| | By: Food Stamp The Santa Monica Police Department issued a warrant for the arrest of G-Unit rapper Young Buck on November 16 in connection with the violence at the filming of Monday's Vibe Awards. The victim of the stabbing is L.A. native Jimmy James Johnson, who is blamed for starting the altercation by punching Dr. Dre several times. | Snatching A Few Krumbs Back | 11/17/04 |
| | By: Food Stamp Several weeks ago Krumbsnatcha found himself in an odd position during the listening party for his new album Let The Truth Be Told. At about 1:30 AM an altercation between people at the party and Krumb's label owner, Prynya Sommola, broke out. Sadly, some people leaving the party in a car hit Krumb injuring both his knees and fracturing his lower leg. According to Krumb, there were police who witnessed the hit-and-run, and did nothing but try to get Krumb and company out of the area. Move forward to the present, and Krumb is threatening Boston area police with civil rights violations, which are currently being assessed by his lawyers. He told AllHipHop.com, "These guys have arrested me before on fake warrants, towed my car and everything. I [went] to court and there wasn't even a warrant."

| | By: Food Stamp Man, it seems like J-Live has been all over the place during the last couple years. With several LPs and EPs under the belt, as well as some independently released joints and numerous guestshots, Live has inked a deal for his third full-length with Penalty Recordings/ Rykodisc. Not only is The Live One a talented emcee, but dukes possesses an acumen for both producing and deejaying…this project should be no exception. Over the years Live has crafted his albums, by remaining relatively independent with a great deal of creative freedom, but as the artist himself notes, he's progressed. In a press statement Live said, "When you listened to hip-hop music, the best emcees seemed to get hotter every year…Basically, that's what I'm trying to do with my music." The album should drop in the spring of next year…more details to come. Live concluded on his signing, "I feel like I'm in the right place at the right time." | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| ODB Makes Final Appearance | 11/14/04 |
| | By: Food Stamp This weekend we saw the untimely death of Russell Jones, who is better known as Big Baby Jesus, Osiris, Dirt McGirt, and most commonly Ol' Dirty Bastard, one of the original Wu-Tang members. Just two days short of his 36th birthday, ODB collapsed on the floor of 36 Records LLC Saturday. Although the cause of death seems to be natural, paramedics were unable to revive ODB when they arrived on the scene. An autopsy has already been scheduled to reveal the true cause of death, but it could take up to ten days for results. According to sources, no drugs or paraphernalia were found at the scene. Let's try and remember him for the good he did and the smiles he brought to our faces. True indeed, R.I.P. ODB.
"Russell inspired all of us with his spirit, wit, and tremendous heart." ~Damon Dash "There's nobody like him in the game…He's a very rare commodity." ~RZA "This is a big loss. But I guess he's with the Father now. He's in good hands."~Ghostface Killah

| Prince Paul Hanging Up The MPC | 11/14/04 |
| | By: Food Stamp When someone asks you who's the greatest producer of all-time, for some reason Prince Paul, although he's on the tip of the tongue, gets overlooked. With the newly released Handsome Boy Modeling School LP, White People, already making a stir, the Prince among thieves has decided he's only got a few more projects in him. "I'm embarking on my last solo attempt," Paul told Billboard.com. "I'm going to get a bunch of like-minded people and make my last attempt to change the world. After that, that's it." Apparently the retirement is partially in response to the mixed reviews that he got on his last release Politics of the Business. The new joint that he's speaking of is an EP/DVD with the group Dix called The Art of Picking Up Women, which should drop at the beginning of 2005. Following that release Paul plans to drop an album filled with vaulted gems by groups like De La, Stetsa, and Gravediggaz.

| MED May Be Titleless | 11/14/04 |
| | By: Food Stamp Although he's appeared on nearly every Stones Throw release, MED (aka Medaphoar) has yet to drop a solo full-length. Well, finally he gets his turn. Slated to drop this February or March, is MED's first solo entitled, well, umm, they don't have a title for it yet. Tentatively called The Album, Stones Throw may be taking title requests from fans as MED has been a bit capricious about picking a title. Either way, the album will boast the production of J Dilla, Madlib, Oh No and Just Blaze. So kiddies, make sure to check www.stonesthrow.com for more information on the new MED joint. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| People Coming Out From Under The Stairs | 11/14/04 |
| | By: Food Stamp It seems like it has been a minute since P.U.T.S. dropped O.S.T., and, well, it has. Although the tandem of Thes One and Double K have popped off a single here, a guest spot there, and maybe even an EP (Or Stay Tuned) somewhere in between, they've taken their time to make sure their newest album will be mad quality. Stepfather is the duo's 4th album released by Om Records and should be making its way into your hood May 2005. Starting in May also will be a national tour that P.U.T.S. will be headlining and then the group is off to Europe. You can catch an early glimpse of what is to come when People Under The Stairs perform with De La Soul November 20th at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Da Brat Gets Surreal | 11/14/04 |
| | By: Food Stamp VH1's The Surreal Life has brought us some comedic moments via some washed up rappers (exclude Flava Flav from that list) over the course of the first three seasons. For the fourth season, VH1 has enlisted the funkafied personality of Da Brat to bring some heat to this house of quasi-celebrities. The show will also feature the oddities of Chyna Doll (WWE), model Marcus Schenkenberg, Vern Troyer (Austin Powers), Christopher Knight (The Brady Bunch) and up-and-coming model Adrianne Curry. Should be an interesting watch to say the least and starts January 9th. | | | | Subscribe RSS |
