| QN5 Producer Just Says No | 8/27/05 |
| | By: Trees Many people who've dealt with QN5/ Ruff Ryder producer Elite know that not only is he deadly with the drums but he's also a fan of influencing his creativity through a powerful chemical self dependency. Whether it's downing the liks or puffin' good ol' fashioned greenery the talented beatsmith has grown accustomed to banging the keys through foggy goggles. However, this is all about to change. For the apparent sake of creativity Elite has chosen to take a 30 day sabbatical from all substances and is chronicling his sobriety through a recently launched message board over at QN5.com. Will the talented producer find his moment of clarity, or will he succumb to the temptations of God's greatest gifts, namely booze and blunts? To witness the sure to be emotional events unfold head over to Elite's Sobriety Blog at QN5.com. In other QN5 production news check out track 2 on Tony Yayo's new LP for a track produced by none other than the Baby Blue's own Domingo. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Can't Copywrite Throw More Than Verbal Jabs? | 8/27/05 |
| | By: Trees Do you like seeing underground rappers fighting in size 4 womens jeans? Want to see Icon The Mic King WIN a fight? Hate Copywrite? If you do, you need to head over to www.copywritebeatings.4t.com for the hilarious history of ass kickings the Roc Da Mic battle king has received at various times and locations throughout his illustrious career. The site, claiming to be the official home of the Copywrite bashings, features live video, still action shots, bludgeoned foreheads, and Camu Tao's tight denim leggings. A pretty useful site for those that have never seen the scuffle that was the talk of Scribble Jam or for those that just want to relive the event for the pure comedic value and irony that permeates from the entire situation. | O.C. and Casual LP? | 8/24/05 |
| | By: Trees By now everyone knows that east coast rap heavyweight and D.I.T.C. alum O.C. has signed a deal to the Hiero Imperium label out of Cali. Not only does this make him the first east coast MC to sign to the label, but it also raises the question; is O.C. down with the Hiero crew or is he just signed to the label? Well, luckily I had a chance to ask the man himself this question when he swung by the UGHH retail store in Boston last week. The answer he gave, "You'll have to wait and see". While this is hardly newsworthy, when I pressed the issue a little further he finally revealed that he is planning on working on a joint album with Hieroglyphics rhyme selector Casual. Dope news indeed. O.C. also had a few choice words for Pastor Ma$e in regards to the good reverend's comments that he wrote most of Big L's choice bars. While it would be fun to see a M-A dollar sign E/ O.C. mic war I'll hold myself back from droppin' exactly what the Starchild spoke on, but rest assured the shiny suit padre does not want to mess with the crate diggin' rap god.

| Infinito Adding Strength To The Resume | 8/24/05 |
| | By: Trees Some people work and some people grind. Infinito is definitely the latter. Even before the dude releases his most current project this Friday, ('Roddny Dangrr Fild: Tragedy In Bar Sequences'), he's already talking about the future. The release slate for the MC proves chunky as he is scheduled to drop a new LP this October under his Marcellous Lovelace moniker. The album, which features production from the Molemen is set to stake the Lovelace flag in the underground rap battle fields. After that he drops the sequel to his best selling, ‘A Regular Black Dude' DVD. The follow-up DVD features appearances from Brother Ali, Slug, C-Rayz, Edo.G, and Pumpkinhead as well as original music and freestyles. If that wasn't enough January 2006 brings us another new Infinito project, the Unagi produced ‘Live From San Fran' album. All of which will be available on UGHH.com when they drop. | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| It's Battle Season | 8/18/05 |
| | By: Trees It's that time of year again. Yep, the time of year where Nu Mark and Vestax see a boost in crossfader replacement sales and battle wax grows scarce here at UGHH. I'm talking DJ Battle season. From Scribble Jam to Scion's Guitar Center Battle to the DMCs the tech decks are spinning with furor around the world right now. The final regional DMC battle takes place tonight (8/18/05) in Boston. DJs from all over the Northeast will be converging here to determine who gets the final spot in the National DMC tournament. The winner of the northeast regional will face stiff competiton down in New York Cizzay where the nationals are held on August 26th. From there, it's the World Championship. Previous winners of the DMCs include turntable legends, DJ Cheese, Roc Raida, Cash Money, A-Trak, Craze, and QBert, to name a few. To check out the battle tonight in Boston head over to The Big Easy @ Boylston Place at 6:00 PM. Good Luck to UGHH mixtape master DJ JayCeeOh! | | | | Subscribe RSS |

| Kanye's Vision Involves The Millions | 8/8/05 |
| | By: Trees After putting the finishing touches on ‘Late Registration', an LP the Roc-A-Fella MC himself describes as, "another classic", Kanye West showed the world that there are more important aspects of his life than simply selling millions of records. On July 24, 2005 the Chicago native began pouring his energy into the goal of hitting platinum status in another facet of society, namely the Nation Of Islam's "Millions More Movement". Kan-Yeezy lent his support to the Nation Of Islam in preparation for the sequel to the "Million Man March" set to take place October 15th, 2005 on the 10 year anniversary of the original. This time around the Nation of Islam has set it's goals much higher in their campaign to develop and raise awareness about critical concerns involving economic, social, political, educational, health, financial and cultural disparities in black society. For the first time the march is expected to not only include over a million black American males but also women and children, pushing the total amount of participants well over the million mark. | A Grimm Outlook On Society | 8/4/05 |
| | By: Trees MF Grimm announced earlier this month that his next album will encompass three CDs and feature nearly 75 songs, (cot damn!) making this one of the most extensive hip hop albums of all time. The album, ‘American Hunger' drops on September 20th, but fans can feed their hunger much sooner than that. In coordination with the album release Grimm, along with several of hip hop's most prolific writers announced the launch of AmericanHunger.com. The website is basically an online magazine with a wide array of topics and authors contributing about varying degrees of important societal issues. Peter Agoston, an AmericanHunger.com author and writer for URB and XLR8R described the website as, "a refreshingly bold take of stateside society, from a wholly unique hip-hop perspective". The website also features an in-depth biography about Grimm including information regarding Grimm's early childhood acting roles on Sesame Street and his MC battles with the likes of DMX. The website is updated regularly, so peep it. AmericanHunger.com | | | | Subscribe RSS |
