    Summary

Little Brother is back for the very last time with a new album to satisfy the yearning masses. The North Carolina duo, made up of hip-hop heavyweights Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh recently announced the upcoming release of their fourth and final album, LeftBack. With production from the likes of Khyrsis, Denaun Porter, Zo!, Symbolyc One, J. Bizness and King Karnov, LeftBack is poised to take listeners on an epic auditory adventure. Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh will also be extending invites for the farewell party to fellow emcees Torae, Truck North, Jozeemo, Chaundon and Median, while crooner Darien Brockington and chanteuse Yahzarah are on hand to add a touch of the melodious to the album.

Fans will be excited to learn that LeftBack features 13 tracks of unadulterated hip-hop, while the album artwork finds Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh standing tall amidst the ghosts of albums past, press coverage and other memories accumulated throughout Little Brother's celebrated career. "We wanted the fans to have that moment of nostalgia when looking at this artwork" says Rapper Big Pooh. "You are able to take a quick journey from the beginning of our careers to the end as Little Brother by glancing at the artwork."

Comment: It's sad to hear this is their last album. Great group that put out great albums. I was actually glad to hear 9th wonder wasn't producing the album. After listening to his collabo with Murs, it was good that Little Brother went with Khrysis. Solid album over all.

Comment: It's a shame to see a talented group split after only like 5 or 6 albums. Little bro has always came strong wit releases. I can say dat dis is better than the last release, but being that dis is their last album, they should of 9th wonder on dis. Its a good collection of music but I dout dat dis will b their last LP. The song that I am really feeling right now is second chances.

Comment: I must say that this album is ALOT better than I expected. It is certainly worth buying. It is far from perfect, but there is nothing truly "bad" about this album. The beat on "24" was stellar "tru hip hop". It is a dope beat for those who appreciate old school beats chopped up oh so finely...scoop this album up, it is one of the few that is actually enjoyable to listen to from beginning to end. It won't rock a party, but it is great ipod or music to bump in the ride or crib on a Sat. morning.

Comment: Ok after listening to the album it has grown on me a bit, but it's really lacking in good production....Not only do I miss 9th I miss Illmind, Kev Brown or Oddisee, they could have made this a better listen..... Khrysis let me down with his production and I feel he could have done better..... I'm not hating just being honest... There songs and topics are cool and I really enjoy their music, but it's a bit weak for their going out party....

Comment: This album is DOPE as hell, all the way through! My opinion may be a little biased because I love EVERYTHING Little Brother, so I'll put it like this... If you are looking for another Listening or another Minstrel Show album, you are NOT gonna find it with this release. Their sounds and styles have evolved since then (other than because of 9th's departure) so you just gotta hear it for yourself. I can say that LB is strictly on their grown man shit with this album and they do it damn well. Phonte straight BODIES the beat on "Tigallo For Dolo". Also, "Second Chances" and "Before The Night Is Over" are real smooth. I do kinda wish they had put some fresh new verses for the two GetBack remixes, but it is what it is, I ain't mad at 'em. That one by Zo! is the illest. He starting to become one of my favorite producers. Overall, it's not necessarily their greatest release, but it's still classic Carolina...

Comment: For all the doubters of Tay and Pooh rockin it hard without 9th, LB has released an official album sampler through YouTube and the Hall of Justus website. It's only like 9 minutes long, and it's scratched and mixed together by DJ Flash, but it gives you a good feel of the sounds for the upcoming release. It includes the iTunes bonus track "Star", which is the song that 9th did not want released with the Leftback album and heated extra tension between him and Phonte. Why 9th doesn't want it released? Don't know. Not really relevant now. My opinion of the sampler may be biased, cuz I love Little Brother to death, but this shit is bangin! Carolina STAND UP!!!

Comment: yo, you peeps are crazy out there lol. this will be a dope album either with or without 9th so im not even concerned. I do like that group home reference/analogy even if I do think that phonte and pooh are better lyrically than melachi and lil dap anyway. but premo made that album. have premo produce a lil brother album, now that would be interesting. oh and the foreign exchange album is timeless!!!

Comment: LOL @ LARS. Nah, you miss understood me. That whole "playin the record" quote is directly from the opening of the song "Dreams", off of the GetBack album. You should be wondering if Phonte smashed. (Probably so) Relisten to that track when you get the chance, I think that is one of Big Pooh's hottest verses when he comes in.

