Can't believe I spent 12+ years thinking Berk and Womack were "real." Oh well that's showbiz! Snowgoons is an apt moniker, those clowns wouldn't know warmth if volcano 86'd their town. RIP hip-hop. |

The Snowgoons did what they had to do on the production tip, provide beats that put the emphasis on the rappers. |

Snowgoons ain't really been on there A game since their Black Snow album and their overall sound was getting worse with each release they put out after, along with the weaker quality of MC's that were appearing on there albums after their second smash but I always thought that they made better beats for other artists outside of their own compilation albums, that bein said, M.O.P have neva been wack but they been in the wilderness for a while now... until this dropped. Title track is an instant classic and booooy do Danze & Fame turn up the heat with hardbody lyrics and gutter flows all over. I think being only 10 tracks deep made the album even better. aside from maybe 1 or 2 above average beats, Snowgoons really deliver in the beats department and compliment M.O.P's rugged and raw style perfectly. I'd def put this in the top 10 for the year..., maybe even top 5.... top 3 for def, in order, are 1) Apathy - Honkey Kong - 2) Tragic Allies - Tree of Knowledge - 3) Bronze - School for the Blindman... forget the haters judge them purely on this release, not past hits and misses... these guys rep the underground so we should be thankful that MOP continue to put out quality hip hop after almost 20yrs in the game. Well done boys! You've helped make the last half of 2011 an absolute killer time for real hip hop. |

My favorite track is "OPIUM" that track goes hard raw lyrics over a bangin' beat. I hope they get some production by "premier" on da next album cause it surprised me that he only produced 1 track on "foundation". Anyways this album still is bangs and is goin' in my "collection" nuff said!! |

Man, I'm not trippin'. Back in the days I used to be a big fan of M.O.P. "The Warriorz" is one of my top 5 albums. But seeing that almost all of the old school artists don't even touch that level that made them famous back in the days I prefer to be reserved until I heard the new album drops.
If you see the ratings I give to the artists you'll see that I'm not a playa hater. If the new M.O.P. album will be fire, than... 5 stars from me is the right rating.
Peace, out! |
