| Hogs up, Ho's down.. | 12/27/05 |
| | By: Trees UGHH was the first website to report on J-Zone and Celph Titled's collaborative effort, "Bo$$ Hog Barbarian$" back in the early summah time. Well, the album is now officially complete. Titled, "Every Hog Has Its Day" the album features production handled almost entirely by J-Zone & Celph Titled, with the sole exception coming in the form of one beat from Da Beatminerz. Droppin' next month, the first single will be "$teady $mobbin'" b/w "Celph Destruction". Both songs are produced by J-Zone, and "Celph Destruction" is a Celph Titled solo track. Audio for "Hog Luv", an album cut, can be heard at Zonesite.net or at myspace.com/jzoneoldmaid. In other J-Zone news, the man definitely was not bullshittin' on the track "Sleazy Listening" on his last album. He always wanted to do porno music and now, the time is here. Zone has a few beats on "Asian Bang", a new porno directed by Xavier Blaze which drops on Ethnicity Films/Video Team in January 2006. Hogs up, ho's down, biiitch! Capt. Back$lap got the sounds for them freaks! | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Lif's New LP Nearly Complete Says EL-P | 12/13/05 |
| | By: Trees The follow-up to Mr. Lif's critically acclaimed 2002 debut LP, "I Phantom" is finally reaching a legitimate stage of completion and warranted an update by the trucker-hat helmed head honcho on the Def Jux website. Lif's sophomore joint, tentatively titled, "Mo' Suffrage" is steady taking shape. So far El-P reports that 9 tracks have been finished, and the majority of the production has been handled by the El Producto himself. El-P was quick to refrain from divulging too many secrets about the highly anticipated second album from one of Beantown's finest MCs, but stated that Aesop Rock and Blueprint will grace Lif's project with verses over a Blueprint produced track. When describing the sound of the album El-P stated, "Everything is fuckin' nuts. I'm taking a grimey-er approach with this record. Not much syth work... lots of Bomb Squad influence and organic breaks and drums." Personally, I feel anything Lif touches turns to gold and anticipate this LP to be one of the most talked about in the oh-six. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| | By: Trees Sean Price is quickly putting the finishing touches on his second solo LP, tentatively titled, "Mighty Flow Young". The album marks the quickest followup LP in the history of the Boot Camp Clik. But which Sean Price will show up for this album? Will it be the ignant broke rapper next door or the gun wielding Decepticon. Sean P answered the question himself stating, "This album is not "Monkey Barz"!!! It's not as funny (cause I wasn't playing this time). It's hard body, to the point." With production from 9th Wonder, Khrysis, and Scram Jones already in the bag and over 75% of the album completed, Jesus Price promises that the album will be the first 2006 BCC classic. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Fat Beats Announces Several Additional Label Signings | 12/1/05 |
| | By: Trees It was less than a month ago when I was stated Fat Beats Records were quickly becoming the ‘G-Unit of the underground' with their flurry of prominent artist signings. Well, I stand by that claim again as Fat Beats announced today two major additions to the label baring the name of the legendary NYC vinyl shop. Louis Logic and Ugly Duckling are the newest family members on a roster which is already home to prominent indie MCs One.Be.Lo, Count Bass D, and El Da Sensei. Louis Logic seems confident about the deal stating, "I've been looking for a good home where I could settle down and partner with a label for a more professional release experience. Fat Beats is the longest running name in the indie rap business, so I'm proud to fly the flag." Young Einstein from Ugly Duckling also seemed equally ecstatic about signing with the label and was quoted as saying, "We're very excited about signing with Fat Beats Records. This is our first time signing with a label with hip-hop credibility and we're certain that it will take our career to another level." Fat Beats promises Louis Logic's follow-up to 2003's Sin-A-Matic and Ugly Duckling's "Bang For The Buck" will drop in 2006. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Rawkus Still Alive | 12/1/05 |
| | By: Trees Unless you just got into independent hip hop last week you are definitely familiar with Rawkus Record's rise from heralded indie upstart to their convergence with MCA and repositioning as a major label brand name, and their fall to music industry obscurity. A new chapter in the story of Rawkus records begins this month. The label, still under the umbrella of MCA, is prepping for it's first release in over a year and a half. This month Rawkus records will drop a ‘Best Of' collection featuring some of the singles that made Rawkus the most important independent hip hop label of the 1990s. Rawkus also just recently signed the critically acclaimed underground hip hop group The Procussions to the label and will release their next LP, "5 Sparrows for 2 Cents" in early 2006. With the addition of The Procussions to the label Rawkus is quickly making good on their promise that they will again attempt to break new acts and push existing ones to the forefront of the hip hop industry.
