    Summary

Before materializing as an official group, the Natural Elements were originally conceived as a group of soloartists brought together in 1993 under the tutelage of producer Charlemagne. This initial grouping included members Mr. Voodoo and L-Swift along with KA, G-Blass, Howie Smalls and the InTimidator. By 1995 the unit had morphed into a straight up group including the newly-added A-Butta. When the Natural Elements line up solidified A-Butta, L-Swift and Mr. Voodoo dropped sizzling singles like "Live It Up" and "Bust Mine". 12"s, Mixtapes, appearance on the "Stretch and Bobbito Show" and the like made waves and built a strong fan base. The trio's countless appearances on the NYC freestyle and mixtape circuits culminated with a record deal on the Tommy Boy Black sub-label and the release of the single "2 Tons" in 1999. And that's where the story takes a wrong turn. 'Issues' between the group and the label exploded and expanded with the end result being a fantastic debut that was shelved - until now. After a decade of gathering dust, Natural Elements debut full length is ready for your ears. With the original masters secured and remastered, Kings Link Recordz and Kenny Diaz proudly present all the cuts that help change the NYC underground forever on Natural Elements 1999: 10 Year Anniversary.

Comment: I am an NE fan from way back on the Stretch and Bobbito Show in the 90's WKCR baby!!Some of the beats could be better but even on these beats NE are killing it lyrically.especially Voodoo.on that Paper Chase Track..hot fire. This is a must have!! Remember these lyrics are from 11years ago and outshine or as good as your favorite rapper. I also have these cats on tape freestyling off the Hoohaa Busta Rhymes beat killing it!!!

Comment: the reason some of the beats arent the classic charlemagne sound is the direct influence of tommy boy..dont forget that major record labels demand a certain sound and if they dont get it well..thats how albums get shelved and later leaked through alternative sources..wich is the case here..this is somewhere in between what tommy boy wanted and what NE wanted..not their best material right? right..stay independant

Comment: Well it's nice to finally have a mastered version of this album. But honestly, it was their earlier material, mostly promos and freestyles that really made them who they were. When I heard the 'unofficial' version of this album, I wasn't too happy with it. Certain songs sounded like they were doing to make the label happy. How can Char's beats go from so ill to so wack? I hope we can get another release from them, except with all their promos and some of their legendary freestyles. I'm still buying this, just sayin'.
