| J Dilla NOT In A Coma | 1/19/05 |
| | By: Food Stamp Although rumors have been floating about, based on a okayplayer.com post by ?uestlove, that Jay Dee is in a coma, he is NOT. The Motor City producer, though, is in critical condition due to possible kidney problems that he learned about in the last couple of years. After returning from Europe several years ago, Dilla fell ill. The doctors diagnosed him with kidney failure due to not eating right and being stressed, and informed the beatsmith that not taking care of such an illness could result in death. "I had never been so sick in all my life," he said in an article on stonesthrow.com. "I had never been in the hospital for nothing." We here at UGHH.com wish him the best, and as more details come we'll keep you updated.

| Dre's Assaulter Blames Suge Knight | 1/19/05 |
| | By: Food Stamp We all know that there has been some pretty bad blood between Dre and Suge Knight, and now Dre's accused attacker from the Vibe Awards is pitting the assault on Suge. Jimmy James Johnson, the man accused of punching Dr. Dre, told police that Suge threw him $5000 to assault/embarrass Dre when accepting his awards. Johnson also claims that Knight would also forgive his brother's debt if he carried out the act. Suge's lawyers are denying all allegations, claiming that "there is absolutely no truth to it. I am so confident that there is no issue." In related news, Young Buck, the rapper accused of stabbing Johnson, plead not guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon last week in a Santa Monica court. According to authorities, Buck is facing a possible 8 years in prison. More details to come after his February 18th preliminary trial. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Can't Duck The Radar | 1/19/05 |
| | By: Food Stamp It looks like 2005 is going to be a rather large year for the Boot Camp crew. Koch Distribution has set the official release date for Sean Price's Monkey Barz for April 26, 2005. Ruck, after the success of his Donkey Sean Jr. mixtape, will also be releasing a new mix in anticipation for MB, entitled Passion Of Price dropping soon. 9th Wonder's and Buckshot's collabo, Chemistry, will be hitting stores this May. June will give birth to Smif N Wessun's newest album, and finally under their original name, but details are sparse. Tek and Steele have already collaborated with Dead Prez on a joint called "Warriors Heart," which features the emcees in a back-and-forth lyrical diatribe. | DJ Jazzy Jeff Moves Over The Hill | 1/11/05 |
| | By: Food Stamp Damn, it seems like it was just yesterday that Jazzy Jeff was sportin' the tight denim on the "Parents Just Don't Understand" video, making cameo appearances on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, or rockin' parties on the streets of Philly. Now, Jeff has sold over 10 million records, won some Grammy's, he's producing laidback heatrocks at his A Touch of Jazz facility, and duke is now a Grandmaster. Come celebrate his groundbreaking career at his, yeah get this, 40th birthday celebration on January 22nd. The event will be at Shampoo on 7th and Willow in his hometown, and will feature some of his fellow disc-jockey pioneers: Maceo (of De La), Pete Rock, Kenny Dope, Biz Markie, and Jeff will even be hitting the decks. All this for 10 bones too. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| | By: Food Stamp In late 2000 when Binary Star's Masters Of The Universe hit the streets it got a lot of burn then disappeared. Now it's been re-released and that reintroduction came just in time to spark a new interest in the Midwest group and its members. Arguably one of the Star's most verbally exercised emcees, One Be Lo (aka OneManArmy), is set to drop his solo debut S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M., which is an acronym for "Sounds Of Nashid Originate Good Rhymes And Music." The album is slated to drop on February 8th and features production from One himself and his homie Decompoze (together as the production team Trackezoids) and also features work by Pete Rock. Interestingly enough, One Be Lo will be dropping on Fat Beats Records and is their 1st officially signed artist. One Be Lo will also begin a nationwide tour starting January 15th with Hangar 18.

| The Roc Stays Pretty In Pink | 1/11/05 |
| | By: Food Stamp Although Killa Cam has stated that he'd be leaving Roc-A-Fella once the company was bought by Def Jam and Jay-Z was made CEO/President, sources say that Cam'ron is bound by contract to lace a few albums. Although he had mentioned possibly following in the footsteps of Jim Jones and the Diplomats inking with Koch, he may be bound to completing several albums under the new president's administration. In the meantime, Cam is prepping his pay-per-view film, What's Really Good (and no, it isn't porn). | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Pharrell Quits Boys Club | 1/11/05 |
| | By: Food Stamp As has been the trend with commercial rappers, and now racking R&B singers/producers, after you make some booty through music you then move on to apparel. And, for some, this has not been the most successful venture. Just ask the Neptunes' frontman Pharrell, who is now suing Reebok for $4 million claiming that they breached their contract. Pharrell claims that the sneaker company failed to meet the approval standards of Pharrell's Ice Cream footwear and Billionaire Boys Club clothing line. The lawsuit, which was filed before Christmas, professes that "In January 2004, only a few months after the execution of the agreement, certain Reebok personnel began to acknowledge to BBC that Reebok could not adequately produce the full range of licensed products…Reebok repeatedly assured BBC that the non-conforming and disapproved aspects of these samples would be corrected. Reebok, however, failed to correct these deficiencies."
