    Summary

Staten Island, NY, native NY Oil is best known for his racy rhymes, social commentary and forthright observations pertaining to the state of black culture and hip-hop. NY Oil is best known for his raucous single and accompanying video for "Y'all Should Get Lynched," which features photos of A-list hip-hop luminaries Three 6 Mafia, Jim Jones, The Game, and 50 Cent juxtaposed with stark images of slavery and lynchings. The video was banned from YouTube within its first 48 hours of upload and generated an immediate firestorm of controversy. Both a divisive and unifying figure, NY Oil speaks unabashedly about the deplorable state of commercial hip-hop music and culture on his debut album "Hood Treason," which will now enjoy its inaugural wide release after a limited and spotty self-release by the artist himself.

Comment: Sick... Powerful and real. I get shivers when I hear new shit that has the real feel to it. Anyone whose been listening to hip hop since liquid swords, stakes is high, and Illmatic knows what I'm fuckin talking about. I agree with Tim... Go back to fuckin school, dig in some crates, learn to hear substance thats meaningful and not bull shit media and then talk about hip hop. Makes me sick.

Comment: What's with calling Clarence Thomas an Uncle Tom in the get Should All be Lynched track? Just because he's a Republican he should be lynched? That's bull crap. Sounds like something from the Reconstruction era. If Thomas is Uncle Tom you might as well call Obama an Uncle Tom as well.

Comment: I saw this dude at a concert in NYC last November and I have never seen a better stage presence than this dude. The songs were amazing in both message and delivery. This CD is gonna be amazing, hands down. I can't wait for it. If you don't know this dude, look up his songs on YouTube or his free internet mixtape 9 Wonders (NYOil on 9th Wonder beats), and you'll get a peek at the lyricism he has become an internet phenomenon for.
