Product Details

Recorded over four months in Oakland, Lateef The Truthspeaker s solo debut FireWire brings together some of the best producers of underground hip-hop on one album. Featuring production and guest appearances from some of the biggest names in Indie Hip-Hop (DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, Del The Funky Homosapien, Dan the Automator, The Grouch, Chief Xcel), FIREWIRE is a tour de force of musical depth, creativity and production. Guest appearances by Lyrics Born, Del the Funky Homosapien, and The Grouch turn up as well, giving the album a family feel. From the hype of the lead track "Let's Get Up" to the old school boom-bap of "Oakland", and all the way to the aggressive pop of "Hardship Enterprise" and the Tarantino-esque vibe of "Say What You Want", the diversity of FIREWIRE is as apparent as it is refreshing. With a tracklisting meticulously constructed by Lateef himself for maximum listening enjoyment, the album has a little something for everybody - from the old school Solesides and Quannum heads to the Electro/Dub step fanatics, FIREWIRE has it all.

Comment: I'm a Lateef fan but this album falls short of what I expected, lyrics are ok not the Lateef i'm use to from back when.

Comment: Quite a poor album, the hip-hop culture, unfortunately, only trace amounts of shares to be covered. Is not this will be the album of the year for sure. Three on a scale of ten.

Comment: What happened Lateef??? I was digging the Maroons & that lil mixtape thing you did with DJ Zeph. But that 'LOVE IS LOVE' mixtape you put out was creamy yellow squash squash and now I finally get a proper Lateef solo...& you seem to be chasing the SAME BOHEMIAN COFFETABLE COLLEGE alternative cross-over crowd that Lyrics Born snagged in with his "HELLO" song. The only problem is that stuff is fluff but there is a certain CHARM to some of it...your stuff...however is lacking that lil' bit of charm. I've seen you live freestyle & rip the hell out of the mic...but on're singy-songy-style seems watered down & dilluted from earlier Lateef...I remembered the first time I heard your classic "THE RECKONING" single. Now I just PRAY & hope I can forget forever what I heard on 'Firewire.'

Comment: This is hiphop? No, this is trash. It is mostly terrible, out-of-tune singing with the odd rhyme thrown in here and there. THIS IS POP MUSIC.

Comment: Next time you come to this city...leave the attitude at home. You ride a washed up Gift of Gab's coat tails. Be happy heads even acknowledge your existence.
