| Dos-Noun Calls It Quits | 6/23/06 |
| | By: Damino In a considerably lengthy blog on MySpace, Pittsburgh bred emcee Dos-Noun announced on Wednesday that his forthcoming album with long-time collaborator Burns will be his last. Citing an unsatisfactory return on his physical and mental investment in his career and a heightened distaste for the underground hip-hop scene, Dos states that he plans to leave the game now, before abandoning "some sembelance [sic] of dignity." Though, in past interviews, Dos has indicated that he planned to move from hip-hop to "just music," by recording with Burns as The Cosmonaughts, his MySpace missive contained no indication that this project was his next move. According to his June 22nd blog, Dos plans to hang it up for good after releasing his final record and honoring all scheduled touring commitments. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| | By: Damino According to Hollywood industry icon Variety, Eminem has been pegged to anchor a film version of the 1950's television western classic, Have Gun - Will Travel. The series might seem an odd fit for Slim, as it featured a gun-for-hire named Paladin with a love for chess and a penchant for quoting Shakespeare. However, Paramount Pictures, who have reportedly extended an 18-month option on Have Gun – Will Travel to mold it into a vehicle for the emcee, plan to modernize the story and cast Mr. Mathers as a bounty hunter, and may even set the film in Eminem's hometown of Detroit. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| | By: Damino It seems that Nas has revealed to Rolling Stone magazine, in a recent article, that he plans for his forthcoming record, Hip-Hop Is Dead, to "…broaden [his] audience back up to where it needs to be." His co-manager, Mark Pitts, goes further, saying that the record will "…show Nas's potential to cross over from hip-hop to pop." To that end, the Queensboro legend has enlisted the production assistance of many of today's go-to men for nightclub bangers, including Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, Timbaland, Pharrell, and Will.i.am, of Black Eyed Peas fame/infamy, who laid the foundation for the album's title track. Pitts continues to confirm that Nas has contacted none other than the king of pop, Michael Jackson, hoping the gloved one might contribute vocals to the project. The streets are raising a warning flag, but the proof will stay in the pudding, as we will have to wait until September to judge the finished product. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Kay Slay Teams North And South | 6/20/06 |
| | By: Trees No one that likes hip hop music has the right to hate on Kay Slay. The man is a hip hop legend. He began his rise in fame as a renown graffiti artist in the 80s, and later moved on to DJing. Over time his successful Streetsweeper mixtape series garnered the attention of every city street corner, as he was the first DJ to break infamous rap battles between Nas and Jay-Z and 50 Cent and Ja-Rule. He earned the aka The Drama King because he is currently the go-to DJ when a rapper wants to air someone out. In his latest endeavor Kay Slay has teamed the north and south together by collaborating with south coast heavyweight Greg Street to bridge the two worlds for a blockbuster album. The Champions - North Meets South showcases the best talent from each region on one CD. It includes exclusive tracks featuring Fat Joe, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Busta Rhymes, Papoose, Yung Joc, Remy Ma, Lloyd Banks, Three 6 Mafia, The Diplomats, Ghostface, Raekwon, Cassidy, B.G., David Banner, Lil' Jon and many more. | SoulStice and Haysoos Form Wade Waters | 6/20/06 |
| | By: Trees Chicago's been getting a lot of love lately from the hip hop community. With established acts like Common and Kanye making big moves and newcomers like Lupe Fiasco and Rhymefest ready to bust down the door many people have turned their attention to Chi-city as the new breeding ground for quality hip hop music. SoulStice is no exception. The Chicago native, who holds a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering and a government position in department of defense, is also a master on the mic. After re-releasing the full length LP North By Northwest earlier this year SoulStice is now preparing his latest endeavor, Wade Waters: Return of the Kings. The album is a collaboration with Maryland resident Haysoos, who previously collaborated on the smash underground single "Rock Solid" (w/Cuban Link of the Terror Squad). Return of the Kings also finds SoulStice reconnecting with frequent collaborator and Halftooth Records artist, Oddisee, who lends six soulful tracks as well as North Carolina's master beatsmith 9th Wonder. Look for the album to drop on Raptivism this fall. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| New Grimm Album A Government Target | 6/14/06 |
