Summary

Albert "Prodigy" Johnson, better known as one half of the Infamous Mobb Deep, will release the third installment of his H.N.I.C. album series in June 2012.

H.N.I.C. 3 follows in the footsteps of its two predecessors (2000 and 2008 respectively) and it features a rejuvenated, but still strange and magnetic Prodigy aggressively debating about life, prison, religion and conspiracy theories. Prodigy's gritty and poignant storytelling is laid on a bed of captivating beats provided by familiar collaborators like Alchemist, as well as Ty Fyffe. Always being praised as one of the darkest artists of the golden era of hip hop, Prodigy has consistently been able to paint the most realistic images of a troubled generation, eternally battered and scarred by unfavorable family relations, unfair social settings and an unusual, sometimes dysfunctional, lifestyle. Regarded by critics as a true poet, Prodigy's album is exactly what hip hop fans have been missing and waiting for.

Incredibly well-received by both public and critics alike, the H.N.I.C. series has been one of the most successful by a member of a very popular group. Released at the beginning of a three and a half year prison sentence for gun posession, H.N.I.C. Part 2 was described as "a much more complete and visceral portrait of an incarcerated man than the most precise and technically sound record could possibly manage" in a review by Tom Breiham for Pitchfork.com (April 24, 2008.)

Since the end of his prison bid in February 2011, Prodigy has experienced the success of his first autobiographical book My Infamous Life (Simon & Schultzer). The book's audio version was remarkably reviewed as "...the best rap album of the year..." by critics' choice site Slate.com. The album's release and promo tour were followed by a sold out series of shows and a national Mobb Deep tour in the summer of 2011.

As a result of the incredible feedback and critical acclaim received by the book and the welcoming public's response and attendance experienced during the Mobb Deep tour, international brand Red Bull executive-produced the first documentary on the history and career of the group. The documentary will debut in June on MTV.

In the spring of 2012, Prodigy attended the groundbreaking SXSW Conference (March 13-18 2012) and participated as guest performer at some of the most trendsetting and popular showcases that take place during the conference (Complex, Pepsi, allhiphop.com, Sony, etc...)

Comment: It's either you hate or love this album and I can definitely see how someone could hate P, he's very different from what's out there. There are a few fillers on this one and on the first few listens it feels quite basic but the more I dig into it the more I realise how good HNIC3 is, even though he's mostly talking about chicks, as a matter of fact especially cos he's talking about chicks. It's a pure banger, a man expressing himself in various styles, moods and contexts. The best tracks for me right now are: 1,2,3,5,6,9,11,12,18,19,20 Like P says in his interviews, you can't stay the same all the time. Most listeners don't understand the nature of creativity. They want the artist to be doing murder raps all the time, but as Jay-Z say in his book Decoded, you won't be a killing machine 24/7. I got Return of the Mac (Nickel and Nail) if I wanna here P do that, or HNIC2 (Dirty New Yorker) if I wanna hear another style or Product of the 80s (Test tube Babies) for something else. As with Ghostface on Wizard of Poetry and Bulletproof Wallets, HNIC3 brings a different vibe to a legendary rapper. Who could come back after so many ill winds; disease, humiliations, betrayal and imprisonment. This album is pure inspiration for me. Prodigy is definitely one of the best to ever do it, and now stronger than ever.

Comment: It's A Soild Album If You Like The Style. I Was Able To Listen Tho The Whole Deluxe Version. It Had Some Decent Tracks As Well. I'd Recommend Fans To At Least Give It A Listen. Just Don't Expect Much. I'll Give It A 2-3.

Comment: its two stars for alc and oh no's production...Prodigy you need to figure out who and what the fuck you are before you can lyrically hit the mic again...Are you a fag or not, did you like it in the ass or not? deal with that shit before you out a half ass efort talkin bout bitches.....there's a war going on in your closet, no one is safe from

Comment: I'm a big Prodigy fan but it seems like lyrical content was watered down or maybe it was rushed to meet release deadline with Nas's album. I like the beginning and end of the You BSing is nice song in the middle but otherwise the beats commerical sounding and the lyrics are very soft and empty. What to the vibe he was on the HNIC 2 and Product of the 80's? Havoc needs to start doing more production and they need to help each other more. Where is Un Pachino and Big Twins? The chemistry is just bad on this one. I like the deluxe move with dvd but he needs to get back to basics.

Comment: i wish I could give this zero stars. did you really expect it to be any better? the original h.n.i.c. wasn't even that good and h.n.i.c. 2 was awful. his career as a rapper with mobb deep has only become a stagnant reminder of what he once was.. a great shit talker, now just a mediocre shit talker trying to sell records and could care less about the music, boooearns! if you have the word swag in your daily vocab no need to comment on this because you will not be taken seriously

Comment: All right. Back in the day I bought The Infamous album. I brought it my friends house and there was a bunch of people there and they said "Hey, let's go outside and smash this shit against the road" so being a dumbass kid trying to fit in I took my new cd outside and we threw it and stomped it till it was no good. Looking back I wish I hadn't done that cause it was a good album. If I bought this album today I would get them same people and do the same thing to this cd. Shit sux. I ain't even gonna give it a rating. I wasn't expecting great things coming into this album but I was expecting a lot better. Garbage. Do not buy this.

