    Summary

We made Breakseven originally as a tool for our own use. Quest had long talked about pressing up some "sho wax" that he could use specifically with Livehuman. So we spent a few months in the studio recording bits and pieces of ourselves - with the idea that we would be able to remix ourselves live with what we had on wax.

Once we listened back to it, we got the idea that this record might be useful in the hands of other Djs and producers as well. It's a unique soundbank with it's own distinct pallete.

What would happen if you gave ten DJs in battle the same record? The most interesting thing to us would be the view it might give of the artists' mind at their different levels of craft.

And that's exactly what this record is...

This project has been successful in that each artist has been able to metamorphosize sounds from the same pool and create an independent composition, each with its own distinct color. But the amazing part is how well they all work together - like sections of a giant jigsaw puzzle.

The progression from one piece to the other is like piecing together pages torn from the same book - rebound to create a whole new story.

It's the iron chef of break records. Everybody's cooking with the same ingredients - but everyone's got their own flava.

Comment: Toothless seems to be on a killing Spree lol. I use to listen to a radio show on KFJC called Ruck Park on saturdays hosted by Diane aka TRINITY which pretty much was the radios stations follow up to the late Ken Hamilton RIP Monday Beatdown cus they needed someone to take over for the Beat stuff, at the time KFJC was IMO top notch source for independent underground and realative to what would conjure up the creativity and inspiration for different sounds that artist would delve into in their creative process, most listeners would realize this is out of the box stuff, what would the producer or the artist listen to which is not the obvious and typical but will invoke a spark of creativity. Right now I listen to (for over two decades starting from The Drum w Kevvy Kev) now KZSU's the MHZ Show on Sundays 8-12mid which pretty much is on point which fills my appetite for REAL HIP HOP. and the songs they play are carefully choosen (not random) and by knowledgeable with experience and not by kids who are tryin to find them selves or who are just doin the radio gig temporary till they graduate at age 22 and dont know shit and who were once listeners of bullshit mainstream pop top 40 R&B so called hip hop radio. cant knockem for that its just that they just havent seen the other side that just dont conform to what has to be acceptable just because they are connected to entities who control what should be normal and condition them to trendy bull shit a cheap fix from those who cant be anymore creative because they run out of ideas every 2 to 3 years TRYIN to be innovative with the lack of inspiration and consistency for the love of the artform. I could be wrong, but I know ive crossed over to a realm thats more than superficial. right now The Groove Therapy on KFJC hosted by Ms Tiza on Saturdays is what I listen to, she doesnt spoil you with too much of the good shit but seems to push the envelope with creativity. lets just say she has ways of exposing you to the many textures of art in music and you might see/hear different dimensions to music. alright to much info and not gettin to the point, look up Djs of Mass Destruction and you might find Shingo2 Dj Pone and friends on HipHopslamdotcom more insight. and on this Live Human release I also recognize Dj Cue of Daly City (Cue's Records), Square one aka Weezy and Paolo Cutso Garcia both of the FingerBangerz now just called Bangerz (Silver Creek HighSchool Alumni in the Zae who are my HS sports rival back then in 96 but they graduated years after me), Pismo of Burnt Batch from around 98 99 with 'Artforms' 12' and Produce Aisle LP. Nor Cal Turntablist Djs REPRESENT!!!
