The beats give you that uplifting feeling that PUTS are known for, and the lyrics despite what the man below me has to say are smart, funny and original. If you're not feeling this record, don't hate, just find yourself a new set of ears. |

Name: Neutrinos (Posted: 10/20/2011 3:09:00 PM; Partial IP: 92.211.209) Location: Montreal, Canada Comment: PUTS has always been about representing the old school. And lyricaly speaking old school was rime for rime. Nothing deep. Just word play and cool flow. "Now what you hear is not a test!" |
Name: Dayz (Posted: 10/20/2011 12:34:00 PM; Partial IP: .112.135.3) Location: Delaware Comment: I have no clue what you guys expect??? Not lyrical??? Well nothing on the radio is lyrical and the majority of the world loves that crap! PUTS have fun rhymes and make great music! It might not be Canibus level of complexity but that doesn't matter it is just plain fun and sounds good! Just enjoy it and stop digging and trying to find negative things to say... Internet bloggers sure like to nitpick!!! |

THE BEATS ON THIS RECORD ARE REAL NICE. They make great beats. Theyre both hard working cats who tour the world constantly.
Their lyrics on the other hand... below average and way too simple. No cadence no pun no metaphor. Thats always been my problem with PUTS. The lyrics are not there. It reminds me of "christian rap" - a watered down, emulation of word play..reminds me of The Procussions.
*Just saying a bunch of words in an attempt to sound like they rapping. sorry guys but they're not saying anything... at all. Rap music needs to have LYRICS.
*Hopefully they make an instrumental version of Highlighter.

Name: Brian (Posted: 10/10/2011 12:02:00 PM; Partial IP: 82.165.246) Location: Colorado Comment: It's such a shame to write this because I love puts but the album was disappointing:( Don't get me wrong it has some good tracks but where are the bangers like the last 3 albums? Iv'e always wondered why they can have really dope tracks like can't hold it back and taking back to the streets. But then they have songs that are just wack and awful to listen to like the second track, at the house, cookies theme, and time bandit? Those beats are straight garbage the tracks almost come of as a joke to me. Really disappointed knowing I bought the vinyl from these dogs. I want to say this album is dope as fuck but with all the other releases out there right now it really disappointed me. Sorry puts im not trying to hate just giving an honest review. |

I love their philosophies on sound recording and in depth attention to mixing and production. Just cant get with the rapping.. Its really hard for me to listen to. Not lyrical at all. |

There isn't a bad track on here, the production is amazing, and it takes it in new directions without being overly experimental. Can I give it 6 stars? YOU WON'T REGRET THE PURCHASE. |