Comment: This album reminds me in feel of BDK "Taste of Chocolate" or the way LL was going as his career progressed ie. a handful of decent'ish but not their best tracks but mostly smooth loverman shit - the thing is Kane and LL were always heading that way, whereas Prodigy/Mobb Deep I would have NEVER expected in my scariest of nightmares ! Dude must be in love or seriously fiending for some poontang. Most disappointing, me being one of those 40 yr olds that doesn't like that much hip hop these days, Prodigy and all the Mobb related product are things that I've ALWAYS checked for since day one but he really really let me down here :-( Such a shame.

Comment: Wow! Y'all hate this album, but LOVE Large pro? Folks are feeling The Rebirth?? I need to invest in Q-Tips TODAY because niggums need their ears cleaned ASAP! Without Rhyme or Reason? Ms Bad Ass? Killa joints! It appears that dude is trying to get some commercial attention with most joints..not a good idea for true Hip-Hop heads, but I can't blame him for wanting to get paid for his work. Lots of misses, but there are still plenty of solid hits on this album.

Comment: The album is butt.I agree with KE about Prodigy shitting on his core listeners. The only song on here worth listening to is "Serve EM" and you really get screwed, cause you gotta buy the deluxe edition in order have that joint on disc. His beats are ass and his flow is ass.Makes you wonder if somebody use to write for this dude and told him to piss off.I know that Godfather PT.III did some writing for the camp in the past.

Comment: TheBALL, Nice to see real recognize real ;) Hey, I hear you my man, "The Realest" is my favorite tracks from the MURDA MUZIK album. I love that beat and G Rap spits one of his best verses ever! Incredible! HNIC 3 is a disaster of an album. Not really much more to say about it than that. Prodigy is basically shitting on his fans and trying WAY too hard to fit in with this new generation of putos.

Comment: KE... Steve... Hats off cats. Its only the truth. I wish I would have read before I posted but I HATE this new wave BS. Most of these kids commenting "classic" were likely 10 years old when Murda Muzic came out. The realest was teh ILLEST (shit I heard in my life). NOTHING from MOBB since and forget about the G-Unit years. We all know 50 is a cock slobber. Not about his sexuality... purely the sound he makes as he (dare I say) spits. If the dude is gay thats his business but he can't drop music like THIS... AFTER he he was "P".

Comment: I cannot rate this spew. What the FUCK happened to P???? How come Havoc produced NOTHING on this album for Infamous Records???? WHY is Havoc on only ONE track (the dopest grimiest one btw)... why do all these beats sound like homo shit??? Since wehn is T.I. a producer?????? This is the northeast P and right now you sound like a straight up conformist. You know these cats don't respect you, right? You know they have NO idea that for a minute you were unfuckwithable. Remember that? Back to the real sound please. If its the sales then get your money but if you LOVE this album you put out then know that this R&B $hit kills real MCs in my eyes. You're dying.

Comment: There's a CLOWN on here using the word "classic"... Really? Classic? Fuckin' really? Not every album is a "classic", ya fuckin' douchebag. HNIC 3 is TRASH! Even HNIC 1 wasn't a classic. Prodigy just sounds tired, bored and old. It's certainly time to hang up the mic and call it a career. If you don't think so then you need to get your hearing checked. Also, all you new generation rapping queers can call it a career too and stop destroying hip hop culture. You know who you are, ya fuckin' cross dressing faggots!

Comment: Prodigy sold out and made a pussy love album no one's gonna cop. 5% of his existing fans will like and buy this. I'm an honest fan. Worst thing Prodigy has ever done. Makes Infamy and Blood Money sound classic. Beats are trash, features are weak, lyrics are useless. HNIC 2 smokes this wack piece of shit. HNIC 2 was crazy, this is lazy. P is lost.

Comment: Well it's music & Prodigy has a natural tonality. The best producer on this is either Alchemist or Havoc. Second best is Sid Roams. 3rd best is Oh No. I can't stand T.I. I hate his music and his face.

Comment: I fully agree with the below statements only problem is as artists get older they change it's always been like that, the way an artist looks at it is simple if you want their old style buy their old album

Comment: I don't trust the production. No Havoc beats means there's a problem, nobody from Infamous Mobb featured on here means there's a problem,no Noyd means there's a problem.Him coming out with that book and telling on everybody is his problem but the dude has a joint with T.I.....major problem.First Born, don't expect much from this project "G".Murda Muzik has now left the building.
