Comment: This is officially my least favourite M.O.P. album. Lpac I prefer First Family 4 Life, eventhough Firing Squad probably had a couple individual tracks from Big Prem that would be tough to beat, but FF4L was tough from beginning to the last track New York Salute. And Lars, hard luck with that Denmark match Saturday. Better luck tomorrow

Comment: I feel you d-stroi! For most people they think that undergroun hip hop is wack because it is too deep and at times dark...most people look to music for escapism and to feel good. I happen to like both underground and commercial...Going back almost 20 years ago..I was the guy that would have Young MC & Compton's Most Wanted all on the same mixtape! LOL

Comment: i agree with what you are saying and understand where your getting at especially with the t-shirt theory lars. I have no problem with anyone making money, but I think how an artist does it and handles themselves doing it is the question. Lil Wayne is built off strickly image and thats what the a & r's have pursued him to be. Why? I dont know. I personally dont think he has talent with the microphone and spits jibberish. A lot of his metaphors are questionable with no substance/contant to his music. what? because he holds a guitar on the cover of rolling stone hes rock, no. Hes making a lot of money and god bless him but there are so many dope emcees in the grind spitting dope lyrics and have nothing to show for it. Sure they have great albums and great fans backing them, but they gotta eat like everyone else. A lot of them probably dont mind where their at but others are probably like, "how is this dude making money off of his wacktivity". I do understand what you are saying though, but it doesnt seem right. and I think premo understands this theory because thats why lil wayne or jeezy arent involved with his records cuz its not appealing. Maybe for the $ it would be appealing but as far as talent and love of the music, that overpowers $. I would pay $30 dollars for a j-live record as apposed to a lil wayne album for $5 dollars, because I know what im getting and the content that he brings to the table.lastly, I think lil wayne and jeezy arent hiphop, I think that they are "rap artists" out trying to make a buck, like a job. respect do lars, good looks!!

Comment: I feel you d-stro...Premo is for the underground, HE IS THE UNDERGROUND....arguably the best underground hip hop producer ever (i don't think anyone in underground hip hop has laid out more enitre banging albums in the 80's, 90's and post 2000 like Preme has)...I think Jeezy and Wayne would jump on a Premo beat if the opportunity arose. Wayne and Jeezy are more hip hop than people give them credit for. Wayne especially tries to expand hip hop horizons...much like Run DMC reluctantly did in the 80's....think of it..would you rather sell red t shirts and only those who like red t shirts will buy your stuff? Or would you rather have black, blue, green, orange, brown, etc to appeal to a larger group? Not one person here would rather make less money for the same job when they could be making more. So don't be mad a Lil wayne beacuse he gets his money. He used to be underground and got what he could get...he owed it to himself to to make more money and he is doing it in a big way..I applaud him for that. Nothing is cute about making albums and making little funds for your efforts....JAZ....I did like Madvillain ...that may be my only Madlib project that I tip my hat off to...maybe Doom's fingerprints on the tracks helped me like it a bit better.....

Comment: i really didnt bang that song at all. to be honest I was more into nas then anything. Jay's first album I liked and stopped listening to him until I heard the black album which grew on me. I was never a jay-z fan. and I dont know why we got into a premo vs timbo conversation lol, but I like conversating anything about hiphop so keep it coming. I also respect anyones opinions on any matter including this one at hand. the only beat I liked by timbo was that track he did for nas "small world". and you probably are right about 95% of artists would use timbo but I think its because of sales and the commercial feel that they would get on the album. What would todays generation do with hearing a premo beat on a young jeezy or lil wayne album? they would probably be like "whats this" lol. timbo has that poppy commercial feel that could work with south music as well as the midwest or west that the people love today. Dont forget, premo can also turn down artists if he doesnt want to work with them or wouldnt benefit him in anyway. Premo could also be pricy for his production as well, who knows?? I do know that he likes to work with hard working emcees that have true talent and the love of the music. I think this might seperate from timbo because of the mighty dollar that every commercialized producer is egging for. dont get me wrong, timbaland has been around for a minute and showing his versatility but his sound doesnt work for me and like you said its an opinion. basically its like this, the "commercial" side of hiphop artists would love to have a timbaland beat or a dre beat, but the "underground"/"independent" hiphop artists would love to get their hands on a premo beat or a large pro beat. For me, I always look at the production credentials on albums, so if other people do the same especially in the commercial world then people would be like "whoa, timbaland produced that track" me, im like "oh ish, premo did that track" lol. its all good lars, good looks on your opinions. you know your stuff. Im just gonna sit back and wait for another madlib invasion sonnnnn!!!