| | By: Trees The good ol' boys of the Bush administration strike again. By now most of you know that M.F. Grimm's new album is a triple disc, clocking in at just under 75 songs. What many of you also know is that this album has been delayed numerous times. The latest delay, confirmed by a producer who put in work on the American Hunger epic, is due to United States government involvement. Reportedly, Grimm included audio on the final version of the album that the feds didn't find to favorable and they apparantly threatened the MC with legal action. I asked Grimm about the government injunction last week and he commented stating, "I can't really speak on that right now, but let's just say, It's a small world". Grimm also stated that the official American Hunger release date is now; 6/27/06. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| AmsUno Re-Signs With Commonwealth | 6/14/06 |
| | By: Trees I remember way back in 2001 when I was packing up customer orders in the basement of the old UGHH.com HQ, before people even knew who MF DOOM and Immortal Technique were, and before Atmosphere put up six figure sales totals, one group maintained steady unit movements and consistently needed re-stocking. That group was Clokworx. If you listened to underground hip hop at that time, you owned a Clokworx release. Essentially, since that time Clokworx has more or less fallen off the underground hip hop map. Sure, the members went on to record some ill ass solo joints and they never gave up the love for the genre, but many fans were left wondering just what the f**k happened to the crew? Earlier this year a repackaged, re-release of an original Clokworx album was put out by CommonWealth records and owner Dru Garrity. The re-release was not supported by the original group, but in the world of contracts and fine print the group was powerless to stop the material from dropping and didn't see a dime from the release. In an effort to inform fans about the boycott, one of the owners of Labeless Illtelligence (the label AmsUno was running with for the last four years), CasUno took to the UGHH.com forums with an open letter to the Commonwealth Records CEO. (to peep the post click here). Now, in a strange drama twist an announcement was made today that the front man of Clokworx, AmsUno has re-signed a deal with Commonwealth Records. AmsUno offered the following comment on the situation, "We chatted and ironed out many wrinkles and made amends. And after careful, delicate consideration, the decision was to finish what we once started years back and reclaim what is rightfully ours... our place in time! F*ck what you heard! Let the critics criticize, and the media puppets pull their strings". | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Three Six Mafia Ch-Ch-Changes.. | 6/12/06 |
| | By: Trees By now some of you already know that the Oscar winning rap crew Three Six Mafia has slimmed down another member. The crew which started with a mind-blowing 20+ member roster of Memphis rappers is now down to just DJ Paul and Juicy J after the most recent departure of Crunchy Blac was announced last Wednesday. Since the announcement of the departure rumors have been circulating the internet and radio shows as to the reasons of Crunchy's departure. The apparent true story behind the departure stems from DJ Paul and Juicy J's failure to endorse or support Crunchy's decision to release a solo project at some point this year. According to MemphisRap.com, Crunchy Blac has actually been trying to get DJ Paul and Juicy J to support him in releasing his solo album for the last four to five years and he (Crunchy Blac) just couldn't take being put off any longer. Crunchy has announced that his solo album WILL see the light of day at some point this year and in the mean time fans can look forward to hearing him appear in a new rap crew called, The Hard Hittaz. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Pack FM Set To Drop Debut LP | 6/7/06 |
| | By: Trees The long awaited debut solo LP, whutduzFMstand4? from Hip-Hop's Punchline King is slated for release August 1, 2006 on QN5 Music/Avatar/Universal. The 16 track album is executive produced by Tonedeff, and is the first QN5 release to feature production from all five QN5 Producers (Tonedeff, CunninLynguists, Domingo, and Elite). Keeping cameos to a consciously low minimum, whutduzFMstand4? features guest appearances from iCON the Mic King and a brand new track from Extended Famm. The album features all new tracks, including 'Click, Clack, & Spray' hand picked by P. Diddy himself to be featured on Marc Ecko's Getting Up videogame (song appears as a remix). The MC notorious for insane amounts of wit and craft began 2006 with his release of '2006 Rap-Preview' a precursor to his LP featuring his forecast for this year in entertainment and was only available officially on the UGHH.com Exclusive QN5 - Next Up Bonus CD (given away with purchase of the new CunninLynguists LP @ UGHH). PackFM concludes the mix with a guarantee that QN5 Music will be the wave of the future. With a track record like this, his predictions are undoubtedly justified. PackFM has received praise for his stage performance and lyrics both in the US and overseas. Featured in XXL, The Source, and Elemental, PackFM was also included in guest spots for MTV's Hip-Hop Week. His ability to combine the braggin' rites of Hip-Hop with a futuristic twist is something that sets this veteran MC apart from most artists in the game. Pick up whutduzFMstand4? 8/1/06 @ UGHH. | | | | Subscribe RSS |
