Summary

Still living off the praise of fans, critics and peers as well as sales of last year's instant classic R.E.K.S (Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme), REKS now sets out to take the next step in his progression with his official full length follow up opus Straight, No Chaser.

Once again teaming up with career long beatsmith Statik Selektah, the two combine like a modern day Gang Starr for Straight, No Chaser. 14 Tracks of pure hip hop featuring some of the strongest talent out right now Action Bronson, Slaine, Wais P The Pimp, Termanology and more!!!

REKS has already set things in motion for Straight, No Chaser with applauded appearances at SXSW this year, an upcoming European tour and the recent leaks of the CD's buzz-singles, "Chasin'" and "Autographs" which have found their way to every corner of the streets and internet alike.

REKS took the underground scene by storm with his debut LP, Along Came The Chosen (2001). The album featured production from a then 18-year old Statik Selektah and featured collaborations with underground stalwarts: Pace-Won & Young Zee of the Outsiderz, 7L & Esoteric, J-Live and more. The critically acclaimed LP was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Album & Artist of the Year at The Boston Music Awards and was featured in the Source, XXL, Vibe, and URB Magazine's "Next 100". The album's single "Skills 101" reached #45 on the Billboard Singles chart, putting him on shows and tours with huge national acts.

REKS finally released his highly anticipated sophomore LP, Grey Hairs, in 2008. The momentous album featured production from DJ Premier, Large Professor, DC The Midi Alien and ten-tracks from Statik and featured collaborations with Lil Fame of MOP, Consequence, Skyzoo, Termanology, Jon Hope and Big Shug. Grey Hairs lead to REKS being profiled by XXL Magazine in their "Show & Prove" section. REKS released the companion piece More Grey Hairs, appeared on Statik Selektah's Spell My Name Right: The Album and released two more mixtapes (In Between The Lines Series Vol's 1&2 which were hosted by Statik Selektah/DJ Green Lantern and DJ Ill Will respectively) and both mixtapes garnered thousands of downloads and widespread praise.

Comment: I understand that everybody entitled to there opinion but if you don't like this then you need to leave hip hop alone for real, this is the shit! If you can't feel it then stick to the mainstream COONS like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and bitch ass Drake!!!

Comment: Shit! I've been listening to this album for a while now and forgot to rate it. Good thing I was back to get a vinyl copy.. Anyways, besides a couple weak tracks this album is SOLID!! Statik's even breaking out the jazz loops on this one! (such a showoff, cancel that) Reks is tight with awesome flow and well matched with Statik. I don't mind a little soul/groove in my beats and Statik's one of the best. Crawl out of that cave, take the rocks out of your ears and LISTEN UP!!

Comment: I always want to get hype for REKS albums but end up just feeling okay about them. REKS is pretty dope tho - Statik is not for me at all. I see why a lot of people like him, but for me it doesn't spark nothing creatively.

Comment: REKS had me convinced on Grey Hairs that he was going to be one of my favorite emcees during this era. The first few listens of his self titled REKS album, I thought it wasn't Grey Hairs. It ended up surpassing GH in my opinion (or at least was consistent). This cd will grow the same way. REKS kicks sooo much lyrics its insane to follow. Buy it, listen, and you will learn and like. REKS IS IN THE TOP LYRICIST CATEGORY!

Comment: FreeDogg, you're a fuckin idiot if you think every song on here is a banger, hahaha, WTF?? You obviously weren't brought up on 90's hip hop, because that's what I always compare hip hop to. I can't help it. Production was 1000 times better in the 90's, now cats put out anything and clowns like you say it's fuckin amazing. Yall clowns make me laugh. Go buy ten copies of this pathetic production and listen to it all day.

Comment: Y'all n*ggaz is CKrazy thinking this album is wack. This album is far from wack you dumb muthafuckaz!!! STatik Selektah is a BeaST on the production and Reks is extremely DOPE on the Mic. I know everyone got their own opinion but y'all wack n*ggaz are deaf. Every track on here is a BANGER!!! This album is my favorite for 2K12 and Trophies is second. If you a HipHop head you already know!!! Well worth the MULA!!! Props to Reks and STatik for creating a MaSTerpiece

Comment: ok I copped this cd and I must say it is a great buy for anyones collection however, I do agree with some of you on statiks beats. He is almost hit or miss when it comes to creating beats. I think this cd was missing that one "smash you in the face" track to make this cd standout. it is consistent throughout with reks spitting dope lyrics. I am a fan of both but statik needs to step his game up a little bit especially,if he is to be claimed the "next primo". Blacastans album is ahead of this album in my opinion. Still a dope album though. go get this and support the real heads!! kn really? You try to sound all intellectual with the masonry concept but can't even spell "probably" right. Are you really going to give this a 1star rating because of the illuminati theory and the cover art of this album? The lyrics and beats are incredible on this album. Almost brings you back to '95. Blac is PROBABLY on of the most under rated emcees out there. much props to blac doing his thing. How dope would it be if Blac and Apathy did an album together? Be on the lookout for this dude, he is a major problem. How about we judge the music a dude makes instead of what the fucking album artwork is showing. Next, you are going to say that Blac is in cohoots with Jigga man

Comment: Lyrically this CD is right there with all of Reks other releases...Right on point. Statik Selektah is a major disappointment on this release. I've been a fan of Statik but he's gotten to the point where he just putting stuff out just to put it out. These beats were wasted on some sick ass lyrics...not only Reks but Action Bronson & Slaine both killed...@ D-Train your crazy bro. R.E.K.S was an instant classic. This is garbage throw away beats.

Comment: Copped this and I really enjoy it. I admit I wasn't a huge fan of Statik a while back but dudes production is great. He kills the beats and Reks murders the rhymes with a quick, signature style. Much love to both artists on a great album.

Comment: A classic album already. Statik brought the beats on this one. A beautiful arrangement of current hip hop. Heavy samples and instrumentation create an extremely unique and emotional soundscape for REKS to lace his witty wordplay all over. This CD will not be leaving my CD player. This is a fantastic duo and exactly what hip hop needs right now. The current state of hip hop is thriving and it brings a smile to my face. -E-roksteady

Comment: to each his own. he just uses breakbeats and shitty samples. not much original from him. like I said I dont hear the soul in his music. not soul samples.... SOUL! I like Reks though. Wont rate this album because my bias againt the producer but its my opinion. id rather see him use a new up and coming producer. why the producers name gotta be all over the album nowadays. if its dope then its dope and I dont think statik is.
