Comment: i did have this cd which was the issue of off STONES THROW and I let my homie phil borrow it and I never got it back. Toothless says the quality was poor, well you got to keep in mind that analog recording was still around in 1997 and protools mbox wasnt available until 2003 for your entry level recordiing convenience. you also gotta keep in mind that there is also a lo-fi community and the sound was in terms liking to the aesthetics of it like recording on cassette tapes giving you that warm sound. of course nowadays we are all spoiled with the digital sound being a commodity and we are in consensus to believe that high definition is the best quality and the most typical thing that enthusiasts would say is "get with the times" which by default means neglect the nostalgia even if you were old enough to understand. also in 1997 I copped the Xmen VHS tape of "Xersize #1" and of course RIP to Roc Raida. this Vhs footage was also available at the same time Soulful Fruit was released. I copped both of these in 1997 from RASPUTINS music a record shop in Campbell when they just openned I think this was in 96 and the buyer for underground Hip Hop was this dude named Carl, he had good insight on what was going on with HIP HOP going Independent and further underground, use to always spend more than an hour choppin it up talking bout the underground and what was happening then, now I assume that the buyer doesnt know shit cus they might be much younger now and dont know a damn thing about the late 90's underground in full detail about what really was going then, now they only know about basic common knowledge just to get by. right around when Stretch and Bobbito was on the air, and fondlem was circulating and of course Stones throw Brick ABB Anticon FatBeats Rawkus 75 Ark Battle Axe Nu Gruv Alliance Seven Heads Mush CounterFlow and so forth and so on...which was the very beginning for these labels in the late 90's early 2000's....AND IMMM OUUUT!!!