Comment: Big Pimpin was corny???? WOOOOW! Ok...to each his own...I am sure at one point your butt was in a jam bouncing to that song...those ill flutes? YOU CRAZY??? Ok...maybe I am crazy...but that sh*t was incredible. I have the Jaylib CD...I do not like it. I have ALOT of Madlib stuff (Lootpack, all of the Mindfusion volumes, a couple of the Yesterdays New Quintet stuff, and Quasimoto)..I spent ALOT of money on Madlib just to try to "like" his stuff as much as everyone else raved about it. I just cannot feel him. His stuff is just too "out there and all over the place" for me. I get on and make comments as a true hip hop consumer...I gave everyone a chance...but when my hard earned money gets wasted on these so called legends with sub par efforts that pale in comparison to their old school efforts, then I come down hard on them. So when guys like Lil Wayne & Drake drop fresh new updated material...I give them props. SHOOT ME! As for Premo's production outside of hip hop..it has been OK at best for me. The Christina Aggi track was just aight...I bought the album Buckshot Lefonque and that was just aight to me as well...the best joint I heard Premo do outside of hip hop was D'angelo's "Lady remix"..a certified banger. If Timbo is not elite, then why do artist pay him 5 times as much as Premo to do their music? (rappers included) Do you think they just like pissing away hundreds of thousands of dollars for the hell of it, or do they look at it as an investment? The general public has no idea who produces tracks...they just judge the music. I bet you 95% of MC's would LOVE to have a Timbo track. I do not think the south and west love Premo like the east coast...Timbo crosses all boarders...but how did this turn in a Timbo vs Premo discussion? I listed Preme AND Timbo in my top 5 in no order for a reason...but to be clear...I do like Premo better than Timbo but I feel Timbo is more versitile.

Comment: yo lars, just cuz timbo does a rock album, r&b album, or a hip hop album doesnt mean hes elite. big pimpin was corny. dj premier stepped over and did christina aguileras record and other producers have done other genres such as hiphop, blues or even jazz for that matter like el-p or even madlib. but your opinions are all good homie. and madlib is dope, just check out the jaylib album with him and dilla. peace

Comment: I can understand the Timabland backlash...the man is a great producer in my opinion. He can do a monster hip hop record (Big Pimpn'_jay z), a monster r&b joint (Are You That Somebody_aaliyah), a monster club record (Give it To Me_nelly f), or a rock record (Apologize_OneRepublic).....Timbo is basically a hip hop producer that can cross boaders...no one else does this in hip hop on that level. Timbo dose not box himself into just hip hop, but hip hop "purists", whatever that means, will hate you for expanding your horizions. Understand that the more music you expose yourself to, the better the chance you can bring an element back to your bread and butter genre, in this case, hip hop, and reach new heights. Some producers can't do this but Timbo can. J dilla is a great one and can easily be subbed in my fave 5...but madlib...ehhhh...I don't like him at all...

Comment: i cant hate on lars comments and opinions but timbaland doesnt cut it for me. besides him being cocky and saying hes the best, hes no better than dre and I dont think dre is that good. You can also say that pete rock beats sound the same but I can tell who the producer is on almost any track when I hear it cuz its their sound. pete is soul full and premo is grimey. But my top producers of all time would be: premo, large professor, pete rock,hi-tek, dilla and I love evidence's productions. The old rza would be on my list as well. the new rza is not. I am also feeling what ant has been doing too. peace

Comment: Premo and Quik obviously have two different sounds. I think Quik is the best at the clean sound and Premo the best at the grimey sound. Quik is more versitle than Premo to me because Quik can do beats outside hip hop equally as well...I don't view Premo as much as anything other than a hip hop producer although he has done non hip hop beats. I am not knocking Premo at all, I love the dude...I just like to big up Quik in any producer convo I get into. Side bar...I think that Marley Marl is the godfather of all of these hip hop producers today...the man is just nuts! Pete Rock is dope but I would not put him in my top 5 beacuse too much of his stuff sounds the same. My top 5 all time (in no order) Premo, Quik, Large Pro, Timbaland, Marley Marl. Just my opinion; everyone has a different one so don't hate me for it....I don't hate you for yours...

Comment: what up lars my dude. im gonna have to disagree with you on that dj quik comment. The only producer that would probably be better and more versatile than premo is pete rock hands down. pete can loop and sample like no other. quik is a legend dont get me wrong but premo has been consistent since day one and all his beats are bananas. some may say that his beats are simple but thats why people are always hungry for more cuz they are hard and work. he just knows how to do it. peace, good looks abrupt

Comment: DJ Quik is pretty dope...I think he and Premo are about a tie. DJ Quik doesn't make the hard beats like Premo but he is far more versitile. I like DJ Quik better than Dr.Dre! Quik to me is one of the best ever in hip hop....'nuff sed

Comment: timberland, quik, and pharrell better than premo? cmon dude you cant be serious. premo, large professor, pete rock, dilla, the old rza, marley marl, lord finesse, diamond d, easy mo bee, alchemist, evidence, 9th wonder, ant from atmosphere, hi-tek, madlib, muggs to name a few puts your top producers in a box. do you even know what site your on dude? and im not even gonna touch your mannie fresh comment cuz whatever your smoking must be some good ish son. r.i.p roc raida. they say the source is in new ownership, is that you oakland? and premo isnt good or that great, hes one of the best if not the best and has been consistent from day one. ill give you havoc and even kanye but mannie fresh and timberland better than premo is stupid to say and I think you know that. btw, this album is pretty dope. fizzy womack can even be on the list of great producers, just has a little bit more to do to be put on that a list. big ups

This has been m.o.p's memo for years my dude. straight up in your face hip hop. if you dont like it then bump some young jeezy or blueprint III. hopefully since your from "oakland" you would be bumping some hiero or even some zion-I, but reading some of your comments on ughh thats probably not the case cuz anyone who likes hip hop wouldnt be knocking m.o.p. im only giving this 3 stars cuz I havent heard the album yet but I will be purchasing this asap. not trying to dis but recognize the vets in the game. peace
