Somebody Give Necro A Day Off5/25/05
By: Trees
2004 was obviously a huge year for Psycho+Logical Records. With a new release practically every month you almost expected the camp to take some time off in 2005, maybe tour a little, and get some much needed R&R. Well, these cats defied expectations again by recently posting up their release calendar for the oh-five. First up, the second installment in the heavy Necro & Ill Bill Street Villains series. 22 tracks of death, rap, gore, sex, and good ol' fashioned degenerate behavior. And according to Necro this mix cd, "Is better than most cat's albums." Next up, getting the instrumental treatments are 6 of the classics from '04 (Necro's Prefix For Death, the solo's from Ill Bill, Goretex, and Sabac, Mr. Hyde's debut solo, and Brutality Pt.1). In July Necro drops a new LP entitled, The Sexorcist, sure to be laced with his lyrical John Holmes flows. Late summer brings us two P+L super-groups; The Circle of Tyrants (Necro, Ill Bill, Goretex, & Mr. Hyde) and Secret Society (Necro & Non Phixion). After that, the Necro & Ill Bill collabo LP, and more than likely a DVD or two sprinkled in there to round out the year. You gotta give it up to Necro, when he's not grinding bodies in his trusty wood chipper, the dude is steady grinding out new albums for the consumption of the legions of Psycho+Logical fiends out there.

J-Zone/Celph Motivated Collabo5/25/05
By: Trees
The self proclaimed "Tom Jones of Rap," J-Zone and Producer/Rapper/Demigod/Multi-Man Celph Titled are collaborating on a full-length LP together entitled, Bo$$ Hogg Barbarian$. According to J-Zone, who is tight lipped about the specific details of the project, the LP is slated to be released in "Early 2006," with a first single dropping in September. With J-Zone and Celph handling almost all of the production exclusively, compacted with their trademark sh*t talkin' vocabs, you can expect the album to definitely come chock full of quips, hits, and quick wits.

M.O.P. Dashes From Both Damon And The ROC5/10/05
By: VanStylez
M.O.P. has reneged on an earlier decision to join Damon Dash Music Group after Dash split from Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella Records earlier this year. Group manager Laze E apologized to fans for ever having signed a deal with the ROC to begin with, pointing out that MOP is "destined to travel the desert, vagabonds, wild hyenas searching for bones or a fresh kill. We aren't classy we are rough, hard ass ashy knuckle ass niggas." Laze claims M.O.P. currently has a recording deal domestically but are making moves towards locking down another deal for an international market.

Busta Narrates Stevie Wonder Video for Visually Impaired5/10/05
By: VanStylez
Musicians have broken a lot of barriers over the years, but Busta Rhymes and Stevie Wonder have outdone even the best of them on this one. A longtime fan of Busta, Stevie Wonder contacted him to narrate a second version of a video for his latest single "So What The Fuss" that will be accessible to the blind and those with poor vision. The song which is off Wonder's upcoming album A Time To Love will also be featured in its original form for music video channels.

Junior M.A.F.I.A. Set To Re-Up The Brooklyn Zoo5/5/05
By: VanStylez
Remaining Junior M.A.F.I.A. members, Lil' Cease, Banger (formerly Larceny) and Klept have inked a deal with newly formed Mega Media Records for their upcoming sophomore album Riot Music. The album, which is slated for release on May 17th, features Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleak, Method Man, Jadakiss, Prodigy (of Mobb Deep), and the late Notorious B.I.G. I don't suppose that nearly a century-long hiatus will have spawned anything as hot as the Biggie blessed hits "Player's Anthem," or "Get Money." Hopefully former Bad Boy Pastor Mase's return won't have set the wrong precedent, and stepping away from the limelight will have reinvigorated the Mafia with new life.

Cam'ron Leaves The ROC5/5/05
By: VanStylez
Cam'ron has officially left Roc-A-Fella/Island Def Jam for Asylum/Warner Music Group. Cam claimed poor promotion for his latest album Purple Haze as the reason for his departure. Cam began entertaining offers after Roc-A-Fella was sold to Universal for $10 million dollars last December. Unaffected by the sale, Kanye West and The Young Gunz remain on Roc-A-Fella Records, while Beanie Sigel and Noreaga have been reassigned to Damon Dash Music Group. In related news, Dipset member Jim Jones has landed possibly the hottest job in hip-hop, hunting down new talent as an A&R for Warner Music. While Jones' upcoming Koch records release Harlem: Diary of Summer is scheduled to hit stores this summer, no release date has been set for a Cam'ron's Asylum debut.

Underground vs. Mainstream: Pay-Per-View Battle5/5/05
By: VanStylez
Putting the power back in the hands of the people, 16 Bars is holding a series of three uncensored and uncut hip-hop competitions which will be broadcast live from the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC on In-Demand Pay-Per-View beginning June 20th. Judges from various record labels will control thirty percent of the vote, while the live audience and pay-per-view subscribers control the rest. The contest begins with eight artists competing for the 16 BARS Combine. The winner from the Combine then takes a trip to the Forbes Arena in Atlanta on September 18th to compete against seven artists recently signed to major labels for the 16 BARS Phenom. The winner of the Phenom then travels to the Forum in Los Angeles for a final battle against seven platinum artists on December 29th for one million dollars (half for themselves and half for a charity in the city they represent) in the 16 BARS Icon. Finally the playing field has been leveled between those who caught lucky breaks from labels and those who are just plain talented. Keep it locked on UGHH.com to find out which major label artists will be stepping up to the plate, and don't forget to visit www.16bars.com to register to vote on who you think should take home the title.

Biggie To Be Larger Than Life on the B.I.G. Screen5/5/05
By: VanStylez
A movie shedding light on the legend of Biggie Smalls is in its beginning stages with plans for a big screen debut. Cheo Hodari Coker, author of the book Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife, will write the screenplay. The movie, which currently remains unnamed, is being created by Biggie's mom Voletta Wallace, P. Diddy, and the director of Training Day, Antoine Fuqua. It has not yet been decided who will play Biggie, and whether Junior Mafia, Faith Evans, and Diddy will play themselves. One thing is for sure though, with a rise-and-fall story as tremendous and traumatic as Biggie's, the final product shouldn't be anything less than extraordinary. Keep it locked on UGHH.com for future developments.

Lincoln Park Leftovers Make Delicious Hip-Hop Delicacy5/5/05
By: VanStylez
Lincoln Park's Mike Shinoda is set to release his debut solo album under the moniker Fort Minor this summer. Executively produced by non other than Collision Course collaborator Jay-Z, and tentatively titled, Rising Tide, the album will feature socially conscious hip-hop phenomenons Common, Black Thought, and John Legend along with the lesser known Styles of Beyond. If this alt-rock-rap member's crossover isn't enough of an oddity, the aforementioned LA based underground rap group, Styles of Beyond, has been signed to Lincoln Park's label, Machine Shop Records.
