe's "Keep it Rollin'" and nearly all of Kool G Rap and DJ Polo's Wanted: Dead or Alive among others. His productions in the mid-nineties defined the term "boom bap." Which is exactly what to expect with his first LP in over three years. On Main Source, LP has enlisted legendary emcees Jeru the Damaja, Lil' Dap, Big Noyd, AZ, and Styles P to deliver a lesson in hip-hop purity. No skits. No songs based around dances. No forced collaborations sprung from the mind of an overeager and clueless A&R. Just Beats. Rhymes. And Life.

Comment: i will give this lp a 5 star just for the last track -the hardest, make a livin is a straight banger too, party time is nice but the hook got to go, other than that like I said the last track the hardest is just super deep, zoned out, laid back, official real banger with the east coast sound just the way I like it. if he would just make beats like that he would be really the illest -much love to the pro through all the years of bangers

Comment: What is happening to all the greats? I'm a HUGE large pro fan but this album was relatively disappointing (except In the Ghetto, Hardcore HipHop, Sewin Love, To the Meadows). Not really a cohesive album...just a bunch of songs (half-ass production for most). Large Pro is still putting out bangers for other artists. Expected a lot more from his solo joint.

Comment: Real nice album right here. Hip Hop music is universal now so a lot of people have their different takes on it, but I'm speaking from the heart of it all and telling you now that this is "certified hip hop"! Anyone who says different is probably some wannabe rapper or producer that doesn't know what it's about. I personally like Maica Livin cause that's where I'm from. Long live Large Pro. The hood has spoken.

Comment: Great album..I know Extra P personally and he is a real good dude and does it for the artform of hip hop. Anyone who sh**ts on this album has no clue what the base of hip hop is. The beats are tight and the album is like a lost gem held in an air tight vault from the 90's and finally released. Peep the track "Sewin Love"...one of his best solo joints ever!

Comment: If you listen to album "for what it is" and then listen to it a few more times then you'll love this shit. My fav album of 08! As an LP fan since the early 90s, I def think he's evolved enough so he's still relevant but hasn't gotten corny like a lot of his peers.

Comment: Where do I start with this one? This is another one that I was anticipating from the moment I heard about it. Sadly, the production reminiscent of Primo's production on the Ownerz album, only worse. Those who heard that album should have an idea of just how shitty Large Pro's beats are on this outing. And the rhymes? Lets just say that Young Berg has more complex bars and Sage Francis has a better flow than Extra P. I hate to say it but the only thing that hits other than the dope intro is the blink and you missed it Jeru track (even his boring ass flows better than LP on here). I already some people are gonna say that I'm "hating" on a legend which he most definitely is, but if you listen to this album for what it is (utter trash) you will soon realize that legend or not wack Hip-Hop is still just that. How's that for real?
