Don't get the G-Unit affiliation twisted, M.O.P. is still hard as hell and are set to drop The St. Marxmen through Koch Records. The release is promoted as a street album for the hoods and blocks worldwide. After paying their dues and rockin the underground for years with bangers such as 'How About Some Hardcore', 'Hilltop Flava', 'Rugged Never Smoove', and the anthem 'Ante-Up', M.O.P. has consistently stayed loyal and given their fans the hardcore sound despite shady label politics. | Jakki Da Motamouth Signs To Babygrande Records | 9/27/05 |

MHz member and current underground chart topper Jakki Da Motamouth is a hot commodity these days, a change the rapper definitely welcomes. Jakki recently released his first official solo project, 'God Vs. Satan', an album which has taken the entire hip hop industry by storm. The concept album, (which has sold out several times here @ UGHH) has essentially propelled Jakki to a level where the major players in the underground hip hop business have taken notice, specifically to an extent where the MC and Babygrande have finally come to terms on a multi-album deal. Speaking recently with Jakki, he revealed to me that the terms of his new deal include a re-release of the 'God Vs. Satan' album, which may or not include 2 bonus tracks. Jakki also states that the follow up album to 'GvS' is close to finished, will come out on Babygrande, and is well balanced with more stories and some of his 'usual shit'. Jakki also dispelled the rumors that Babygrande was only interested in signing him AFTER hearing the completed album and seeing how well it sold with essentially no major marketing push. Longtime Wu-Tang collaborator Cappadonna is scheduled to release his fourth solo album 'The Transition'. Known for his 'slang editorial' and his colorful gear, Cappa is hungry and ready to supply his loyal fan base with that heat that the game's been missing. Cappa has cemeted his legendary status with his blazin' cameo appearances on classic albums such as 'Ironman', and 'Only Built 4 Cuban Linx'. The rap veteran recently wrapped up a successful tour with Wu vet Inspectah Deck. 'The Craft' marks the most recent release from the group since their 2002 effort Blazing Arrow. Staying true to the new age funk-driven sound of the Bay, Blackalicious leaned towards using more live instrumentation on this LP and enlisted help from Spearhead bassist Carl Young, funk legends Larry Saunders & George Clinton, and Beastie Boys percussionist Alfredo Ortiz. Underground rhyme selector Cryptic One has announced that beginning this fall he will embark on his first ever national tour with Hangar 18. This tour will foreshadow the release of his second full length ‘The Whole Truth, Half Truth and Lies' which will be released later this year on Centrifugal Phorce Records in conjunction with M.F. Grimm's label, Day By Day Entertainment. As many of you already know, Cryptic and Hangar 18 are members of the underground hip hop super group known as the Atoms Family, which also includes Vast Aire and Vordul Mega. Cryptic promises that his new album will have much more energy and more of a head nodding, boom-bap sound than his debut LP, ‘The Anti Mobius Strip Theory', which he has described as difficult to perform in front of live audiences. After dropping a string of dope 12 inches and wowing crowds from Beantown to North Cackalack, the duo known as RADIx are ready to show the world that ‘the hype is real'. RADIx, comprised of Boston MCs Quite Nyce and Seek, have taken the huge step of enlisting a-list DJ and Shadyville representative, DJ Opal to throw down the Shures on their latest release, the 'Prelude to The Staple' mixtape. After publicly dissing the entire city of Phoenix at a recent show in the Arizona city, D-12's Proof made local headlines by reportedly instigating numerous fights at a charity event which eventually led to shots being fired between rival crowds. In response to the black eye Proof has levied upon the hip hop scene in Phoenix, battle rapper and Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype battle champion Apollo has called out the Detroit MC and offered ten thousand of his own scrilla to battle the Dirty Dozen crew member. Rarely do you think about Canadian baseball players when you think about hip hop. Unless of course you're thinking about the Toronto Blue Jay's Desi Relaford's 6 Hole Record label. 6 Hole, the same indie powerhouse that put out classics like Rapper Big Pooh's, ‘Sleepers', Away Team's ‘National Anthem', and L.E.G.A.C.Y.'s, ‘Project Mayhem', is putting the finishing touches on their latest release, Asamov's debut album, ‘And Now'. Blacksmith Music has finalized the terms of a buyout of Jean Grae's remaining albums with Babygrande. Jean Grae exploded on the scene in 1996 in a group known as Natural Resources. She went solo in 1999 and collaborated with greats such as Mr. Lif, Immortal Technique, Masta Ace, and Cannibal Ox. Jean Grae released Attacking of the Attacking Things in 2002 to critical acclaim from the hip hop community. Veteran New York MC Jeru The Damaja will embark on the "Still Rising" European Tour beginning September 23rd in Regensburg, Germany until October 30th. Known for his extensive touring both in the U.S. and abroad, Jeru will embark on a 32 date tour throughout Europe hitting stops in the UK, Sweden, France, Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, and Holland. The Damaja has previously collaborated with performers across the ocean such as Japanese legend DJ Honda, Doudou Masta in France, and the UK's Groove Armada throughout his ten year career. Upon returning to the U.S., Jeru is finishing up his next album due to drop early 2006. Jeru's latest project, Divine Design released on Ashenafi Records is currently in stores. The stage is set for the second annual Vancouver International Hip Hop Film Festival from September 14th to September 18th. There will be a screening of the best independent hip-hop films/documentaries worldwide before public release. VIHF attendees will view exclusive footage from "Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme", the untold story behind legendary battles such as Supernatural vs. Craig G., Freestyle Fellowship, Juice, Planet Asia, Wordsworth and many more. The exclusive screening will also feature the only surviving footage of the legendary Tupac and B.I.G. freestyle! Kaikoo, a documentary featuring DMC 2002 champion DJ Kentaro, and DJ Baku will cover the Tokyo underground hip-hop scene.
