Summary

Madlib Medicine Show is a CD music series consisting of experimental hip-hop, jazz fusion, electronic music, and DJ mixes spanning the genres. Originally launched as a one-per-month, year-long series, Madlib Medicine Show #9: Channel 85 presents Nittyville is the first to break the chronology.

Nittyville is also perhaps the most traditional of the series, and we make no bones about it: one MC, one producer, and a rap record all about stunts, blunts and hip-hop.

Frank is Detroit's Frank Nitt, protegee of the late J Dilla, formerly of Frank-n-Dank. Madlib is the Beat Konducta, Quasimoto, half- Madvillain & Jaylib, one of hip-hop's most acclaimed producer's favorite producers.

As for Channel 85, it's clearly off most dials. This album's concept TV station runs one show only, the comic-drama, reality-musical called Nittyville, featuring Frank, MED, Oh No, Madlib, and a supporting cast of extras.

The album is 14 tracks including 10 rap tracks, 4 interludes, and runs 43 minutes.

Comment: In all honesty I don't see why people consider this album sloppy?? Its a different sonic character to the music due to the way it was produced, recorded and mixed. I'd hate for EVERY album to sound like an MPC production and mixed the same as every album. A lot of classics had a "character" about them. With that said its a pretty solid album in its own right.

Comment: this one was sloppy for madlib. It had weird beat placements, almost out of order it felt like. Frank Nitty was pretty decent though, the beats were okay, I liked the song jus' follow though. Also, this is a perfect example of when madlib jizzes over interludes and voice samples of irrelevent shit his fanbase don't care about. He did that with OJ simpson too, so annoying. Not bad but not good with this one. I paid for this one too, my mistake.
