    Summary

Once regarded as Philadelphia Hip-Hop's best kept secret, Reef the Lost Cauze is no longer the best underground MC you've never heard of: he's ready to shed the title once and for all and become a household name. The battle-tested MC is poised to have a breakthrough year in 2010: not by switching up his style or conforming to ready-made ideals of mainstream acceptability, but rather by staying true to the basic formula of raw rhymes and murderous beats. Reef stands as the new sound of Philadelphia. He carries with him the city's long-standing tradition of musical history and innovation.

After dropping two critically-acclaimed albums 2005's Feast or Famine and 2008's A Vicious Cycle, Reef has teamed with producers Guns-N-Butter(aka Stu Bangas, J-Scrilla and Chop-la-Rok) as well as some high-profile rappers like Kool G.Rap, Vinnie Paz( of Jedi Mind Tricks), R.A the Rugged Man, Slaine(La Coka Nostra), Big Noyd, Akir, Bloodsport, King Magnetic, and K-Beta for the 13 rounds of raw rap that comprise his latest album, Fight Music. From the braggadocio raps on songs like "I'm a G" to the introspective rhymes of "Get me Outta Here" Reef's lyrical dexterity finds a welcome home on Guns-N-Butter's neck snapping soundtracks.

Comment: This is a good record, not a classic but a nice release. 5 songs are top notch tracks with killer beats and flows. A couple songs I didnt dig at all and the rest are solid. Great collabos on this one, slaine murks it, RA kills it as alwayse, and "cut you up" is one of the illest tracks ever!! BET

Comment: I was really disappointed in this. Its like n*ggas forgot what dope beats sound like. This didn't suck, but was by far the worse Reef album I've heard. Production was just sloppy and erratic and didn't do Reef's flow justice. He really needs to hook back up with E.Dan and Eyego, hell...even Mighty Mi would be a step up!

Comment: How do you give this album 5 stars? Where are the bangers?!?!?! Reef's flow is always on point but with production and beats like this I can't find one song that stands out... disappointed to say the least.

Comment: Fight Music is a dope album - one of Reef's best works but Invisible Empire rules. Do your homework cause that record is a young, hungry Reef on FIRE. Only issue are most of the collabs and not just on Fight Music either...smh Hard to get through but Fight Music overall DOPE

Comment: Reef can drop poetic lyrics or he can drop brutal rhymes with just as much effectiveness, but Fight Music is exactly what the name says. Punishing lyrics over absolutely knocking beats, GnB really hit a homerun here. Honestly there's only 1 skippable track IMO that being "Sun" which I just felt out of place with the rest of the album. Overall though I'd say it's an early contender for album of the year, the production, lyrics, and guest spots are all on point and deliver on what the title claims.

Comment: saying it'll be better than Vicious Cycle isn't saying much....if you were to say its better than Feast or Famine, then I'd be excited. Vicious Cycle was a pretty bad album for Reef in my opinion. It might not have been Reef himself, but the production makes most of that album boring. The samples are whack, flipped poorly, and overused. I bought that album and I wish I didn't.
