Summary

Long awaited all-new album by Mood (Main Flow, Jahson and Donte)! 20 new tracks of pure fire, this album is a monster. Years and years have passed since the original underground classic Doom (not MF, to clarify for the uninitiated) album dropped in 1997, which featured appearances and production from fellow Cincinnati native Hi-Tek and the BK MC talib Kweli respectively. Comment: @Brrraaaakk: To me the golden era of hiphop is still here, I believe that the indy hiphop scene has been stronger now then it has ever been, thanks to easy access to advance technologies and the rise of the internet. Besides the obvious increase in free downloads, indy labels have more control and power in the final product. The confusing part is with all this "hiphop is dead" b.s, what is meant by that is hiphop is dead on mainstream outlets like corporate television and radio. In the words of prozack turner "hiphop has never been dead, u just bought the wrong wax" This coudnt be more true for myself, the hiphop scene has been just as good now as in the 90's, in fact I think there is more good music now then that period. You just have look a little deeper than the usual mediums that dominated that so called golden era.

Comment: Situation right now with overall 4 star average is way too high for that album. I started to check that CD with very low expactations because of what I've heard from others and for starters I was even surprised, because it started alright. Of course times have changed and I tried to take it for what it is - all those hooks, live instruments and that caribbean vibe - I can even take that, hoping that it may get even better. But it didn't get better - just the opposite : middle of the album is quite terrible and the overall lack of hip hop drums is too much I can take... By deleting 5-6 worst joints I would give it 3 stars, but not now, sorry P.S. I like Main Flow and I liked "Doom"

Comment: Wow how has my childhood been crushed. The classic album "Doom" which has gotten so many spins in my lifetime still resides close to me even to this day. A new Mood project got me excited until I pressed play. There are a couple of decent tracks but for the most part I had a very hard time listening through this. Im all for groups experimenting and growing their style and craft but if it dosent work it dosent work. Im not just stuck in their past sounds since I can appreciate new creative outlets and direction, but I feel this was made with no heart or soul. The production does no justice to Dante and Main words, but then again didnt they have a say in the beat selection? Anyways for the select few that choose to enjoy this project then by all means enjoy it.

Comment: I hate hip "hop fans". PERIOD. I mean what the fuck do yall really want? I see some of you guys post bullshit comments about how hip hop sucks and you wish it sounded the way it did back then..BLAH BLAH BLAH. I get it, the 90's were the 2ND golden era. But I mean we grow, and so does music, Shut the fuck up, sit back and listen to the sounds. If it sounds like the artists put no effort into the project then yea I can see that, but don't knock the shit cause it dosen't sound 90's. Truth is, if hip hop would go back to the true golden era yall idiots would be rockin high top fades and cangos.

Comment: I never heard fans complain that groups dont grow. If you come out with a sound the fans love you got them. Change that sound and get to artsy about it you loose em! Thats just real. Older heads like myself love the sounds of 93-99 its just what it is. Rza and the wu drop with all production done chamber like would be a wet dream. Its just what it is. Grab the mic and rip your shit thats what fans want.

Comment: 96 was DOOM/2011 is Live Again! This album is ahead of it's time. Concepts/lyrics/live instruments, DOPE!!!I like the fact it doesn't sound like anything else,it's in its own class. Not your typical premo/chopped up annoying sampled hip hop beats with that lack any melody. (u know the ones premo spawned back in the 90'sthat lack their own sound.) Jahson def has his own sound. Please put the instrumental cd out too

Comment: I agree,Doom was classic,so I felt it was hard to top. But this cd blew me away! from the first dark sounding opening to the 70's jazzy sound of "x factor". I haven't stopped bumping it!!

Comment: Doom was a classic. When cats drop a classic album and try to follow it up its usually a let down. When they try to follow it up almost a decade and a half later, it is pretty much guaranteed to be a let down. I guess I'll just hope for the best but expect the worse with this joint.