Comment: I am slaying Dan not because his opinion is different, but because we have a rift on this site. He said some bullshyt about me because I am Swedish. The man has alot of nerve being from Norway and half mexican. Nothing against mexicans, but how a someone from Norway can talk about a Swede is beyond me! We are so close together as countries but he has the balls to say Swedes know nothing about hip hop. Then the same goes for Norway! He also tried to rep Mexico but I am sure if you fropped his azz in Juarez, Mexico he will be screaming for his life looking for the Norwegian consulate. I hope J-Aura, that you got to "smash" that "lady friend" of yours...playing music for a "friend" should always mean that you hitt it! But callin' her a N*** is gangsta! wow....

Comment: LARS, don't slay Dan cuz his opinion's different... it's just like how Phonte said on the opening skit of "Dreams"... Real story, I was playin this record for a friend of mine. We was just chillin. I was just playin her the album, and she was like, "Yo, I love the record, the record is incredible, but something's different. It's just ain't the same." Comment: LB defined hip hop for me back in 2005 when I was first turned on to the Group. The Listening, Sleepers (Pooh solo), Chitlin' Circuit (my fav) and then Minstral Show...all dope. Phonte will do his thing with Nicolay and Pooh just needs to work with dope producers to really get a better jump on his solo career. Hopefully this album wont disappoint.

Comment: I love 9th just as much as much as everyone else but you can't say that Little Brother was dependent on him for them to drop dope shit. Guys like Khrysis and Notts have produced some of their best beats in my opinion. Can't wait to hear this one. With Little Brother putting out their last album, Tanya Morgan may quickly become my new favorite "group."

Comment: Little Brother is the pure defintion of real authentic hip hop. I remember the day I was put on to the listening and it blew my mind. When I blessed to see the live show I was even more blown away. LB will forever remain constant when other artists failed to bring the real, This album will be a testament to a great career. 4 albums 2 mixtapes and one of the best live shows in the last 6 years.

Comment: I would agree with y'all if Phonte and Pooh were just average MC's in general. Don't get me wrong, I love 9th Wonder. He has pretty much established himself like the new generation J Dilla, but Little Brother as a group isn't purely dependent on him. It's not the same, but that gives them the chance for something new and groundbreaking. Prime example, The GetBack album was the truth. Collectively it was a whole new evolved sound with no slump or filler tracks. And now, for this album, I'm confident in Khrysis handling a bulk of the work. Just by looking at tracklist... Chaundon, Torae, Bilal, Zo!, Jozeemo, Yahzarah's sexy ass voice... C'mon son! This joint is gonna be ILL... By the way, this is off topic, but did y'all hear about Pooh, Chaundon, and Jozeemo gettin in a car wreck recently? Nobody was hurt too badly. Jozeemo got the worse of it, they had to fix his grill back up...

Comment: I am dubious on this release because I view 9th Wonder as more than a "beat-maker"..he actually produces. He knows how to max out these two MC's and without him, it just is not the same. It is not TIGHT but more like..."ight"

Comment: Yo, Tay and Pooh will always be ill, even without 9th. I agree, The Listening and The Minstrel Show are two untouchable classics. But the GetBack album hit HARD all the way through even with one track from 9th. And Justus For All took a minor slump for the simple fact that they were all old mixtape tracks and they really didn't have any concept uniformity. BUT, I am 99.9% sure that this LeftBack album is gonna rock everyone's socks off! Khrysis is a solid producer, as well as Kon Artis and Zo!. I'm disappointed 9th didn't contribute, but it doesn't shake my confidence of Phonte and Big Pooh rockin' this joint...

Comment: Damn, why the hell are they breaking up, these guys changed my outlook on hip hop. I hope this album is on minstrel show or the listening level but it looks like it is very short and has to remixes from the getback which was good but not great. we will have to see, I want to hear some samples or something shit

Comment: 9th should have been at those shows! He is a group member. He was the music provider. At the shows the people wanted to see him and I was one of them. Who the fluck cares about seeing DJ Flash??? 9th got too busy for the group and he left. He was selfish & killed the group...point blank. Sometimes people need to be selfish to take care of themselves but it is what it is....
